A bit of Murdocks pickup is who is going to acclimatise to the team in like 2 weeks. It was just the quickest pickup we could make that has a instant impact which is what makes sense for now

Issue beyond this is lack of train on players though. It goes back to my Ash Johnson conversation before. We should be picking up the best youngsters not picked up and chuck him into the WAFL team on decent coin as our marquee pickup. NHH, Pinnuck or say Tom Blamires would have been ideal

Why do you think I'm so pissed ? even on draft day when we picked him I threw a fist pump.

so you write him off after 14 months and 6 afl games

makes sense

But it’s an undeniable fact that no player has ever become a decent, valuable footballer after not starring in their first six games.

Jagger Smith 30 something to, Murphy Reid 30 something disposals Bo Allen not

It certainly is our first pick in 2024 draft, can't impress enough at preseason training to at least get on the bench in a scratch match, is very interesting.
Have you been to, read up on, or even taken note of the general consensus re pre season? Bo has impressed. Did you watch either of the practice matches? He was pretty solid.

The chances that he is missing tomorrow because he’s not good enough or hasn’t earnt it are slim to none. I would put my entire life savings on it being that, as other people have suggested, they are giving some non b23 players their crack at competitive AFL level footy before the season starts to gauge where they’re at.

So you'd bet your whole life savings on Bo being selected for round 1?

Now that is interesting.

Not exactly what I said. I think he will play early and often this year though yes, especially once injuries come in. Hes competing with a bunch of other stellar trainers and pedigreed players so im happy regardless. WAFL mid minutes, or beating out a Lindsay, Duursma, Davis, Hewett etc on a wing or a half back, are both good results in my eyes.

We’re gonna be shit for probably another year or two, don’t see why people feel the need to rage over one pick. We all want the club to succeed, and that should extend to the players too.

I really wanted us to take Murphy Reid instead of Bo Allen at the draft. Having said that, if Bo has the drive and dedication to do some extra work on his skills and decision making (which I think he does) he could be a fantastic player for us. His natural athleticism is a huge starting point to launch from.

Being on the fringes and being behind a pick 65 on the wing as a first round pick must be lighting a fire under him. It may take a little time but he'll get there. After stringing a few good performance together and gaining some confidence who knows how high he will fly!

I'm with you.
I want Bo and the other recruits to succeed.

It's way too early to write Bo and a few of the other kids off.

At the time people were saying Reid was a huge chance to go back home after his initial contract which hasn't proven to be the case.
Having said that, if he was playing in our side, that might've been the case.

You can really only judge these things after a few more years.

At this stage, it doesn't look great for a direct comparison though.
