Hopefully something meaningful is announced
Another guaranteed Courier Mail paywall to negate to get information
$241.33pp
Last one of these Bleijie held was announcing the new funding deal with the Feds, Vic Park investigative works starting, and procurement of 4 minor venues. So, it will probably be something significant. Especially since it's been a year since they announced their 2032 delivery plan.

I hope he announces progress on the Arup masterplan, the early works contractor for Victoria Park, stuff relating to the aquatic centre, and general updates on the other venues, villages, and transport.
$241!!!

what do they have snoop dog playing before it or something

It will be on sky news probably as well if you have Foxtel
Queensland Media Club event so anything meaningful announced will be across all media networks. Should also be on their YouTube channel shortly after.

My local member Tim Mander (State Olympic and sports minister) had a little speech at Australia House.
He is also an ex NRL umpire and would have got tickets to the NRL opening game.

it will be just a demonstration game, same goes for the nrl
Also the idea came from Andrew Liveris himself yesterday saying he'd like to see NRL & AFL have exhibition matches in 2032.
Brisbane Olympics chief plans to ‘show off’ Australia with NRL and AFL - Peter Jenkins
Brisbane Olympics boss Andrew Liveris has plans to connect rugby league and AFL with the 2032 Games to “really show off who we are as a country”.
Speaking at a Business of Sport conference in Las Vegas, Liveris said the country’s two most popular football codes could play exhibition matches in parallel to the Olympic competition.
Liveris believes the Games should be “the sum of everyone in Australia” and shining a light on some non-Olympic sports was a way to further promote the nation.
“The very visible ones like NRL, AFL, and all the ones that have their own mojo … there’s lots of opportunities to put them on display,” the President of the Board of the Brisbane Organising Committee (BOCOG) said.

Listening to Crash Craddock on Whateley (SEN) this morning, he thinks this is a classic case of "keep your friends close and your enemies closer".
They played an audio excerpt from Vlandis this morning on SEN, where he was talking about NRL and LFA at the Olympics.

This post is a bit disjointed but if anyone else on BF has suggestions on transport/construction etc it has to go to Jarrod Bleijie MP, Deputy Premier, Department of State Development, Infrastructure and Planning

Recent Tim Mander email
I emailed my local MP Tim Mander regarding a new rail station proposal at Victoria Park. Got an auto reply mentioning anything to do with Sport or Olympics has to go to his other Sports & Olympic email address. So sent it off to that one.

I knew the subject matter was likely not under his direct Ministerial duties, but he took my suggestions seriously last time and he is my local MP. Just advised that my e-mail will be forwarded on to Jarrod Bleijie MP, Deputy Premier.

Pre-election email to Tim Mander 2/10/24
I got a good response from Tim Mander in regard to my pre-election email to him on my suggestions regarding the big-ticket items and how they can fit within the Olympic venue budget with building a new oval stadium.

He assured me my suggestions would go to the 100-day review and i am sure they did.
Just in case, i put in a slightly revised and better worded update (including a PPP) and submitted that to the 100-day review
In the pre-election email i provided costings on how it could be done with $800million spare. I believe i even put this up on this thread

Six of my 7 suggestions were eventually adopted by the LNP.
GIICA recommended the Go Print site for swimming. Estimated costs $2.562billion
I recommended an Entertainment Centre (PPP) for above Wooloongabba Rail Station (Go Print site) with something down the track if and when that venue was completed by Olympics time, with a new swimming venue elsewhere.

To the best of my knowledge no one else was suggesting the first 4 of my 7 suggestions at that time. The first 3 for six months prior.
The first four below from a copy and paste from my email.

The 7th was a new rail station at Victoria Park which fell outside the venue budget anyhow.
Lots of people would have suggested this, even though it was outside the 100-day review parameters

Recent Tim Mander email
Below extract from my recent email to Tim Mander MP on a new rail station.
The below part was just to remind him of my previous suggestions, so the new rail station proposal should be considered even if it's a bit left field.

1. Drop Commonwealth funding of the Entertainment Centre at Roma Street

2. Funding to be changed to 50/50 split between State and Commonwealth

3. Choose a new oval stadium over a $3 billion Entertainment Centre at Roma Street

4. New Entertainment Centre location moved to over the Wooloongabba Rail station

(I mentioned in my 100-day review submission this should be a PPP and therefore outside the venue budget. That looks like happening or something similar)

5. Sell existing Gabba site for housing after the Olympics

6. Build a new swimming venue, but i got the location wrong.

I thought it was time to put a more detailed proposal for a new rail station at Victoria Park while the LNP are awaiting the Arup masterplan report but that's 8-12 months away
However, i don't have much faith in Jarrod Bleijie MP to even take a look at it unless Tim Mander mentions it to him.
So, what is my new rail station proposal?
I think this post is long enough for now

The government said when they announced Arup had won the contract, to design a new Vic Park/RNA/etc master plan, that Arup had been given 12 months to complete one. Which means it should be delivered to the government by September or October.
It sounds like Arup will complete some form of community consultation for the master plan, either in concept or detailed plan form. So, it's likely we'll know what they're proposing sometime before the 12 month deadline to ensure community consultation can occur before the final plan is delivered to the government.

Arup will come up with something good, i hope.
But likely the LNP set them some guidelines otherwise we get a $20 billion inner north city improvement masterplan.

Below part of Tim Manders response from his electoral office. Nothing back from the Deputy Premier yet.
A few things mentioned are informative.
Not that i believe some major projects planned will be achieved in time.

"The assessment of transport opportunities will be undertaken to identify preferred access arrangements to venues, including opportunities for high-capacity spectator transport, fully inclusive access, efficient legacy operation and manage impacts across the broader network.

It is also recognised that all competition venues, including the new Brisbane Stadium, will require bespoke and supplementary transport solutions to existing networks during the Games. DTMR will work with delivery partners to develop strategies and plans that respond to the unique games time travel demand. Further transport solutions for the Games are likely to include modified road operations, significant TransLink services uplift, event shuttle buses and temporary transport overlay.

We have forwarded your email to the Department of State Development, Infrastructure and Planning for their consideration.

Thank you again for writing and I hope this information is of assistance to you."

We have to be better than this surely. It's got Nathan/Mt Gravatt written all over it.
I think he's referring to the Games as a whole, and "all competition venues", when he talks about transport solutions during the Games. Similar transport stuff happened when Sydney hosted in 2000: road closures, transport vehicles borrowed from other cities, shuttle busses, and public transport changes.

Hopefully. If we are talking about needing shuttle buses to the Barrambin precinct then this will (a) be a bad look and (b) be a sign of things to come for your bog standard footy or cricket game with a 50k+ crowd.

Shuttle buses should be a part of any Olympic transport strategy even to/from Victoria Park. They'll likely shut down the ICB to everything except public transport and event logistics.

Doesn't solve what happens for other events post-Olympics though.

Are any stations closed during the Games?

Yes, a number of bridges, metro and train stations in Paris are closed during the Games. Plan your journey in advance to avoid moving around in Paris on this day. You will not be able to rely on public transportation as usual.

For the tramway, the Porte de Versailles and Porte d'Issy stations on the T2 will close on 29 August and for the whole duration of the Paralympic Games.

Bus lines will be diverted if they cross the security perimeter, and therefore the bus will not stop at certain stations.

Regarding the metro, Concorde and Tuileries stations on line 1 will remain closed until 1 September. Concorde station on line 8 will reopen on 2 September, and line 12 on 22 September. On lines 1 and 13, Champs-Élysées - Clemenceau station, which reopened after the Olympic Games, will close again on Thursday 22 August, until 8 September.

How can I plan my route in and around Paris?

The public transport authority “Île-de-France Mobilités” launched a mobile application. The application, called “Transport Public Paris 2024”, is now available in 6 languages (French, English, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and German) on iOS and Android. It includes a route planner, personalised information on traffic and a ticketing module. This app features a special algorithm designed to limit congestion and find the quickest route to destination. To make use of this feature, choose “Paris Journey 2024” in pink at the top of the app’s route planner.

Good to know: the same route planners’ algorithm used by the official app will also be used by private navigation apps as well as SNCF and RATP apps.

On this no major stations were closed in terms of getting to events and everything was walkable once you got to the station

The app they came out with uses ai and data from the app to disperse the crowds to multiple different stations/your destination so there’s not thousands of people all going to the same area, obviously it’s easy to do with the unbelievable Metro system they have

The Paris metro system is incredible, trains leaving on time basically 1 minute apart to get you anywhere you needed to go, there was only a couple of times there was a few delays and I think early on the first day there was some attack on one of the lines

I saw on LinkedIn the other day that Jacob Anson led another Vic Park/Olympic venue walk last week. Anson has done this before, Dom Fay attended one last year. Anyway, I was scrolling through a few posts from people who attended the walk last wee and one included an attendee saying they "looked forward to seeing what Arup unveils in the coming weeks".
It's not 100% confirmation that Bleijie will announce it at the delivery update on the 25th, but if it does get announced, that's a lot sooner than I expected any details of the masterplan to be revealed.

For those that have access to the CM

I assume it possibly includes these below that have previously been mentioned. BHA down for Modern Pentathlon
  • At-Risk Sports: Archery, modern pentathlon, shooting, weightlifting, and wrestling have been highlighted as potentially vulnerable to being dropped or having events reduced.
.....................................
For Brisbane having less sports will be a good thing.
That's as long as the LNP don't add a bunch of sports to make up for the ones going.
