Nope, complete spud. I advocated strongly for him to get a game when Darcy was injured in 2024, he finally got played at the end and re-enforced that the coaches really did know what they were doing when the refused to select him, he backed that up in round 1 last year, just not AFL standard, and we know how to develop rucks, unlike most other teams who just bring in ready made ones from other clubs.

I really feel for Will. I wasn't all that fazed even by his acquisition back in 2022 (he was cheap even then), but he came out after the St. Kilda game where he looked like treacle in socks in Round 2 and really performed to a high level. All year. Swift handballs were his trademark, some of them quite sexy. Real shame his plight, he just dropped off a cliff after that year, and into the gorge of obscurity.

I don't think he'll amount to much at Port, but hopefully I'm wrong; I wish him all the very best.

The **** we thinking keeping him in 2024 instead of Knobel. Even at Peel, was thinking Knobel had a higher ceiling. Reidy struggled against Scott Jones, which is all you need to know about AFL standard rucks.

Must be some record. Dropped after first round in back to back years at two different clubs.

Will play more games for Port Adelaide than Reidy plays for Carlton.

Don't know if either will get into double figures games played for their new clubs though tbh.

We tried to demote Knobel to the rookie list. Reidy was already on the rookie list.

It wasn't a choice between one or the other. It was a choice that Knobel was the least valuable player on our senior list we wanted to keep at the club. Can't say he's proved us wrong so far IMO.

The fan club will just move on to whoever else gets good stats in the WAFL. Because the Will Brodie fan club never cared about Brodie, they just cared about having a whinge about selection based solely on the WAFL stat sheets

In our current situation I'd much rather have a raw project ruck with KPP potential like Riddle, considering the front line ruck options we already have.

To be fair to those of us that sit on the sidelines, not privy to the inner machinations of the club with analytical data like GPS or how players are presenting training or in one on one sessions it can sometimes be baffling why certain players are selected or omitted.

Brodie looked incredible during a run of games, especially at winning clearances and getting the ball to the outside effectively and then, during a period when we were without Fyfe and routinely getting beaten up in centre clearances he was not given a single game to toughen us up inside.

That sort of thing without explanation is hard to follow.

I watched Mitchie during match simulation and he was a bull inside and good with his hands. Players don't get drafted to the AFL without having shown standout attributes at junior level.

Its not always clear till they get to the pinnacle of how fast and precise the game has to be played what their temperament and attributes are going to translate to.

Look at how many clubs thought they had drafted a better AFL player than Murphy Reid. They couldn't have been more wrong. You can understand someone like Lalor, Smith, Ashcroft or Tauru but some of the others are utter head scratchers at this point.
