Preview R3: Changes vs. Geelong Cats

Apologies for the shameless fantasy related question.
But with Dawson out is there a chance a Taylor type tags Holmes/Smith.
Or have you guys dropped tagging players these days?

Thanks in advance.

Berry tends to get the defensive/ shut down roles.

It's not my claim peanut, it's the wider media consensus, if you've watch them all please just enlighten me, otherwise it's just your opinion by yourself, don't hide the evidence 😀
It’s not the wider media consensus at all. A few have suggested it, and then been shut down almost instantly by their counterparts sitting next to them. Every time explaining that each incident involved extreme loads and positions that the human body cannot handle. Which is completely obvious if you actually watch footy.

Ok then, so all were accidents... except ours? I'm confused

If we are 1-3 by Gather round its not a disaster.

We have a good run and if we can get to the bye 6-5 with Curtin coming back and a bit more stability in the side its fine.

Don't panic, we will be all right!

This week is a free hit, but 2-2 needs to be the goal. If we lose to Bulldogs and Fremantle at home on the bounce then we have regressed imo.

OK so after 3 years we have 2 first round draft picks that can't get near a game despite a pile of injuries and management.

Plenty of later players in that draft (notably Freijah, Mannagh and Humphries) contributing very well. Did the recruiters pick duds? Can we not develop players? Is anyone going to be held accountable?

Why ?? Ah Chee was included in that same group. Look at the position and load Ah Chee suffered to cause that hamstring strain.
Ok, now I understand, you're not saying it was the fitness coach or the fast game play, just injuries.
Phew, we got there!
Yep, you might be right, I haven't watched them all 😀 😀

Good player management. It's sort of weird.
Yeah, it's a slightly disconcerting, unfamiliar feeling.

We've seen an automatic loss on a six day break coming and reacted... sensibly.

Wtf?

Maybe the learnings actually exist

If there is one big match where I dont Dawson and Tex being out, it is this one. Narrow ground diminishes Dawson's kicking and IMO he sometimes struggles in the wet. Actually think we are chance. No home pressure and IMO the flakiest Geelong team in a while.

Hopefully they say just have a crack boys attack and don't try to defend any pointless non existent lead.

D
Credit to Jarra Davis, but I liked his suggestion to put MM into the midfield as a defensive midfielder (the role Dawson usually plays).
We will struggle if Rankine and Rachele are in centre bounces together without a defensive midfielder.
In the absence of a few of our bigger names, I don't this

I'm guessing Peatling or Berry will end up having to play it though

Disappointed Edwards didn't get a run. It seems if not this week then never. He'd be wise to seek a transfer at the end of the season. From what I've seen of him in the SANFL, he is AFL quality. He was good against South last Saturday. Better than Taylor in my judgement, and I'm not knocking Taylor here.

That would be extreme. Could be right on the cusp of the medium term plan coming ti fruition. Would have had meetings about this.

Going off to play regular minutes with Essendon not a great career move

You made the claim that the speed of the game was the cause for the spike in hamstring injuries. Now back up that claim. I’ve at least watched each of the incidents.
Plenty of scientific evidence that shows straight line running at high speed that increases suddenly … as in suddenly playing high speed games with short turnarounds significantly increase the risk of hamstring injury. I’ve at least read stuff. Increase speed increase risk, you add in direction changes etc well what do ya know.

Take your point about Essendon, but we have 2 1st-round draft picks that have been with us 3 years and can't get a game. Like to be a fly on the wall at those team meetings to hear what the players say.

Except none of them were done in a straight line. And the increase in high speed running is up 3% over last year.
