Ran with Butters all day and absolutely toweled him up.

Soft as 🧈 Butters
Just did the same job on Merrett. Kids a jet.

Talks about the Tigers trading up for 2. We wanted 7 and 11 - they pulled out and will regret it for the next 15 years.

4 frees against and I think all were holding the ball.
Just a horrible day.

The fact their mids brought the heat after quarter time and FOS was found wanting was disappointing.

Put it this way. His midfield minutes went to Jy in the last quarter, as Clarko tried something to get us going. Thats how off he was.

Anyway. Big game this week to bounce back. Straight to Merrett he goes.
Bravo FOS

Syd Barker night he gets the 3 votes and if the umps had any idea they’d give him best on as well.

He’s the reason we beat Essendon. Nothing surer.
Stopping Merrett has been our kryptonite.

He has some unique qualities this kid. Someone mentioned I. Heeney a while ago, and I reckon that’s not a bad comparison.

Has the potential to be very, very special.

For many at Arden Street, Finn O'Sullivan is a favourite and his first three weeks of this season have shown his development. The No.2 pick from the 2024 draft class closed down Zak Butters' influence in round one and on Saturday completely shut down Merrett, keeping him to 10 disposals – the lowest tally of his career outside of games that were cut short by injury or as the substitute.

Next stop looks to be Blues star Sam Walsh, who is a second cousin of O'Sullivan, North's laidback but fiercely competitive talent.

The most impressive thing about the game was that people hear 'tag' and think oh, he must have been solely focused on neutralising Merrett.

It wasn't really a 'tag' by the traditional definition. Instead FOS used Merrett as kind of like a reference point - he's there, close him off, ball goes over there, Merrett out of commission, time for me to go get involved. And carrying out that role well is 100x harder than a traditional tag.
