12 mins to go in the last.
Lions player Coleman was running full speed to a ground ball.
Pou was several metres away, jogging.

Instead of running faster at the ball, Pou (cool name that suits him) stopped and moved to his left for some reason.
Letting Coleman gather ball.
Pou stuck out an arm but Coleman brushed him off, then Hill bodied him, Coleman dished off to another Lion, ran, got a handball back, and goaled.
Hill went and screamed at Pou for squibbing.

Pou has a habit of choosing when to tackle or apply pressure.
Also in close quarters when he has the ball, he likes to handball backwards over his head to nobody. Not all the time, but I cannot think of another player that does this.
Been in the system long enough and hasn't learned anything.
Don't be fooled by his left foot and ability to kick long

He doesn’t need to be the next Bont, and frankly, it’s going to be a long time before the supposed next Bont hits the AFL.

If your bar is set at having a Bontempelli impact, then 99.9% of players are going to disappoint you.

Philipou has barely played 50 games. Some players don’t click until they’re closer to 80. Not a big deal right now

Poos backwards no look handball
Ro’s blind bomb out of the ruck
Flanders long bombs to no one
Panicked kicking out of defense
All these things add up to turnovers and uncontrolled football and lack of composure.
Rtb and the kind coaches really need to get on top of it otherwise we’re finishing bottom six.

He’s obviously never gonna to be Bont, but he’ll be fine - have definitely noticed the tendency to jog around near contests and a big lack of intensity lately. I put it down to the illness the week before but not sure that flies. Might be worth trialling a positional switch with Mitchito to see if it lifts his impact. Might suit them both....

Well ****ing obviously 🙄 No one thought Pou was on track to be the next Bont, one of the all time greats.

Re-watching the game after being there live he actually did a lot of nice things in close in the clearances. His timing is just off and he is rushing as a result. It's a bit strange as his decision making was excellent when he first started playing but it makes a bit of sense given he has missed so much football. I don't think it's far off from clicking. Absolutely needs to get more of it and the low TOG is weird.

I totally agree some of his defensive efforts and attack on the ball are 'little league' stuff. Why he gets so much midfield time is beyond me he has done nothing to earn it.

This has always been an issue with Lyon's coaching his favourites can do no wrong and rarely get called out on things. Yet he rode Jack Steele to a point where he was pushed out of the club.
