The Walter rumours make even more sense if Tassie are genuinely circling Archer Reid.

There's a chance come the end of the season that Archer has a higher trade value.

Correct.

Lets not pretend Tassie wont come at our promising kids.

May just end up Archer out, Walters in.

Hopefully its the Williams and Maric quality we lose.

I don’t think so. We will have so much cap to burn in 2028 and 2029 from two years of going under the cap plus front loading contracts in 2025 and 2026. Can’t see a way Swans match 3M + 2M + 1 + 1 + 1 over 5 years for example.

Port will match a band 2 offer I agree, and in the event of that I’d leave that discussion there. MG not a huge priority.

Rivers is an interesting one. I’d offer band 2 if he can show he can play midfield week in week out this year. Would Melbourne accept pick 19 which probably comes into 16 or so for him? Not sure.

How much will it cost retaining these young guns in 2029 onwards?

And bringing in others?

Better ball user than our half backs if we exclude three of our half backs isn't exactly a shining endorsement.
I’d pick him over both if I had to choose today? It’s not hard.

McCarthy is great but has had less than 15 games and 1 pre season, might still end up as a full time mid eventually. Lindsay is 18 and has played 2 games.

When we have guys like Maric, Baker, Duggan, etc. playing in our backline it’s a ****ing layup to improve on that front.

*If our list management team aren’t total idiots, we’ll have the bulk of the big contracts paid by end 2029.

-extension for Harley with money brought forward into 2027/2028
-Ginbey, Hewett front load extensions
-get Duggan, Baker money paid in advance

I feel like this Georgiades talk hasn't come from nowhere, there must be something, and he is a free agent next year.
We would be silly to not be talking to him, hes very good and next year we are in the free agent/top up with players window.
Walter on the table too, but he would cost picks while Georgiades would not.

Shanahan seems more and more destined to be a CHB.

Georgiades Waterman Archer as the forward talls
Shanahan Ginbey Young as the defensive talls
CDT as the ruck

The Georgiades talk just came from him being ooc next year and the radio jockeys saying they reckon he may want to finish his career in WA.

Oh and Port needing first rounders to match bids on Pilot and Salopek.

I don't think there's any more to it than that.

Giving Bailey Williams that 'top 10% paid at the club' tag in the final year of his contract which triggers his free agency is probably one of the shrewdest things I've seen the club do in a very long time.

God I hope we don't do this. We are stocked for key forwards and we don't need to be parting with first rounders for ANOTHER one
Sounds more like Port are desperate to offload players for picks to prepare themselves for their club-tied prospects and before Tassie come in than we are for him.

We showed some interest before he re-signed last time, I very much doubt he's in the picture for us to part with high picks this time.

Simply not a need, especially this year.

Ollie Wines? Patty Cripps?

F*ck I'm gonna have a spew.

Vol-Kaneo reckons Wines has more years in him than Tim Kelly...AND our first rounder for Cripps? Good f*cking grief. We should be draft focused this year with an eye to Warner next year.

Mini again referred to Jobe as a forward. Being able to swing back is great but he’s very much the future of our club as a KPF

You'd think cornes would have his sources in PA

This is what happens when you have to fill up airtime talking about a club whose list you have NFI about other than Harley Reid.

Yeo. Turning a bloke showing so much promise up forward into a defender is one of the stupidest things you can do. A good forward is worth more than a great defender. Gov is the only exception.

It’s also what normallly happens when a club potentially rises from the bottom. They have cash to spend and become more attractive for players.

A few of these names were thrown up last year. Cripps, Neale and Wines especially and all 3 of those circumstances have changed (2 clubs are now officially ‘rebuilding’ ‘transitioning’ and the other has well known personal reason)

Rivers dropped so easy to look at his home town and if they would be calling his manager.

Walter has been linked for a while now. While most fans could see how it would fit there has definitely been smoke.

Warner clearly has been a chase for a while now. Nothing new.

Georgiades is the new one and seems the one building momentum. Ports NGA and FS situation likely playing a part also the watered down FA compo also.

Just hope Cal is right and the plan is one more draft before we start trading those top end draft assets again.

Counterpoint... 4 of the last 5 premiership sides have had their main tall defender in the AA team (not 2024). Only one key forward has been All-Australian in his premiership year in that time (Hawkins 2022)

I do tend to agree with you still, perhaps because truly good key forwards are harder to find and some of the best KPDs often start as mediocre KPFs. But I don't think we necessarily should look at Gov as an anomaly
