Going to the footy just feels like such an effort.
And at the footy is an effort.
Hard battle.
Key is enjoying the game.
Not thinking about issues.
Also done with all that crazy noise and fake effects they carry on with.
Looks so fake this.

Well how many people actually live where the football stadiums are?

MCG & docklands are bang in the centre of Melbourne and there are not many people who want to and can afford to live in a shoebox in Richmond.

The SCG, the gabba, country bank stadium and homebush are a massive commute for most people in those local areas.
Im not sure about optus stadium and Adelaide oval as I have never been there.

Geelong's home ground is the last of the suburban home grounds which doesn't seem to bad for the locals to get to.

The MCG, Docklands, Optus and Adelaide are all well served by public transport. They’re not exactly hidden away where people can’t find them.

The oversaturation of footy media these days is nauseating. As if I give a flying you know what about what the likes of Kate McCarthy or Callum Twomey think or have to say. If hear one more mention of Zak Butter's contract this week I'm goin' to 🤮
I just stick games of interest on in the background each weekend and if it's exciting/appealing I pay attention, if it's not then I don't. Avoid the pre and post game stuff, plus all footy media otherwise. It's simpler and better that way.

This year the Metro Tunnel has changed things a little. On some lines (including the state's busiest), you can no longer get off at the closest station but have to go into the CBD, walk through a tunnel, catch another train back out then get to the MCG. It has added a small layer of inconvenience, but certainly made the trip 10 - 15 minutes longer at least.

I'm in Adelaide for Gather Round. Been x3 years in a row and will be last. The price gouging here is out of control. The game day experience at Adelaide Oval is horrid. Thank god I've got headphones to drown out the noise pollution they spit out. There's not a 5 second break from it. No chance of having a conversation. The games themselves have been average to poor too. Rule changes, umpiring, average skills and my team hasn't even played yet. Heaven help me! 🤪

Is the noise pollution any different from previous years?

The more I think about it, the more it's been a decisive factor in me attending fewer games. I mean, I'm more able to chat about it at home than in person.

It blows my mind that the AFL have a large archive of footy matches they refuse to broadcast again but will spam crummy talk shows everywhere.

The big 4 all being poor this season will impact overall attendances
Nah that's the old VFL Big 4.

The modern day Big 4 is Hawthorn/Geelong/Collingwood/Brisbane.

This sort of shit irritates me. We don't need a nothing update every 2 days. The worst part now it starts 2 years before the contract runs out. They're even pushing the Nick Daicos shit and he still has 3 years to run after this season.

Long gone are the days where players were allowed to let the contract come to a end before re-signing unless your list clogger. The media treat the population like goldfish.

Ratings are in the gutter for free to air TV. The grand final ratings will be down tenfold. Cats-Swans or Swans-Hawks rematch a PR nightmare for the AFL
Well we don't have to worry about the Pies featuring with their tedious 5 goals a game style
