Review Cats smash Lions by 41pts in battle of the felines GF rematch

Goals, goal assists and score involvements are coming into his game - including some great gut running bursts on the counter attack. He's backing himself in to hunt the ball more too and could easily end up a 20+ disposal per game sort of player who also makes life difficult for opposition midfielders.

the behind he kicked in the 1st quarter would have been a GOTY contender

Said it last week. Will say it again. Mannaghs a chance for all australian this year.
Already has 18 as a small forward, 40+ on the cards for the year.

Yeah you would expect he is a show.

2 quiet games is a dip by my metrics for any player - measured against their own standards
Mannagh had his 2 game blip against Hawthorn/WCE and then was poor when we all had a shocker against Port. If you look at his other 6 games collectively they've been excellent. The Dogs game he didn't hit the scoreboard but was heavily involved as a pseudo-midfielder. Then 5 (after this week) he's featured in coaches votes as a forward flanker.

There is a clear pattern emerging
Roos : Pies : Lions all the same
Cats start fast, build an early lead
Q2 opponent lifts, regain momentum
Q3 Cats raise pressure and attack
Cats keep ball in constant motion
Opponent can't match leg speed
Opponents defence breaks down
Cats pile on unanswered goals
Cats keep control of game tempo

This is different to previous years
With cats running back into space
Now run with overlapping handball
Switching ball, finding the loose man
There always is a forward target
Forwards stay apart, no double team.
Greater variety of scoring methods
Not relying solely on key forwards
More opportunistic, Harder to stop
All defenders are more attacking
Not relying on our aging superstars

Starting to believe Cats are contenders

Mullin has silenced all his critics
Bruhn needs to improve kicking

Disagreeing means you do think mannagh should be dropped and we should of not tried tonight. Bad claims at the time. Utterly bizarre in hindsight.
Honestly it doesn't. It means I'm sick of posters who use wins/losses as a chance to interrupt the autopsy thread with swipes at other posters rather than sharing the journey of following the team.

It's almost as if some of us watch the game more with an eye towards what snipe they can make in the gameday thread than whether we win or not.

Humphries another who’s well and truly back in form.

I thought he was excellent, did not make a mistake all night that I can recall, including splitting some contests where Lions forwards looked well set.
Ran really hard to counter-punch when he could. Really assured in the conditions and to my eyes he has added a little bit of starch to his commitment when it's a 50/50 contest.
Spike in form!

I am amazed how well we have played the last 2 weeks, great wins and again adjusting g the game plan to suit modern ways.

He's been superb.
All players have dips (or blips) here and there.
He is crucial to the way we play; love his willingness to take a shot on goal, and his contested/stoppage work anywhere forward of centre is stellar.
I'm a massive fan and he has continued on a recent-yet-fruitful streak of bringing in ''mature-aged'' players to the club; was just watching Podsiadly in action last night via Youtube highlights, and we saw yet another commanding game from Tom Stewart tonight.

Mannagh's dip (or blip) was noteworthy for the simple fact that he's barely played a single quiet game in his 45 appearances with the Cats to date.
Huge addition.

Which is a long-winded way of saying, yes, I agree.

What a sensational win, everyone has covered it well, both coaches gave great and humble pressers.
So glad I went 41-45 win in blind faith (and a feeling) and will buy a new lawn mower with it - thanks to Shaun and the boys, for this footy irrelevant weekend.

It's really no different to saying "maybe we shouldn't write off our players in such a reactionary way and flood them with over the top abuse for anything less than sustained perfection". People do the same in autopsy threads on the other side of the coin to rubbish players. That doesn't make it wrong or right, but it is simply the nature of how praising or criticising players tends to go on BigFooty. Surely people aren't so sensitive as to get triggered by that. It's how football forums have operated since they were created.
