Read it again Woosha, u obviously didn't quite understand. Harvey has been our only consistent player (over many years) with genuine pace. Abraham, Motlop, Harding, Pickett [when forward], these guys have never really been consistent over time.
As for Collingwood, Didak, Cole, Lockyer are...
Does anybody know what Moore's Law is?
It states that every 18 months, computer power will double.
What has this got to do with football? Not much on the surface but it does show what natural progression is.
Stevo, Simmo, Cable, Shimma, Mick, Aylett are all great in their own eras...
Forgot Harding, he was awful. Has no defensive side to his game at all and jogs most of the game.
Agree with Danny, need something forward, might even be time to give a guy like Hale a go, saw him today and he has definately worked on his upper body, just about right.
Harding has no defensive side to his game. He was woeful!
Denis didn't even look like trying tonight, same old mistakes. I feel for Dylan who didn't get much of a go. Should have put him on late, at least give him some experiance.
Had the same amount of possessions as Stevens (17), did four times as much with them. His effort was better than Stevo and Simpson combined. Nothing beats skills, and we couldn't today.
Hats off to Baird and Petrie when he was on, much better than Burton. Pagan was killed today, absolutely...
Just to explain myself, the reason Baird was out was because we can't have a side full of youngsters, or that is what the majority has been saying. Look up my reply to Shinners.
Baird has been OK, and has shown he will be a pretty good footballer, but we don't lose anything by putting Crowe...
Shinners,
I don't remember saying that I wanted the likes of Stevo and Simmo out. They get the ball but they do have deficiencies which are common to majority of the team. What I was trying to get at was that we needed to balance the use of these players with those of some younger, more...
Shinners,
U asked what team I would put in for this week, and I gave it.
I am not going to be drawn into completely destroying the fabric of the side to promote youngsters, no matter how much I would like to.
Robbins and Baird have been good, but I feel that it is time to see how two...
Time to put my money where my mouth is huh!
Here we go:
B: Archer Crowe Makepeace
HB: Teague McCartney Stevens
C: King Harris Pickett
HF: Harding Morrell D. Motlop
F: Colbert Rocca Clayton
Foll: Burton Simpson Harvey
I/C: Smith, Grant, Blakey, Porter
EMERG: Rawlings, Baird...
There should be no more pussy footing around, the Roos have to get serious and change the side. We can definately limp through this season and alright, but who wants to be involved in mediocrity.
Makepeace and Clayton are two great examples. One is too short to play a key defence role, and he...
Do u think it was a coincidence that the Roos best footy was played when Harris was on!
He had about 7 or 8 possies in the second quarter and was then benched. Although he rushed his possies on occassions, his kicking left guys like Stevo, Simpson and Grant for dead.
He should be a...
If we need any evidence as to why he should be in the team, have a look at the ball ups of the first quarter. In almost every contest he got his hands on the ball first.
Pity about the bump, but I think that attack showed his worth.
Have any of you seen Watson?
From my experiance the kid looks to be a natural. He is probably the best kick in the team at the moment, along with Crowe, and has pace to burn. Very good evasive skills too.
He does not have the Camporeale body type, he has a body that will be a little...
Our problem is that we have too many old style footballers, poor skills but a lot of heart.
Stevo may have had high teens possessions, but he was effective about only 5 or 6.
The WCE, Hawks and Cats showed what is needed, good runners with good skills.
How good is Judd!
We need to back...
Watt was our quickest defender, minus Motlop.
Otherwise, fairly good report. Side played bad in general, more of a statement about the team rather than individuals. The weaknesses of the day were the weaknesses of the team.
Watt didn't get into too many contests but he contested one in the last and went in at about 80%, not great but alright.
Colbert, I think he throws himself at marking contests but personally I think his knee prevents him doing much turning in a pack.
I would be wooried about Grant more!
Told you so!
Sorry, had to say it.
But what can we do? Lots of short passing drills, designated kickers, or new players?
Personally I think a lot of it has to do with our game plan. Pagan just doesn't seem to know what to do these days and I am wondering whether he has it in him to...
As long as they have pint sized glasses, I might have to make an appearance.
Haven't met the Bigfooty guys, could be interesting. Just have to make sure I get to the game!
Having had a decent look at this weeks teams (B4 selection), I think that the main match - ups will look a little like this :
HAWTHORN
Thompson Dixon
McCartney Archer...
Shannon Watt
Shannon Watt is I think 20, or 21. He has played about twenty five games or so I think.
In all of them, he has barely played the RIGHT position.
He is not a great defender, but a forward he can be.
Anyone who saw the Bulldog game towards the end of the second quarter or...
I thought I would bring up my age old beef with the team and see what you all thought, the skills!
There is no doubt that we are a hard team, and guys like Byron, Boomer and Motlop have great skills, but our midfield kicking is rather poor.
As good as Stevo and Simpson have been, their...
Unfortunately we lost today. It was only a matter of ten minutes in the second quarter that lead to our demise, the rest of the game being pretty even all round.
Only One change for the team tomorrow, IN: Morrell, OUT: Jones.
We didn't really play all that well. We seemed to muck around...
I am interested to hear peoples opinions on this guy. Having read some posts this week, some have been less than enthousiastic about his senior chances.
Have we all forgotten that he played his first game for the year, practice or otherwise, two weeks ago?
I have him as a definite for our...
Pagan told us his timetable for Colbert two weeks ago. He is behind on game time and should be dropped to the twos. Great player, but even great players need match practice.
This actually has two parts. The first is a long running problem, the second a problem this year.
FIRST
The Roos will never beat Sydney as long as they continue to fall for the Swans running game. Sydney designate one player per contested situation to be just off the ball to gain an...
