I've been throwing this around in my head for a while now but figured I'd just put ... pen to paper so to speak and get it out there.

Richmond has had a hard run over the last few decades, some could say self inflicted, others would say inflicted by the evil football gods, either way there's no denying the lack of results. The club has been through debt, coaching fall outs, five year plans, bad drafting, broken legs, trams, lost hopes and crushed seasons. We get laughed at, no big result in more than 30 years and less than a handful of appearances in the same time and no matter what you say, there's nothing that will change that fact until the boys make it and prove everyone wrong.

10th August 2009 was the day Brendan Gale was appointed CEO of the Richmond Football Club. Since joining the club a number of changes have happened, a number of changes that positioned the club to take the next step, a number of changes that have seen the mindsets of supporters shift, we believe again, the yellow and black blood is flowing once more and we know what's coming, the sleeping tiger has definitely awoken.

Really all I want to do is give some massive props to Benny and highlight some of the changes that have happened during his time at the club:
  • Recruitment of Damien Hardwick as Coach
  • Construction of the ME Bank Centre at Punt Road and all its facilities
  • Redevelopment of Punt Road Oval
  • Removal of Richmond Cricket Club at Punt Road
  • Introduction of the Fighting Tiger Fund to reduce debt and fund development
  • Successfully brought the Tiger Reserves back (from 2014)
  • Implemented a new Mission, Culture and Branding to the club
  • Actually reduced a lot of the clubs debt through effective cost management and the FTF
  • Obtained an additional $2 million over three years through sold home games
  • Hired numerous support staff, including recruitment and development positions
  • Surpassed 50,000 members at Richmond for the first time in the clubs history
I know there are more things out there and while not all of these things are directly because of Benny, my main point is that over the last few years the club has seen some big changes and change is implemented and managed well through strong leaders. As a supporter I am definitely happy to be here right now, I hope you all feel the same.

tl;dr <3 Benny

I posted a thread pretty similar to this about a month and a bit ago, saying Benny was one of, if not the most important piece in us being at the place where we are now. Most people say Dimma this, Dimma that. Yes, Dimma has been good and done what is right for the club, but it is Benny running the show behind the scenes. Doesn't get the plaudits he deserves.

Yep he has down all the right things off-field. Hopefully we can have some on-field success to hightlight this.

Unfortunately with afl, its a zero sum game. Some win and some lose. We lose. lol
