It's not his ability that is in question. It's his effrot. Despite Caddy kicking a couple on him last week, the free kicks Trainor gave away were clumsy at worst, but almost exciting at best as he stayed with Caddy step for step on the lead.

Today however. He was deadset awful (as were plenty of others). The difference is Trainor clearly has the physical potential to be a good player but it's his willingness for the contest that lets him down. His disposal is also shocking, but he is hardly Robinson Crusoe there with this side and can be forgiven.
I agree, seeing him be a step ahead and metre higher than Caddy on the lead was so exciting.

He'll be great on mobile lead up types, getting him to stand under a high balls wrestling with Curnow is just bad coaching or due to desperate needs on the day.

We all know that. The kid will be an ace in a few years.

Agreed, the role he performed yesterday was a tough one, physically he’s not up to it, but all part of his football education. He needs to be able to defend but he’ll prob never have the size or strength to match it with the big forwards

Moving Balta out of the backline has changed the dynamics down back. Hopefully we get another genuine KPD ( or hope that Annand proves capable) to play alongside Miller, releasing Trainor to the 3rd tall role.
If I was coach yesterday would have been a day to have Balta perma fb and ohb perma ruck
