Nab Cup Round 1:

Dees vs Geelong

Geelong was very active last year but can they do it this year also, Demons are very strong in the midfield and fowardline but the backline needs improving. Mooney on Carroll, Bartel on Bruce. will melbourne win or lose on there first 150th year match.

Can i ask. What is Melbourne's best forward line and midfield even go ahead and add players that haven't proven them selfs or based on potential ?

F: Davey Neitz Yze
HF: Bruce Miller Robo
MID: White McLean McDonald Green

Other players that could slot into this group are:

Moloney, Jones, Holland. possibly Bate and Sylvia (probably not proven).
Some would discount Miller. I would still say that our forward line and our midfield (which is weaker minus TJ) are our strong points. Our abilty to run is still very good and we are also good with disposal. Last year was a shocker everyone knows that.. but "we'll be back baby"

In this team I also tried to eliminate guys that were not proven players... without being bias.

but i expect/hope most of these players to step up in 2008.

I would also expect youngster in Maric to step into that foward line and also Grimey into the midfield.. but im not going to get into that with you.

I forgot that it was Geelong's 149th birthday. The two oldest teams in history.

Anyway, Carroll has been rubbed out for the first two pre-season matches. I would not expect Geelong to play guys such as Mooney, Bartel, Ablett, Ottens, etc... so early. They started their pre-season after everyone else, and they'll try to make sure they are ready to go for the real thing, not the NAB Cup. Which is good news for us, because it gives us a chance.

I'm not sure who we have ruled out (except for Carroll) but I wouldn't expect us to play our older brigade either. I want to see how our young blokes handle themselves in hostile territory against a quality (albeit, probably depleted) team.

If these three players play in those positions all season and can manage to kick 100+ goals between them the the Demons will be a very powerful team. :thumbsu:

Those 30 crunts still won the VFL flag. So they'll probably beat us.

Everyone knows that signing Philthy was the only reason they won that flag.
