Just watching the Seattle SeaHawks via New Orleans Saints in the Wildcard Playoff game and listening to the 12th man.

Now thats what we have to do this season!

Is the 19th man up to it?

Yeah Kirky, I'm sitting here watching it too and loving it! A Seahawks game is awesome!!

When the opposition have posession you sit down with your beer until they are about set up for a play. Then you get up for 10 - 30 seconds, scream your guts out and hope you have caused a false start penatly.

Then you sit down, chat to your mate, sip your beer and do it all again.

It is the loudest crowd of any sport I have been to. When the crowd creates a penalty they go even more boonta!

The 12th man creates the most mistakes of any team in the NFL & over the last few seasons they have needed it.

Get this happening at a Crows game and it would be awesome.

Unbelievable game at the moment - Who would have thought the Seahawks would look this good?

Big difference between AFL and NFL is that the ball is only in play for 11 minutes in NFL Football - its a hell of a lot easier to cheer your lungs out for 11 minutes then keeping it sustained for 4 quarters of 25-30 minutes.

Three false starts today and the noise is unbelievable. I need to get to one of these games in the future.

Seattle is a lovely city to visit (with Vancouver only 3 or so hours away) and it is in a beautiful part of the country with the Cascades and Mt Rainier nearby.

Glad the Seahawks are doing the job today. Don't like the Saints (or Colts for that matter).

Agreed but there are moments when we can do it - when it is in their forward 50 and shots at goal (and that means the whole ground not just that end!).

their stadium design is also perfect for it too - it retains all its noise despite an open air normal stadium and not a dome.

AAMI's bowl shape and lack of cover doesn't help retain noise.

lol. I never knew a game lasts under an hour, here I was thinking it was a 3 hour affair. :D

It was designed that way :)
oh wait, you're an NFL regular, you already know that
sorry :(

Good work. The ball is actually only in play for 11 minutes chief... The rest is them in the huddle, setting up, commercials, and time outs...

If you are going to be smug and correct someone at least read the post correctly - i clearly stated that the ball is only in play for 11 minutes.. never did i say the game lasts under an hour...

Yep. 2.5 hours of planning and discussions and 11 minutes of actual work.

It's like State Government. ;)

No different to most NFL games I've been to....the crowd noise when the opposition are attacking is phenomenal (primarily to put the QB off, and so his teammates can't hear his instructions). The 19th man was actually based on what they do here....just that it doesn't quite have the same effect in Aussie Rules...

In terms of effect of the 19th man - I felt during the year the 'non-goal assists' was reasonbly high most games.

Might make sometime to go and create stats on it.

having said that our own goal kicking at AAMI is nothing to write home about.. might be worth comparing Port vs Our oppisition conversion rates. Esp for the same teams over the last 2 years....
