Looking at it from his point of view. He has spent his entire AFL career at Port, his only reason for a move would be for family reasons. The Crows only have money and a long term contract. He could get that and probably more from Port.
If he was to sign with us, it would permanently break all ties with his former club. And it gets him no closer to his family.
Not to mention the draft picks required to get the deal done.

Why not just not lose Butts? Anyway, Bell is not tracking well after looking good in the preseason, playing against us.

No, but the way he's going we'd probably get an end of first round pick for him. Package that up with our natural first and we could be in the running for a top mid. (The problem then becomes whether we rely on a Murray/Keane pairing.)

I don’t think that’s only reason for him to move. Port are staring down the barrel of a rebuild.

Look, i don't want to lose him at all from Sturt as he is such a key, but Will Coomblas from sturt has been state CHB / Fullback for a few years running. He is 193cms but he is a damn good defender

Bell looked OK in the preseason trial games but he's been found wanting defensively on occasions in the SANFL proper season. For me currently I'd be in no rush to sign him up unless he makes a fair bit of headway in the lead up to the MSD.

Quite happy to not have done that, but its something we need to address at seasons end.

McAndrew certainly looks the part, but we're only an injury away from having ROB back for an extended period

I think more teams will come calling for Butts this year anyway, and not just Vic teams

WC supporters really want him
