2004- Our Superdraft???

Apart from Meesan and Gibson this group could play a major part in our next flag.

VB and Knights were steals as well. Considering we picked Meesan in first pick, in hindsight there are not many better players than VB between picks 8 and 24.

No genuine elite stars in that lot IMO, with only Knights a chance of achieving 'elite' status. But with van Berlo, Knights, Maric being very good players together with Moran showing potential I think it was a pretty good draft.

I think the 2007 draft will prove to be 'our' superdraft. Dangerfield, Walker, Petrenko are all capable of becoming genuine stars IMO. With Kite, Otten and Cook looking very promising.

07 has potential. We all should know that potential and reality are sometimes poles apart.

i certainly wouldnt classify it as a 'superdraft'. see what geelong did in 2001 i think it was - now what was a superdraft!

its definitely good to very good though, esp considering we also got griff in the rookie draft.

Yes and no, have to admit VB and Knights are good players who can become elites, but 07 has so much more potential. We look like genuine contenders in the near future. Maric looks like to be a great ruckman, with maric and griffen could be a deadly ruck pair.

I would love to see the youngsters play in the nab cup, and hopefully show us sumthing great. But the crows have done a great job with the youngsters and we could be a dangerous side in the next couple of years.

I think you'll find that vB, Maric, Knights and even Moran to a certain extent would currently be in the top 20-25 players from that draft, and as such, we've done very very well. I certainly thing there is an arguement for both Knights and vB being in the top ten. While they may not be Judds, given on the performance of others from that draft, our recruiters did very well it would seem.

7. Lewis
8. Egan (could be higher if not for injuries)
9. Knights
10. Bate (could be higher if he played for a better team)
Could have possibly squeezed Rosa and Lecras in there.

The ranking will probably change over the coming years as players from that draft improve or regress with experience.

Add Jonathon Griffin to that list too, picked up in Rookie Draft.

Obviously we could see Hudson was out the door in near future (dicipline??) and of course Bighlands age, picking up three Ruckmen.

We all suffer from that occasionally. I would agree that Cloke is above vB but Lewis is only on par IMO.

Hudson had only been with us a year, I think it was more a case of Biglands and Clarke getting on and we decided the time was right to stock up on some quality rucks whilst they were available.

Was a very good draft for us however, although I think we might find the '05 draft period has a greater potential to produce top class talent in Vince, Porplyzia and even Douglas, however he's still developing.
