Jackson Browne
The Dells
George Harrison
Prince
Bob Seger
Traffic
ZZ Top

What do you think? Jackson Browne and George Harrison are among my favourite artists... I haven't heard of The Dells or Traffic.

Traffic were a UK psychedelic band from the late 60's featuring Steve Winwood and Jim Capaldi. Their best known song in Oz is probably "Hole in my shoe".

Sounds like the "soft" rock and roll fame to me.

Being a massive Prince fan I am very excited about his induction. 2004 could possibly be a huge year for Prince. 20th anniversary of Purple Rain along with a Grammy Nomination as well.

I wonder which of the current crop of recording artists will be still be around when they become eligible for induction in 25 years time?!!

Why did it take so long for George Harrison to be inducted?

He became eligible for induction as a soloist in about 1995... that'd be 25 years since All Things Must Pass I think.

As for it being "soft" rock and roll... not really. AC/DC and The Clash are in there from last year, and The Ramones and Queen and Aerosmith for examples of heavier rock. They don't become eligible until 25 years after their first recording, so a lot of the heavier rock and roll music wouldn't have actually arrived yet, would it?

I've also been a huge jackson Browne fan since the mid seventies so i'd consider his induction worthy.

Not fussed much either way with the others.

Not overly familiar with The Dells or Traffic, but the others are all very worthy inductees.

Bob Seger and Jackson Browne are two who are probably very underrated by Australian audiences because of a lack of chart success, but they are stalwarts who have done original stuff and sold it by the truckload.

Bob Seger's popularity in the US might surprise people elsewhere.

The Dells - 1960s and 70s black, harmony, vocal group. Well worth a visit, if you can locate them.
