A seriously impressive crop for us. 2 in the leadership group (Ballantyne, DeBoer). 7 in the best 22 from 1 draft is amazing. I thought at the beginning of the year Nic Suban would fade into obscurity but his form has turned around and is maintaining his spot in the 22 on form. The same could be said about the career of Clancee Pearce and Michael Walters before Ross Lyon got them on the straight and narrow.

Just think about the following:
Melbourne: Watts (1), Blease (17), Strauss (19), Bennell (35), Jetta (51), Bail (64), Jurrah (PSD), McKenzie (r1), Healey (r17), Hughes (r33)

It couldve been an even better draft if Timmy Ruffles hadnt had 2 knee recons. The guy had plenty of ticker and skill (for one drafted so late). Its a pity his body couldnt hold up.

This Draft really made our list, similar to how the 2001 draft made Geelongs. Mind you I think we have drafter really well in subsequent drafts as well.

The only pick I think we could have improved was Chris Hall, we could have gotten Tom Rockliff there.

You could make an argument that Beams or Hanneberry would have been a better pick than Suban.
Also we could have taken Zaharakis at 21 and Balla would have still been there at 24.
So effectively we could have had Balla and any of the 3 above, all of whom are probably better players than Suban.
