A lot of talk about who will be the best of the number ones, and i think in coming years our BNF nights will reflect a bingo night, because we are going to have so many guns, we won't know whose number will pop up(although i did like legs 11 this year) :p

Who do you guys think had the better season this year, Giblett or Shmurf?

IMO i think gibbs will end up being better, but i think he has a long way to catch up to murph. Murph has been a gun all season, and so many times in our best. Second on our list in contested possesions, 10th in the league for disposals. In our top 5 for most of our stats. He has had an unbelievable year and will only get better.

Gibbs on the other hand played the second half of the season in the midfield and has turned into an out and out gun. The call i made about Gibbs possibly winning our next brownlow doesn't seem so far fetched ey?

So what you reckon guys, who had the better year?

this year, wow its hard to say,
I really think its even ,
coz Murphy's 1st half was better than Gibbs,
but I think Gibbs's second half was better than Murphy's

In future I think Gibbs will be better than Murphy, but their both superstars
great question Rolandinho , should get a lot of different responses.
a nice tough one

Murph has been consistent all year, but needs to work on his kicking.

Gibbs overtook Murph halfway through the year, and hasn't looked back.

Tough call, but for the whole year I have Murph just ahead, but if I voted the way they do for most awards (rewarding recent efforts more than past ones) then Gibbs easily.

Unless Murph fixes all his kicking issues then Gibbs will go past him next year at a rate of knotts.:thumbsu:

Murphy was a good, solid performer all season long, with some exceptional games.

Gibbs took a while to really hit his straps, but once he did, there was no looking back. Besides probably Fevola, I think Gibbs was our best player over the second half of the season which is a great achievement.

I'd have to give it to Murph, but only just. I expect Gibbs to overtake Murph from next season.

Well thats easy murphy was better throughout the whole year, we all thought his kicking was a problem, but he fixed that up in the later stages. He gets that much of the ball and runs all day. It's hard to compare these two players, because some of the things that gibbs does is just unbelievable and only in his second year, will become the next james hird imo ,brownlow and all.

Gibbs is more noticeably brilliant; just a great all-round player with the ability to do the extraordinary.

Murphy continues to surprise me, though. A great ball-winner, surprisingly quick, and consistent. Has some issues kicking for goal, but improved in confidence in this area and looks like he will continue to do so. If he can learn to gut-run, will basically be a Ben Cousins clone (without the drug habit).

I'd still put money on Gibbs being better, but very much in a Judd/Cousins relationship.

im going with gibbs even though i love murphs. gibbs showed alot of potiental in the second half of the year. there both superstars!!

I was at the Adelaide game in Adelaide. Bryce Gibbs really impressed, more so than Murph. Bryce looks to have that ability to break a game open. Both however will be equally important to our future as we challenge for flag number 17.

Of course I too am impressed with both but think for a little guy like Murph to keep up with Gibbsy or survive long-term he has to body up like Bryce has begun too - he has to be a ball of muscle like Cousins, Kerr, Harvey, Harvey (at this stage he is still too close to the Stevo body mould)

Gibbs for mine. Who could forget the job he did on Goodes.

I find myself frustrated with Murphy at times. His disposal and his lack of awareness.

A lot missing the point of this thread. It is not who is better overall, but who has been better this season.

Gibbsy took a lot longer to get going, and when he did, he was playing defensive roles, not gamebreaking roles.

Recent form is all about Gibbsy, but weighted over the whole year, Murph has been pretty consistent.

This season you have got to give it to Murph... No question he will rate higher at the B & F, has been far more consistent and has had more exceptional games...
Murphy did go trough a period in the middle of the year where his field kicking was off but looks to have rectified that later in the season. His goalkicking also seems to have improved as was eveident with his 2 ultra important goals in the win against Brisbane....

Murph reminds me a lot of Ablett Jnr, same strength in the legs and very difficult to tackle... Give him anothe 2 yrs to strengthen up even more and improve his kicking skills and he will b very hard to stop.

Gibbs does look to have that Hird magic about him and really started to shine this year. Has a defensive side to his game that i don't think Jimmy Hird ever had, makes him extremely valuable. This year was a breakout year for Bryce and nxt year should see more consistency and confidence.

On this season Murph takes the cake, on raw talent you would have to go with Gibbsy so lets see who works harder at their development and is first to snag a brownlow!!!

Go Blues!

Murphy by our eyes had a better over all year, but like many have said Gibbs 2nd half of the year was a bit of a taste of what were going to get throught the next 15 years...

If i had to select one Murphy

But we dont know the intricacies of the team stucture and rolls.... so for a team perspective maybe the coaching staff will give it to Gibbs

B & F night it will all be revealed
