Beams is not slow, gets a lot more of it, kicks more goals. He was a top 5 mid in 2012. Zaka has never been in the top 20 in any year. You would gain much more than you would lose.Beams has a much easier ride as he's in a far deeper midfield and gets tagged less often. He is more consistent, no argument there, and he is better inside but he is nowhere near as explosive and is not as dangerous a forward regardless of what statistics you want to claim. There is no way we would trade Zaharakis for Beams, it would be a step backwards for our midfield!

If we were to swap out Beams for Zaka our midfield would become even more one paced and Ben Howlett or Jake Melksham would be our best mids capable of breaking the lines.
Can't see Essendon trading Zaka for Beams especially when you consider his form pre fracturing his back this season.

Beams is not slow. If your were to swap Zaka or Beams your midfield will be much better. there is no if and but about it. you are overrating Zaka so much or underrating Beams.

Zaharakis isn't that much quicker than Beams it's his willingness to take the game on and carry the ball that makes him vital to our side which lacks those types of players.
I went on a combination of what the players have achieved and what clubs look for (i.e. ruckmen and KPPs more valued):
1. Nic Naitanui
2. Dayne Beams
3. Dan Hannebery
4. Steven Motlop
5. Rory Sloane
6. Steele Sidebottom
7. David Zaharakis
8. Hamish Hartlett
9. Jack Ziebell
10. Daniel Rich
11. Jack Redden
12. Luke Shuey
13. Stephen Hill
14. Michael Hurley
15. Jack Watts
16. Michael Walters
17. Jordan Roughead
18. Matthew Broadbent
19. Liam Anthony
20. Phil Davis
Love my kangas but Anthony is not in front of Vickery, Clarke, Shiels, Ballantyne, Schoenmakers, Yarren and Robinson.I went on a combination of what the players have achieved and what clubs look for (i.e. ruckmen and KPPs more valued):

Disagree Beams has shown he can beat the tag and if anything dealing with a tag is still a question that hangs over Zaharakis's head. I don't think Beam is quite level with the top 3 young up coming elite mids in Fyfe, Dangerfield and Cotchin but he's definitely leading the pack of the next tier down imo
Quit while you are ahead.
Beams wasn't massively rated - GC wanted him to wait a year and place him on their list. It was considered that Collingwood reached in selecting Beams at 29. Hie performances were downrated because he played only against Division 2 teams in the Under 18 championship.
There is only one player named that is better then Beams and only marginally in Dangerfield.
People have memories of a gold fish and due to that Beams is being underrated due to a long injury layoff last year a full injury free preseason will have him squarely back in peoples minds.
Disagree he just doesn't have the stand out attributes such as Dangerfield's explosiveness or Fyfe's contested marking and he isn't as damaging around stoppages as Cotchin who regularly uses core strength and evasiveness to break free from stoppages in a similar vein to Ablett.
Well I would rather Cotchin 9 times out of 10 vs Beams, Cotchin has Beams covered, just like Zaharakis has Sidebottom covered and Beams has Zaharakis covered.
you can disagree all you want but out of these 4 it is
1. Cotchin
2. Beams
3 Zaharakis
4. Sidebottom
Also Sidebottom is definitely above Zaharakis.
I rate Zaka>Sidebottom but unless you give finals performance extremely highly I fail to see how you could have one significantly better than the other.

Dangefield and Cotchin are on a very different level to fyfe.

He was rated by our recruitment team a first rounder but we new he would be there at our 2nd round pick but not 3rd hence why we pounced once Sideass slipped who was touted to go top 10.
1. Dangerfield
2. Fyfe
3. Cotchin
Your hate towards Freo is clouding your judgement. Fyfe is pretty bloody awesome.
