Draft Review 2008 - Re-do the 2008 draft

If that's your definition, then, I agree, neither Beams or Hanners are elite.

If you take a more liberal definition, then, of the 2008 draft class, they are the two that are in at this point.

Which of his 12, 15 or 18 possession games he has had this year make him elite?

You haven't watched his last 5 games? If not, then you might want to go to the site where you got his stats from for his first 3 games and have a look.

Hanners, like most of our side had a slow start to the year, not the case now.

Still have Beams slightly ahead.

In 6 of his last 14 games he has had under 20 possessions, that's a lot of slow
Beamers had 6 games of under 20 possession since rd 22 2010.
As for Hanners 5 games this article talks about how good Beams has actually been since 2012

Sidebottom2Beams, why are you even arguing or picking a fight? He has clearly already stated he has Beams ahead of Hannerbery?

Hannebery's certainly good but I think he's a bit overrated. He absolutely did not deserve All Australian selection last year - Fyfe was much, much better. Still top five from this draft but I can't see him ever being close to a top ten midfielder (and if you think he was close last year then I just disagree, even with all the Brownlow votes he got).

His first half of last year he was as good as any player in the comp. His form has tailed a bit, but to be just about the best player in the comp for a significant period of time (not saying he was better than Ablett, but his form was as good) means you're doing something pretty special.

Hanners himself has admitted at the end of last year that after his awesome start to the 2013 season opposition sides were putting more work into him, including sending their best taggers, it's something he hadn't had to deal with before and said he had to work through. Like the rest of the midfield he was cooked by the finals.

Right now he is playing better than he ever has.

His game against the Hawks was probably the best non-Gaz/non-Fyfe individual performance of the year, too. Huge effort.

Ooh he plays a good game or 2 and all of a sudden he's a superstar. Lol
He has been good all season.

I'll admit Sloane is better right now.
What has Nic Nat done lately? He is the guy the media loves frothing over when he does nothing.
Hartlett is good, but Yarran has more x-factor to him and is probably on par with him performance wise. Hurley is vastly overrated, couldn't cut it as a forward, has been okay as a back but again would you rather him or Yarran who can be a match winner?

As for the others, they're all pretty good but you can find your run of the mill mids in any draft. Guys like Yarran are unique. As for Jack Watts well that is just ridiculous and Daniel Rich has been inconsistent.

That was only last year and was attitude related. Was quite inconsistent last year, but had a fine 2011, an okay 2012 and is arguably in career best form this year.

Its simple.. If you draft a "gun" in the first round (as high as pick #6) you don't use him as trade bait

You could much rather use: Beams, Sidebottom, Sloane, Redden, Hartlett, Shuey & even Rich throughout the guts.
Natanui > Kreuzer and/or Warnock
Watts and Hurley would be more valuable to Carlton right about now as well. They could both either fill a hole down forward or down back in a key position.
