I think we had Blakely running with him for the first half tonight.
It's funny now looking back at all the crap we copped for taking S.Hill over him.
Both disappointing for early picks.

Not really, Hill is a fine player. Both disappointing for early picks.

Rich maybe a bit disappointing but still a decent pick.
Sloane is an excellent player but given the positions they play and the consistency Hurley has shown (2 x AA Player) I would pick him over Sloane every single hour of every single day of every single year without hesitation.Hurley over Sloane lord have mercy

So you would trade Merrett for Talia? Without hesitation?Sloane is an excellent player but given the positions they play and the consistency Hurley has shown (2 x AA Player) I would pick him over Sloane every single hour of every single day of every single year without hesitation.
Beams is a better player than Sloane. It's just injury that would lower his ranking.I reckon Beams has a decent case for at least top 3, is he really that far behind Sloane who is arguably first?

This is a super weird comparison becauseSo you would trade Merrett for Talia? Without hesitation?
I would take Hurley 1st but there are kids I would prefer. Sloane is just not one of them.
This is a really useless comment in a thread dedicated to ranking the 2008 draft class.Sloane or Hurley who really cares, both guns.
It's one of those win wins.
If he hadn’t been injured so much he’d be number 1. Would have at least 2-3 AA’s under his belt instead of just the one so far.I reckon Beams has a decent case for at least top 3, is he really that far behind Sloane who is arguably first?

Talia is 2 time AA he is every bit the equal. This is a super weird comparison because
A Merrett (2013) and Talia (2009) aren't even from the same draft class which is what this discussion is about.
B the comparison would indicate that Talia is the equal of Hurley. He's a good solid player but not anywhere near the offensive footballing talent of Hurley.
He averaged 25 touches as a KPD this year.
I'm not picking Hurley over Sloane just because he's a key position player. I'm picking him because in terms of flexibility as well as consistency across his entire career, he's been a better performed player.

I find it humorous how many people don't rate nic. His possession count is never high and he doesn't take a tonne of marks. He simply cannot be compared with other ruck man in terms of output. He makes everyone around him better, is a midfield bull, creates a tonne of pressure on his opponents, does a heap of 1%s, and does freakish things nobody else can do. He is a genuine match winner.Hurley, Beams, Sloane all much better players than Nic Nat

It's games like these were his impact is massive without it really showing stats wise:
If he played for a Vic club Everyone over there would be raving about him continually

I've contemplated it many times. Most journos in Victoria only focus on the 10. Because there are only two here we look at everyone else toolol Does it cross your mind that maybe you are the bias ones? You've got 2 teams over there to focus on. We have 10. We are more likely to be less bias.
Youve shifted it to journos... nobody listens to journos in Vic. Only nuffies do.I've contemplated it many times. Most journos in Victoria only focus on the 10. Because there are only two here we look at everyone else too
LmaoNic Nat is the best ruck in the comp in my opinion. Like Cyril, his influence speaks so much louder than his stat sheet.

Solid argument.Lmao
And if you picked Sloan ahead of Hurley you'd be saying the exact opposite thing.Sloane is an excellent player but given the positions they play and the consistency Hurley has shown (2 x AA Player) I would pick him over Sloane every single hour of every single day of every single year without hesitation.
lol, He's 2 x All-Australian, and his ability to actually defend against an opponent exceeds Hurley's easilyThis is a super weird comparison because
