As you all should realise, we almost traded Lovett last year.

Lovett for Prismall, is what I believe almost happened.

But, unfortunately, Geelong couldn't afford Lovett, and we ended up trading our 39th Pick (steven motlop) for Prismall.

In Conclusion:

Essendon - Lovett and Prismall
Geelong - Pick 39 (Steven Motlop)

Though in a few years time Steven Motlop may end up being better then the both of them, currently, we have Lovett shining in the 1's and Prismall just waiting to erupt

Essendon Wins:D:thumbsu:

hahaha yeah ... cats got a roar deal i guess, but the salary cap pressure placed on a club can be a real bitch. As we've found out in the past.

I just hope if all our players hit their potential that there will be enough room on the budget to maintain them all.

Re: 2008 Trade Week Recnognition Thread

or we could buy them off well before they hit their potential ;)

I dont think that the stumbling block was money.

- Geelong wanted EFC to take Tenace to free up cap space for Lovett - ---- And EFC wanted to swap Pick 15 for 23, so that they had 2 first round draft picks.

The second point could have been negotiated but EFC didn't want Tenace under any circumstances, and therefore Geelong couldn't fit Lovett into the Salary cap.

Bit pre-mature, we were lucky as. Also, who says we would have picked Motlop? I know they did but Essendon don't need another small forward.

I have never been more relieved in trade week then when I found out we were keeping Lovett.

Prismall has done nothing yet but if he's as good as his reputation then we're laughin'.

One of the most hyped up hacks I think I've seen (Mitch Robinson).

He plays for Carlton, so it's hardly his fault.

Just seems to do a couple of things pretty well but nothing really well. That said, Bolts did cop a lot he didn't deserve and did play 100+ games. You'd take that from someone you draft that late.

Bolton was also a master at closing Goodes down. He should return to play for us when we play the Swans.

I certainly wouldn't knock his on-field effort. Just appears to lack any real football ability.

You know, he actually reminds me of Mark Bolton...

I would never have thought of that but now that you mention it i can see where you are coming from. The way they move and kick is quite similiar. Robinson will also be nothing more than a goer so they have that in common also.
