This thread is used to maintain the POTY votes from throughout the season.

First things first; the acronyms. POTY stands for Player of the Year. This is your typical best on ground votes.

BTM is the Best Team Man, everyone has their own definition of this but generally it involves the player that does the one percenters, the player who plays multiple positions or the bloke that does the big defensive role that may not win best on ground votes.

The ROTY is the Rookie of the Year which simply put awards votes to the best players from the Crows under the age of 23 who have played less than 15 AFL games.

Any Adelaide board poster is eligible to post votes for each round but ones seemingly meant to joke, or are too far from the suggested format are generally disregarded.

Voting will be closed each Wednesday afternoon immediatley following the game regardless of the time of the game.

To ensure equity between rounds (there is typically a drop off in losses) the votes are awarded as a total of each round rather than a full tally of the votes.

The winners last year for POTY was Nathan Bock, the Best Team Man was Robert Shirley and the Rookie of the Year was David Mackay.

This year, due to the predicted onslaught of eligible rookies we have agreed to change the format to:

POTY

Round 1

Round 1 saw Adelaide claim a nailbiting victory at the home of football against the Magpies.

Adjudged the best on ground by Adelaide posters was Andrew Benjamin Button Mcleod followed by Bernie Vince, Tyson Edwards, Nathan Bock and Scott Stevens.

In the Best Team Man Ivan Maric showed the benifit of roughing up John Anthony to gain 3 votes, with Richard Douglas and Scott Stevens taking the minor points.

In a ROTY with 5 players on the field with less than 3 games experience debutant Jarred Petrenko took out the 3 votes with strong form by the relatively experienced Andy Otten and Patrick Dangerfield taking the minor points.

Round 2

Round 2 saw the Crows play their first game at home on a Friday night where they were well beaten by the umpiring panel, with a bit of assistance from St. Kilda. Perhaps most memorable from this game will be the lopsided free kick count and Nathan Bock's assault charge.

High in the best players were the evergreen Tyson Edwards and the welcome return of Graham Johncock. Nathan Bock and Jason Porplyzia and David Mackay and Kurt Tippett were unable to be separated for the minor votes.

The Best Team Man was again resoundingly resolved in Ivan Maric's favour with good performances by Johncock and Porplyzia.

The Rookie was a close shootout between Otten and Dangerfield with Otten taking the honours.

Yes it was, and don't worry about deleting it, these treads have generally involved rambling discussion:thumbsu:

He's started much better this year than last, when after a few rounds I though it may be the end.

Great stuff by Mr Consistant.

Round 3

Round 3 saw the Crows travel to Subiaco to stage a last quarter fightback to take the points by 4 goals. This match was also notable for the Rising Star nomination of best on ground Patrick Dangerfield. Jason Porplyzia's 4 goals saw him get 4 votes with the minor votes going to Douglas, Reilly and Edwards.

Richard Douglas' energy also saw him take the Best Team Man votes from Doughty and Symes.

Patrick Dangerfield naturally got the ROTY votes despite strong games from Walker (3.3) and Otten.

On a Saturday Night at Football Park Adelaide was defeated by 8 goals to footballing powerhouse Geelong in a dominant display.

Judged BOG for the Crows was Jason Porplyzia with 3 goals against perennial AA FB Mathew Scarlett with strong games also from David Mackay and Tyson Edwards.

Nathan Van Berlo was voted best team man ahead of Kurt Tippett and Brent Reilly.

Andy Otten's consitant form continued getting the rookie votes ahead of Taylor Walker and Jarred Petrenko.

Danger got all of his 5 votes for POTY in round 3, but Otten has had a far more consistent output which was rewarded in the ROTY award. Kinda like how club B&F rewards different players to Brownlow voting. Otten has actually polled pretty well in the POTY and BTM awards, but not quite enough to get the points that matter.

Ok thats what I was kinda thinking

Our Mr Benjamin Button :D:D
CarlBarron.jpg

Our very own Carl Barron (minus the humor). :D

I bet that if the AFC held their B&F right now, Goodwin would definitely be ahead of Dangerfield and Mackay - they must rate 25 meaningless disposals every week.

Round 5

Round 5 saw Adelaide beat Melbourne at the MCG in one of the most insipid football games ever sat through.

Best players were Tippett, Vince and Goodwin and Tippett was also judged the Best Team Man.

Best rookies were Otten and Cook with the abstention being used for the first time all season.

Round 6

Round 6 saw an insipid effort in the first showdown of the year to go down to the Powerpuff Girls. Bernie Vince was adjudged the Crows best by all but one poster, but it would be unfair to single out NSWCROW here, with BOOO-ock and Johncock also having strong games.

Due to Vince's efforts he took the lead from Tyson Edwards.

Petrenko took out the best team man votes ahead of Johncock and Vince.

Otten took the ROTY votes to extend his lead.

Any chance of letting us know who gets the 2 & 1 POTY votes in your little summaries, Jo? I'm sure I wouldn't be the only one who is curious but can't be bothered cross-checking with the previous round scores.

(Not having a dig at you here BTW, your efforts in tallying the votes are very much appreciated)

No worries, FWIW Otten got the two votes, and Thommo got the one, despite polling a meagre 16 votes:o

Round 7

Round 7 saw Adelaide sustain a loss to the Western Bulldogs with a complete mental breakdown in the 3rd quarter.

Best Players in order were Taylor Walker with 4.3, Scott Thompson with 32 touches, Chris Knights 25 possessions and 3 goals, Kurt Tippett and Graham Johncock.

Kurt Tippett was also adjudged best team man for his lion hearted effort in the ruck with Scott Thompson and Ben Rutten splitting the remaining three votes. This enabled Tippett to take the lead in BTM voting.

Taylor Walker was also adjudged the best rookie from Andy Otten and Patrick Dangerfield.
