I've been thinking about this for awhile after hearing it relentlessly from the media and personally I don't think we are that underdone at all.
The most important area for any team is the spine
Spine
Scarlett (missed 2 games)
Taylor (missed 2 games)
Ling\Bartel
Mooney
Tom-o-Hawk
The games our backs have missed serves more as a freshen up than anything
Now the most important area for the cats is the midfield
Midfield
Ablett (3 game)
Bartel
Selwood
Corey
Ling (1 game)
Chapman (4games?)
I personally classify 4 or more games in a row as loss of fitness and or form.....so the midfield is fine
Now for arguably our worst area the forward line.....the structure in Mooney and Tom-o-Hawk is fine but the flanks\pockets have been a little in and out in S Johnson and form of Stokes\Burns. But remember we are number 2 for points score in 2009 (ahead of St)
So that leaves us with the following underdone players Kelly Otto Harley and S Johnson
Johnsons - last 3 games have been important and very planned by the coaching staff (was never going to play tonight)
Harley - same as above......both will be right to go in round 22 with enough base to perform close to their best
Otto - I’m really not sure where I stand with him......not sure we should play him at all
Kelly - needs to play the full game next week to even get a look in
Personally I think the base of the team is fine and ready to show its best. Out of tonight’s game I’m hoping for a 20ish point win with the following having solid games Stokes, Gamble, Blake and Wojo along with the usual suspects.
Thoughts?
