If we are seriously talking about Port, what happens if Lade or Brogan or both go down with long term injuries. Can't say they have any outstanding young ruckmen ready to go and you can't survive in this comp without a decent ruck division.

We'll be relying on a lot going right for us to be a premiership threat this year. Im relatively happy with how our list looks though.

Re: the ruck...Giles is physically very much ready to go. Whether he is any good is still up in the air. Lobbe has done everything right to get himself ready as well.

That's called opinions.

They're a bit like a-holes - everybody's got one. :D

And they all stink.... :p Just like this one:

Geelong
Hawks
St Kilda
Bulldogs
Collingwood
Adelaide
Carlton
Port

Richmond (not a joke)
North Melbourne
Sydney
Freo
Essendon
Brisbane
West Coast
Melbourne

1. Geelong
2. Hawks
3. Doggies
4. Pies
5. Kangas
6. Port
7. Crows
8. Saints

9. Tigers
10. Blues
11. Lions
12. Swans
13. Dons
14. Freo
15. Eagles
16. Demons

But in all honesty, anyone on that list from 4th-13th could end up in any position depending on a variety of factors, most notably injuries. I just hope the crowies make finals football again and stick it to all the critics :)

Riggy, that post will be interesting to look back on come September. Very optimistic on your behalf I feel...
yeah I threw 4 50/50s our way.

rd 1 against Collingwood

the home games against Hawthorn and Geelong.

And another game I cant remember.

Don't think I posted one earlier so here goes:

Geelong (Premiers) - Still the best team in the comp, will learn from last year.
Hawthorn - Grand finalists, got a touch lucky in 08 I feel, Geelong will exact their revenge
Collingwood - The beginning of a bunch of also rans (finishing with Sydney) who I feel will all be around the mark for finals, but really have no hope in hell of winning the premiership, 2 will make the top 4, 3 will miss the 8 altogether.
Western Bulldogs - Still got a good side, should be up there.
Carlton - On the rise, but too many holes to be a genuine chance
Kangaroos - Always written off, but IMO will be around the mark again
Adelaide - Similar to the Roos, definitely a development year, but we still have an extremely solid core group of players who will keep us in the 8.
Richmond - They won't know what to do with themselves when they make the 8, but i suspect that they will get there.
------------
Port Adelaide - Improvement on last year, I guess could finish a lot higher, a heap of talent, but extremely inconsisent and un-predictable, not really sure whether to place them top or bottom 4, settled for somewhere in the middle.
St. Kilda - Bit similar to the power, got the list, but will they use it?
Sydney - Will still fight hard, but I think they're going to struggle to make the 8 this year.
West Coast - A lot of new players, will have a few shock upset wins, but just feel there's too many new faces to genuinely challenge for the 8, watch out in a couple of years though.
Essendon - Yeah, well, some good, still too reliant on Lucas, Lloyd, Hird and Sheedy:p, shame 2 of them aren't there anymore:D
Brisbane - Got all the parts to make a genuine top 4 challenge, to me, though they just don't seem to fit together though. Comes back to the old Champion team beats a team of Champions. They've got plenty of game breaking stars and a well balanced list on paper, but just look a shambles out on the field.
Fremantle - Well, you don't turn over half your list and expect to do much better than 15th, a long road ahead for Freo fans.
Melbourne - Major rebuild going on, similar situation to Freo.

Basically, there are 2 standout sides and 9 or 10 other sides to potentially join them in the top 4, should be interesting to watch these sides battle it out.

For mine:

Geelong - still the best
Hawthorn- a bit lucky last year but still in GF
Collingwood - Good but not good enough
Port Adelaide - I hate myself for writing this. Tanked last year. Still have list to be good enough for top 4.
Western Bulldogs-will win enough games but not enough to really threaten
St. Kilda-good list, crap culture
Carlton- improvement but defense is weak
Adelaide-rebuilding but still competitive
Sydney- on a slow slide
Richmond- a bit better but not enough
North Melbourne- sliding into oblivion
West Coast- only injuries between them and bottom two
Brisbane- Tough year for Voss
Essendon - just don't have enough. Will Knights be under pump after convincing everyone the list was ok so he could get the job?
Fremantle- still crap after all these years
Melbourne - A looooong way away

Possible Coach sackings/quitting/not re-signed:
Knights: Promised it was all ok. Did he lie??
Terry Wallet: Last roll of the dice? A Cousins binge away from the end??
Harvey: Freo going nowhere fast.
Williams: If Port not in top 4 by half way mark he could be in trouble. Have a good draw for first half so should make top 4 by this point.
Roos: A Surprise but I could see him parting ways with Sydney and heading to coach a Richmond or Essendon.

Port Adelaide 870 BC :D

after sitting amongst the Power a couple of times last year with a friend, I think those same cavemen are still there!

The problem with the Power I think is while its chock full of talent, there is a high number of flashy, yet 'uncontested' type confidence players.
Guys like Pearce, Boak, Ebert, Motlops etc are everywhere when the sides winning, yet are nowhere to be seen during the tought scraps.
so we saw that Port often won comfortably, or got absolutely belted.

there was a reason Rodan was such a revelation for them, it was that he was the one at the bottom of the back getting the ball, whilst others hovered around waiting for the receive. I will be interesting to see if Carr gives them another hardnut, or whether his last couple of disappointing years mean hes not the player he was in 04. Port could easily finish 3rd in my view, or as low as 10th. An easier draw than last year should make top8 a non-negotiable.

I'll change this slightly now...

Brisbane into 10th, everyone else down 1

West Coast up into 12th

I want a flag, and I want it this year

Dont sprout the rebuilding crap, thats just something to fall back on if we dont do well.

We have a good squad of youth and old. There is no reason we cant be in the mix this year.

I wish we did have a culture of pushing for the premiership, not just learning.

well I am gonna fall asleep now, dream of a flag. Causeeee **** I am keen for this year.

Carn Adelaide.
Are you keen for a Crows flag because its the first time in years that the Eagles arnt expected to be in the mix?
