Re: spud_jjj's Round 16 Preview, Scores & In-Game Discussion

Lucky side, La Cras, Montagna, Selwood, Lewis, Skipper......No Ablett, Enright, PODS

overall ranking 154,000.

Montanga and Selwood aren't lucky but to have the others sure paid off this week!

He also had Kane Cornes, Stanton and Goodes who have all been really inconsistent all year!

Re: spud_jjj's Round 16 Preview, Scores & In-Game Discussion

All out for 2179, got to be happy with that I suppose

So many disappointments; Enright, Waters, Gaz, NDS, Pav, jPod & Brown-dog .

Only kidding, keep up the great work mate. :thumbsu:

No mate, I do all my own research, mostly with the help of www.tooserious.com.au although I do notice that there's some cross-over between what I do and what the guys at YSCC do.

There's only so much you can 'preview'

Re: spud_jjj's Round 16 Preview, Scores & In-Game Discussion

1,781 overall, getting better and better. First time in top 2,000 ever.

Hope I can surge to 1,500, then who knows what could happen from them.

Re: spud_jjj's Round 16 Preview, Scores & In-Game Discussion

Finally hit top 500 :) That's with the little bald prick murdering me.

Re: spud_jjj's Round 16 Preview, Scores & In-Game Discussion

2118 ranking stable in the 3000ths and won important league match.

Other than the little bald man, enright and simpson, most of my guys were ok but not as good as they have been in previous weeks. Here's hoping Franklin is back this week.

Okay, firstly, apologies for the lack of detail in last week's preview, was pretty rushed for time. To make up for it, this week's edition will be JAM-PACKED full of goodies...:D:thumbsu: but for now, onto the regulars:

CAPTAIN'S CORNER

This week, any Saints, Blues or Cats midfielder will be a pretty safe bet (umm, duh!), but seriously (couldn't find the SC scores for the Saints v Hawthorn game last year) *Scores do not include pre-season or finals performances.

wbAFLdal_gallery__470x325-420x0.jpg

1. Nick Dal Santo - since the start of 2005, has scored 158, 155, 67, 121 & 146 vs. the Hawks (Ave. 129)

The 26 year old has produced some exceptional performances against the Hawks over the years, and despite missing last week with back tightness, I'm more than prepared to label him your best choice for captain for Round 17.

StKilda_Judd_nose2_gallery__470x326.jpg

2. Chris Judd - since the start of 2008, has scored 142, 110 & 112 vs. the Eagles (Ave. 121)

The Blues' skipper loves playing his old side, as his scores will confirm. Will be looking to bounce back after his side's poor showing against Sydney last week.

harvey-story.jpg

3. Brent Harvey - since the start of 2005, has scored 169, 142, 97, 111 & 111 vs. the Bombers (Ave. 128)

THE BAD; The Kangas beat Richmond last week. THE GOOD; Boomer luurrves playing the Bombers, including an epic 169 the last time the two sides met, where he registered 33 touches, seven marks, six inside 50s and three goals. The only thing preventing me from putting him at #1, is that he plays for the Kangaroos, and he's playing the Bombers, who may finally bounce back this week.

CatAblett_gallery__470x311.jpg

4. Gary Ablett - since the start of 2006, has scored 102, 149, 99, 142 & 146 vs the Lions (Ave. 128)

I know he's been in a bit of a rut, averaging a mere 102 over the past five weeks, however, his record against the Lions can not be ignored. Other things going for him include; you can be sure the cats will want to atone for their loss against the Crows last week and oh yeah, and he averages 148 at Skilled this year . Could easily be at the top of this list.

525581-marc-murphy.jpg

5. Marc Murphy - since the start of 2008, has scored 135, 143 & 85 vs. the Eagles (Ave. 121)

Wow. I swear when this kid finishes his career, he'll be as highly regarded as your Abletts, Dal Santos and Judds when it comes to SuperCoach consistency. Since the start of 2008, the number one draft pick averages 107 SC points per game during the H&A season. In serious contention for the captain of my team this week.

BARTEL.jpg

6. Jimmy Bartel - since the start of 2006, has scored 122, 61, 139, 129, 142, 120 & 158 vs. the Lions (Ave. 124)

Another cat who likes playing the Lions, Gentleman Jim would be another excellent choice should you decide to place the 'C' next to his name. My only concern is his record at the Cats' hoe ground this year, which includes scores of 113, 101, 76, 77 & 79.

Rounding out my top ten nominees...

7. Lenny Hayes - since the start of 2005, has scored 126, 158 & 101 vs. the Hakws (Ave. 128)
8. Paul Chapman - since the start of 2006, has scored 117, 152, 95, 104, 105, 100, 104 & 154 vs. Lions (Ave. 116)
9. Bryce Gibbs* - since the start of 2008, has scored 192, 95 & 106 vs. the Eagles (Ave. 131)
10. Matthew Pavlich - since the start of 2005, has scored 126, 64, 92, 110, 82 & 141 vs. the Bulldogs (Ave. 103)

and now for the Smokies...

Got an easy league-win coming up? Or just feeling the urge to roll the dice? Why not select a captain from our smokie section:

Kade Simpson - since the start of 2007, has scored 119, 150, 121 & 82 vs. the Eagles (Ave. 118)
Heath Scotland - since the start of 2005, has scored 101, 151, 89, 114 & 102 vs. the Eagles (Ave. 112)
Nick Riewoldt - since the start of 2005, has scored 139, 122, 95, 162 & 88 vs. the Hawks (Ave. 121)

OPPORTUNITY SHOP

Defenders

Corey Enright - $423,700 (B/E 176)
After a couple of horror weeks where he only managed to squeeze out 45 & 38, now could be the time to jump on the Cats's running back. With a high breakeven however, you could well afford to wait another week, as we could see his price frop below $400k which it hasn't done since prior to 2005.

571596-paul-duffield.jpg

Paul Duffield - $455,000 (B/E 67)
Keeps popping up in the 'Op Shop' section, but also keeps pumping out 90s and 100s for fun. Freo have a pretty decent run home, so you could do a heck of a lot worse than bring in the Duff-Man to strengthen your forward line. If I had the trades, I'd definintely do Waters > Duff this week.

Sam Gilbert - $448,500 (B/E 112)
Similar to Duffield, this guy keeps on popping up in this part of the Preview. It must be said however, I don't think any other team has a better run home than St Kilda; Essendon (99), Port Adelaide (94), North Melbourne (122), Richmond (122) & Adelaide (118). What are those numbers in brackets you ask? Well, those are the scores that Sammy G registered this year, when STK played those five sides. Pretty tempting ey?

Midfielders

Gary Ablett - $547,600 (B/E 180)
Wow. It feels strange seeing GAJ's name in this part of the Preview, but, the stats don't lie when it comes to Gaz's drop in SC form. A staggering $196,600 cheaper than his opening price, the 2nd biggest drop of any midfielder this season (after Neon).

Jobe Watson - $514,000 (B/E 114)
I feel sorry for this bloke; the only good player in a pretty average team. Just put in his 2nd lowest score for the year against the Eagles, but he seems like the kind of player who won't put too many sub-par games together, and I'm tipping him to get back amongst the hundreds this week. 9/16 scores over 105, and only four games where he's registered less than 85.

Jimmy Bartel - $511,200 (B/E 87)
Nothing more can be said about this man really. Has given us the odd 70 this season, but come'on, the guy averages 110 points per game since the start of 2005, and is at his second lowest price for the year. Nothing wrong with having Bartel in your midfield.

Matthew Priddis - $508,100 (B/E 99)
Told you all to jump on this guy a couple of weeks ago :) and he was more expensive then!! Plays in an average team, but won't let you down. Averaging 108.69, and amazingly 10 of his 16 scores this year have been higher than that; also he has failed to reach 83+ just twice. Do yourself a favour and jump aboard the Paddle Pop Lion Train!!

Rucks

No one that hasn't already been mentioned. Anyone under the $450k mark (Jamar & Ryder) should be the ones to watch out for.

Forwards

Nick Riewoldt - $462,800 (B/E 157)
Wait another week, even if he scores 100, he'll still drop to around the $435k mark. Still, if I had've told you you could get Saint Nick for $460,000 at the start of the year, you would've told me to make like a shepherd and get the flock outta here.

Dale Thomas - $449,500 (B/E 103)
Featured in the Op Shop last week, but still an affordable, F7 option who's good for 80-90 each week. Cast aside your dislike and really think what's best for your SC team.

Adam Goodes - $447,200 (B/E -20)
Could be the last week the dual Brownlow medalist is considered 'undervalue'. If he hits his average, he'll be worth $495,000 this time next week. Offers great MPP flexibility, which could come in handy in a few weeks time. If I had an extra trade up my sleeve, I definintely be going Fyfe > Goodes this week.

NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK

Kids who have played two games, and are set to play their third this week:

SMITH-Ashley_246_a.jpg

Ashley Smith (DEF, West Coast), Ave. 83 - Forty possessions from his first two games.

3178903106.jpg

Trent Dennis-Lane (FORW, Sydney), Ave 41 - Averaging five kicks, four handballs, five kicks & one goal across his two AFL games.

...And still no sign of Relton Roberts, who was last seen scoffing a salad sandwich in the MCG change rooms at half-time :)

TALKING POINTS

1. Jason Akermanis' contract termination

Well, I don't think we saw this coming. Would love to know which of Aker's indescressions Rocket has kept '...hidden from the public.' Thought Smorgon had some very strong words at both the Presser and on 3AW last night. Now look for Aker to go boonanas on the media circut for the next fortnight. What's your take on it? Are these the three wise men?:

213509.jpg

2. Ablett perma-captain again?

Do you have the minerals to go back to little Gaz after a horrid month of SC form? Playing the Lions, who are the out-of-form team of the competition along with Essendon, down at the Cattery. Sure looks juicy...

3. Buddy and Nicky Dal returning

Thank God!! Don't think I could bare not having them for two weeks in a row! I mean Lewis Stevenson and Nathan Fyfe are great fill-ins, but still a few years off the class of NDS and Buddy :)

VIDEO OF THE WEEK

Relton went home, couldn't hack life in the AFL.

Nice work as per usual, it was spudlicious

Re: spud_jjj's Round 17 Preview, Scores & In-Game Discussion (WILL UPDATE AS TEAMS ARE ANNOUNCED_

Looks like i have a tough pick between Dal Santo, Swan, Ablett and Chappy this week.

I know my opponent had Chapman last week so i might choose him to try and cancel the captain out knowing i have the far better team - We have about 6-7 different players but mine average over 100 more per week combined.

Re: spud_jjj's Round 17 Preview, Scores & In-Game Discussion (WILL UPDATE AS TEAMS ARE ANNOUNCED_

There is talk on the main board that Gibbs will be dropped this week, is that why there is an asterix next to his name Spud?

This would be terrible news for me because I have in both my teams (DT/SC)

Yeah Sledge, I heard Gibbsie might not play this week, hence the '*'.

On a brighter note, here's some news we all pretty much knew anyway, but always nice to get some confirmation:

http://www.sen.com.au/display-afl/Franklin-set-to-return/12507

Franklin sat out last week's 75-point drubbing of the Brisbane Lions after rolling an ankle at training during the week.

But after training strongly during a short session at Waverley Park on Thursday, the Hawks are expected to name him in the team to tackle the Saints.

"He trained well on Tuesday and we've been really pleased with his progress," coach Alastair Clarkson said.

"He was pretty close last Friday to be fair but we just didn't want to take a risk and get him right for the last six weeks of the season."

I'm going all out and going Chapman with the C.

It's all or nothing now.
