No...not a new baseball comp - the Big Bash League (seems those fried chicken guys have been given the flick) is now official:

Ugh. Perth Scorchers. If this was April 1st, I'd have thought it a joke. The WACA obviously do - they're already using puns in their own media releases. At least orange is reasonably close to gold/yellow, so not too much of a departure there.

You can follow the league on Twitter for what it's worth, and they already have 1800 followers. How?

Because we had a good system which played off the old domestic rivalries and allowed for a few guest players and what not

And they've turfed all that for a bunch of shit coloured sides with shit names.

The A-League has already shown that you cant just place sides in a city and then expect them to build some incredible following overnight, teams take years, decades, to build up fan support. Something the states already had.

Pretty much spot on I reckon. Im a huge fan of going down to AO to watch the redbacks play T20, but I am not keen AT ALL on seeing our new team. Its ridiculous. I am not going to go and support this crocked up comp.
