With the U-18 Champs started this is when you get a look at players that you might like your Club to Draft and I thought I put some up here I think the Pies should look at.

I am looking for Speed and KPP Players

Sam Gordon
March 31, 1993, 197cm, 87kg (Geelong Falcons)
He's a big strong unit who will play full forward. He attacks the ball really well and is a beautiful kick.

Does sound like a Type of Forward we could Draft and could be a Nice Back-Up

Taylor Adams
September 20, 1993, 181cm, 80kg (Geelong Falcons)
Taylor is a real hard nut in the midfield. He's got good vision and good hands and he's fantastic in close around the stoppages.

People have said Bucks is a Massive Fan

Brodie Grundy
April 15, 1994, 200cm, 92kg (Sturt)
He's an AIS-AFL Scholarship holder this year, he has a basketball background and has only played the game for the last 18 months. The ruckman has got huge potential if he continues to develop at the rate he has over the last 18 months.

Could be a Leigh Brown Type

Ben Brown
November 20, 1992, 198cm, 90kg (Glenorchy)
He's a forward who is coming back from a knee reconstruction. He's 19-years-old and we decided to give him another run because of his height and ability.

Lotta Hype last year around Draft Time about B Brown but not drafted because of Stuffed Knee

Louis Egger
June 5, 1993, 184cm, 74kg (Federal)
He's a left-foot, Indigenous player who is hard at the footy. He's good through traffic and has great work ethic and is an all-round good bloke with good athletic skills.

Sound the Type that Hine might Pick

Brodie Grundy is a ripper. I'd say he is an out and out ruckman - not a Leigh Brown type and someone you get with the expectation of him becoming a no.1 ruckman. The SA clubs will really want him. Possibly the best ruckman at the u18 champs, even over Longer, Bolger. Really look forward to those matchups. Won the hitouts over Witts from memory in the end, which is incredible for a 200cm underage player.
Has developed over the last 2 years beyond belief. Really showing himself as a potential rival to Whitfield and O'Meara, threatening to push into that top 2 if he keeps his improvement up.

Egger being probably the best of the NT kids eligable this year will be zoned and won't be available to us.

Taylor Adams looks likely to go somewhere in the 1st round. Maybe 15-25 range.

Gordon could go 2nd round or thereabouts. Likely to be available with our 1st pick. Not sure if need another KPP. Thomas Gordon is much the same + as a forward James Stewart should be F/S selection next year as a forward and maybe even Jackson Starcevich if he finishes the champs strongly.

Ben Brown was very keen on last year. Want to see more.

So the SA Clubs can Bid for him with GWS?

Fair Call but I still would not hurt Picking him

I was talking about you(and Others) when I said he had Hype around Draft Time.

Who do you like for the Pies at the moment?

SA clubs can trade for him certainly. Born in first 4 months of '94. And I'd say they will. Fantastic talent and will get allot in return for him. After O'Meara next biggest possible trade GWS can make for an opposition asset.

Adams could be a possibility. I think if he is available then we might take him, but if not no sleep will be lost. The talents from 15-50 are pretty even really. There will be other talents in that range we will also like. I wouldn't trade to upgrade into a higher pick. It won't make a great deal of difference and guarantees nothing.

I'm really keen to just go for best availables with no particular type limitations in mind. Last year was super keen to add forwards, because our depth was looking poor. This year we really don't have those same holes on our list and should really go after players with the potential to eventually become best 22 players at some stage over the next 2-3 years to continue building our core group.
I wouldn't go KPP or ruck because we have Ceglar and will get Witts as our young rucks. Then for KPPs not super keen on the KPPs from this years class. Don't see any potential improvements on Dawes/Cloke/Reid/Brown/Tarrant. We still have Keeffe, Hartley from next year, Gordon who should be kept and possibly Starcevich if we decide to take him. With Stewart from 2012 through F/S I think we are in a really strong position KPP wise. That group of KPPs is better than anything we will get in this years draft at this stage anyway.

With a need for a backup for Dawes and Cloke, wonder if they will consider Jackson Coleman. The Old Haileybury forward is playing as an over ager for Sandringham Dragons this year, and has been listed with the Bushrangers as a rookie last season. Not sure if he will nominate, but may be a 195cm+ forward who could be available at our picks. Son of former Swan Glenn Coleman.

I agree we need some Back-Up for Dawes and Cloke as All really have are 2 Skinny Kids in Reilly and Ceglar who has played as those players in VFL

Some bloke who plays for macloed kicked 7 on the weekend has been asked down to collingwood (use to be at stkilda) Hopefully is good 22 years old already. if he becomes a star stkilda will be kicking themselves

Brett Eddy kicked 8 of his teams 13 goals in A grade Ammos on the weekend.

As KPFs we will probably add either Starcevich as F/S or possibly look to Eddy from our VFL side and give him a shot as an option.

Stewart will probably come in 2012 as a F/S KPF also.

So future depth looks good.

For more immediate depth Tarrant can go forward if necessary and if say N.Brown is not available then Keeffe can easily step in down back. So I don't think there are any major issues.

KPP + Ruck stocks over the 2 years will be sufficiently bolstered.

You make a Good case why a KPF might not be the number 1 Target.

Though Startevitch I would not call a Top Class Prospect. Good Looking Prospect and Eddy has been good at VFL but IF we do Draft/Rookie Him could he play AFL well?

Stewart is Sounding like 1 of the Top KPP Prospects for the 2012 Draft at the Moment and that does give me hope with him but to me he sounds like more like a Riewlodt type more than a Cloke or Dawes Type.

Should not stop us Drafting KPP if they are there in this years Draft

Knight - grundy got more hit outs than witts due mainly to witts sharing the ruck duties with moller. Grundy basically rucked one out against 2. I think from memory witts/moller combo had 35+ hitouts to grundy's 17-20. That said i've heard he's a good prospect.

Collingwood were interested in cathal corr back when he was 18 and originally drafted/rookied. It's funny how they keep an eye on blokes they've liked in years past. Simon Buckley for instance, we kept following stubbs even when he was hawthorn listed for example

I can't see anything wrong with that as you don't know if they go to the other club you could Trade or Re-Draft them and Players who don't make it might come on when they get older

Sorry if I went a little overboard re Grundy. But you are correct. Moller from NSW is a Freo allinged ruckman who they can add in 2012 also played significant ruck minutes and played in there probably a little under 50%.

Grundy I'd say still broke fairly even in the ruck with Witts which is impressive none the less for a 2012 kid. Has come on incredibly well and looks a likely top 5 prospect for 2012 it's fair to say with the way he is developing. Could be a great pickup for a club if they take him as a 17 year old.

Coming into the draft at probably 25/26, there aren't any KPPs available of quality. The draft really has a stong 10 or 15 and then after that it's just up to good scouting. But I certainly wouldn't be aiming for a KPP and instead an enthusiastic Alex Fasolo type who can maybe play midfield and do a couple of other things.

Starcevich could be a handy one to have developing if we decide to take him. He isn't nearly as bad as you think and presents strongly at FF.

Eddy I really like as a backup KPF if we can draft him. I think he could hold his own after a full preseason and possibly stand in to a Jack Anthony or equivilent standard which is more than sufficient. Not your physical presence like a Cloke or Dawes, but a decent KPF who is familiar with our structures and could probably sneak in maybe 2 goals a game without much difficulty. For what you are suggesting he would be the ideal target.

But overall I wouldn't put a huge focus into collecting KPPs, it's more about if you want a KPF, to get a quality one which you as history suggests can only really get with those higher 1st round picks in better drafts.

Well if there is None that Hine and Pies Rate than it would be a Waste of Time Picking and Hoping that a KPF could make it. Yes the better ones are Normally Top 10 Guys and I doubt we would Trade into the Top 10 this Draft.

Eddy as a 3rd Tall Looks the Good but could he play AFL Level Footy. Good Height at 194cm.

Startevitch could still become a Player but at this early Stage I see him being a Father Son with no Higher then our 3rd Round Selection but he could Come on

I've seen him play with his club a few times in the Ammos He would fit the bill ability wise as a third tall. What he has over Jack Anthony is his hands. His strength is that he reads the ball beautifully in the air and makes the most of his opportunities. He is a reliable kick for goal- He loves laying a tackle, but I just haven't seen enough of him to know what his fitness is like.
