So he didn't want to play for Claremont anymore, can't blame the lad :p

Seriously though thanks for that, hadn't seen that before. Hard to know what to make of it, on one hand it should be off-putting for eastern state clubs but unfortunately a lack of commitment is a huge concern.

I'm hoping 1st rookie draft pick.

Its interesting that Kevin Sheehan doesnt have Fraser Mcinness in his top 30. On the AFL sit they also didnt talk about him or Devon Smith on the pre draft talk. Perhaps its just everyone on Bigfooty talking Mcinness up. he could be a realistic chance to get with our third pick at 29. Could be interesting to get Kersten with 16 then a mid at 20 (in the video they had Kavanagh sliding to a pick in the early 20's he would be good), then Mciness with pick 29. That would be a big win for us i think

There was an interview with Manson tonight on the abc news if anyone wants to track it down.

Doesn't speak English so good, and may be a reason he didn't like it in Perth.

TBH for that reason alone he should love it here.

He'd fit in with the literacy skills of a lot of Perthites.

But people under estimate the effect that has.

I suspect one of the reasons he is playing good footy is that there are a lot of St Johns boys at Warratahs, who recruit from this area. So there would be quite a few guys there he would be able to make friends with, and speak to.

He said he would prefer Perth and to play for the Eagles.

Anyone who has spent any time at all in Bililluna, Balgo or Mulan will know what an uphill challenge this kid faces at ANY AFL club.

I'm not saying that he won't make it, as I sincerely hope that he does because it would be a massive boost for these communities, but geez he has a hell of a battle ahead of him.

Good luck to him, and I won't be fazed at all if we pull the trigger. However, I will be equally unsurprised if he just can't adapt to a professional football culture.

The Herald Sun is reporting that Brad Dick has turned down a rookie list spot from Collingwood and intends to return home to WA citing home sickness. With WC only holding two ND picks we would appear to be in the box seat to potentially take him with our last pick, or with our first pick in the rookie draft. Definitely think he is worth the risk

COLLINGWOOD'S Brad Dick is likely to join Fremantle as a rookie, with the former Magpies forward meeting Ross Lyon and Dockers officials as soon as this morning.
Dick had been delisted by Collingwood at season's end, with the expectation that the club would try to select him in the rookie draft if he was still available. But Dick said yesterday he wanted to return to Perth and would seek an opportunity to play there.

Why isn't Bootsma available as a father-son pick? I thought the eligibility for F/S was 150 games by the old man? The article above says Brad played 162 games for South, and we've tried to claim him as a F/S pick, but no dice. Sounds like typical AFL bullshit to me.

^ this.... i would be absolutely filthy if we wasted pick 29 on him... every year we see a super talented player from that region not adapt and leave for home mid season.... manson should be our last pick if at all

I was under the impression that only games played for South Freo, East Freo etc prior to Fremantle entering the AFL counted. In Brad's case, he wouldn't have played many games (if any) for South Freo before Fremantle entered the AFL.
