2011 Fixture

Pretty happy with our draw. Think we should do quite well. The teams we play twice aren't all that scary compared with the last couple of years. Having said that with team improvements it could always turn out to be nasty.

Couple of things i will whinge about though:
- Every year we play in Geelong at a stadium that is not big enough to accommodate the crowd. I pay 150 bucks for a membership for 6 games and yet have no choice but to pay full price for a game i have already paid for once if i want to get in.
- If you exclude the FTA games when we play down here in melbourne we only have 6 FTA games despite not having the option to go down the road to the game.
- The ridiculous way that our Melbourne games are always grouped. Surely its not too hard to spread six games out across 24 rounds? To go from round 1 till 10 without a game down here then towards seasons end copping back to back games in melbourne, StKilda at home then Geelong at skilled. Really? 3 out of 4 rounds in Melbourne?

I think it's a great draw, and I'm stoked about the Friday night game. The fact that we're playing Geelong at the SCG as well should give us a great advantage over them and we could plausibly go through the first 10 rounds with only a loss, maybe two.

That is getting a bit ahead of yourself.

I am personally worried about our first game as it was just plain embarrassing watching the Swans get smashed by the Demons at the MCG earlier this year.

Embarassing it was. And it shouldn't have happened. Our kids have another year of expierience under their belts, losses to inferior sides should not happen in 2011.

Arent we playing Carlton?

if you read stats comment carefully you'll notice...it can mean either he thought we play the cats or "another" bonus of the fixture is that

Ummm... and those younger guys at Melbourne???

We're in for a smashing.

You'd think they were Collingwood the way some of our supporters go on about that result. They were awesome that day but there's a reason we finished 5th and they didn't play finals, because we're better.

We'll see if this is still the case next season.

Great draw for us. If we have our best 21/2 on the park (or close to it) I am very confident we'll take care of Melbourne.

Very good draw for us. Can really setup our season in those first 10 games.
Our draw is the easiest in the competition, because we don't have to play the Swans and everyone else does. Some of them even have to play the Swans twice

They're not even top 8 material yet. Let's not give them more credit than they deserve. Yes, they're no longer wooden spoon contenders but they are no more than a middle of the pack team. If we play to the best of our ability (which we definitely did not this year) we will win.

Yeah, people wringing their hands need to get serious. The sun shone out of their arses that day and Hanners and maybe two others were the only notable players from our side. Probably won't be down 2 kpd and a kpf this time either. There's a reason they lost multiple times to teams Sydney belted.

Can't remember where I saw the article, but it was centred around Geelong having a rough draw because they play 4 teams coming off a bye. Typically, it wasn't until half way through the article that they mentioned that Sydney also play 4 teams coming off a bye.

I wasn't too worried about that as you could argue that coming off a period of good form can sometimes be better than coming from a rest. Interesting to hear people's thoughts. The teams we play immediately after their bye are:

Richmond
Collingwood
Fremantle
Geelong
