Re: Round 2 trades

Still can't believe anyone had J Brown, the blokes 30 and pretty much never gets through a season uninjured. Great player, bad for supercoach.

Soft tissue maybe, but a collision injury with a knee to the head? I wouldn't mind a crystal ball that can predict that.

2007: 22 Games
2008: 21 Games
2009: 22 Games
2010: 16 Games

How can you question the durability of a bloke who has only missed 7 out of 88 games.

He started 2010 with 130, 171 and 141, and people were trading out half their forward line to get him. He then picked up an injury, but finished the year with 143 and 161.

Was on the way to a ton without a pre-season on Saturday night. I would hazard a guess to say you haven't had any solid SC results in the past.

Re: Round 2 trades

Brilliant with hindsight. Never mind the fact that last year was Brown's first injury cruelled year since 2006 and that's he's probably in the top three to five SC forwards when he's fit. If he didn't have his face smashed in with McPharlin's knee he would've scored at least 100 (he scored 60-odd scaled down because he wasn't on the field when the game was in the balance, and you could bet on at least two more goals including the one from the mark he had just taken) and everyone would be hopping on board.

Missed this from Dlanod. Very good comment.

Re: Round 2 trades

Any ideas who I should trade Lecras for? I'm leaning towards Dawes or Fyfe....

I'm going to downgrade for a cashcow (Tapscott), it depends which way you want to go.

If you have bench cover a good option might be to wait out this week and bring in Dangerfield in rnd 3 or 4.

Dawes could be flukey, in some games Cloke could see more of the footy and it depends on defensive matchups on the two.

And I might be wrong but I can't see Fyfe being a consistent scorer.

Re: Round 2 trades

Already got to make up points after (C) beside Selwood last week, and not entirely happen with my initial side (1st time SC), so rolled the dice :

Out : Selwood, In : G.Ablett
Out : S.Thompson, In : Heppell

Figure that Selwood will miss this week and Ablett only has 1 bye left, so should be a 200+ point catchup pretty quick. Can get Selwood again after price drop.

Really wanted Heppell for MPP cover/cash cow/possible keeper, so either was Thompson or Rockliff out, went Thompson with his bye. With all these byes the MPP's will be very useful to pick which bench players to play.

That gives me $320,000 + Rockliff + cow$ to upgrade to any 2 midfield premiums after round 6 byes, one will be MPP MID/FWD.

I plan to burn a few trades early to get the cash cows right, good idea? ie, possibly S.McKernan, R.Tarrant, GC players before round 4! Got all the high scoring other ones I hope.

Re: Round 2 trades

Gotta trade out big Browny this week. Money no object.

Current fwd line is Roo, Browny, Pav, Buddy, Krakouer, Tapscott, Darling (Petrie, Matera, C Richardson)

Thinking Brown -> ROK

Could go Cyril, but already have Buddy and nervous about two Hawks up front. Also thinking Fyfe, but seems a bit flaky to me. Chappy's paper hammies worry me. I'm liking Prestia, but unlikely to be a points match for Browny. Any other suggestions?

Trying to win my league, not the overall.

Thoughts?

Re: Round 2 trades

Went Brown -> Pav in the end.

Still don't have Krak. Watch him fail this week and join Yarran in the "oops!" stakes.

Only mean it as banter but JB:

  • past premium SC selection age (28+)
  • in a really crappy team which wont win much (bottom 3). This really impacts scoring as higher points are attributed to match winning scores
  • is completely courageous which isnt that good a thing from longevity point of view. This is related to the fact that ..yes, aside from last years 16 games, he has played injured quite a few times impacting his scores
  • Midfield supply comprises two old men slwoing down and not much else. a huge thing for a fwd...good supply!
Please dont analyse any of my players because i havent gone so deep into them as you and the SCE have done.

From SCE perspective, choosing JB gets you 5/10.

Having said that i picked Selwood (strong team/young means i havent got it completely wrong)...and Sylvia...cant really back that choice up at all as dont really like him...

He fell over his fishing kit - lower leg was damaged on a hook, line and sinker.

Re: Round 2 - Trades

Jonathan Brown will be a late inclusion to the Brisbane Lions team this week. Everybody who is yet to trade him should consider keeping him. :thumbsu:

That's what you need to worry about.

Sure, 'older' players can still be elite, but the risk increases with each season. 2007-2009 was a purple patch and he was among the AFL's best, but you'd think half of this forum thinks he can go on forever at the same rate.

Re: Round 2 trades

Fisher and Jolly for Lower and Cox.

Don't really understand why Fisher was in my team in the first place, and Jolly seems to be having a slow start again.

I'm always careful with my trades and have gotten stuck with one or two left at the end of the season, so I don't mind using two now.

No Cox in your team? Goodes? Harvey? ROK? Enright?

Didnt read it in the media lol. It's my own opinion.

1) Where do you think your team will finish?
2) Where do you rate your midfield unit out of 17?

PS
I'm located in London and just watch the matches on ESPN. Don't see too many media articles.

Re: Round 2 trades

Cox is different as there is no abundance of choice. 3 rucks to choose from.

Risk is worth it.

I personally left alone Goodes, Harvey and R O'keefe. Would admit O'keefe was considered while the other two were ruled out.

Also, take into account that JB has been injured a lot but still played because he is couragous/mad. In thinking back over his career, he would be considered slightly injury prone.

I wouldnt say that about the others mentioned.

Re: Round 2 - Trades

Dammit!

Late change - Lonergan out left me one backman short. Traded out Easton Wood for Lower - was thinking of doing this next week anyway so just means i have to do it one week earlier.

Still annoyed that i'm one trade down after just one round, but I guess it serves me right for picking Lonergan over a rookie in the first place. Had I made that move in the first place I'd have scored 30 points last week... wouldn't have mattered though because I lost by about 300 points anyway, lol.
