Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

Hi guys, need some advice:
is bringing Darling in for Gamble a worthwhile trade? I'll make $$ but wonder whether it's a burnt trade. I have tapscott already - Darling is the best choice at the price. Any thoughts appreciated, cheers.

Depends what you want?

Gamble should play a lot of games this year. Only problem is, he is not much of a super coach scorer. Dont think he has ever broken the 100 barrier in any career game.

With Darling, he should also play a lot of games and be a perfect cash cow. With the money you are saving on downgrading Gamble to Darling, and the money Darling is potentially going to make you, a 'premium' is a lot more achievabe.

Also, to the guys who are talking about the whole Curnow versus Liberatore dilema.

Both of them are playing well, it is only when they begin to play poorly that they should be looked at to be dropped. Think Curnow actually has the better job security. Is a more well rounded player than Mclean and is that little bit older than Liberatore who some suggest may miss this week with general soreness (just a rumor, no need to go into over drive).

Curnow is also a nominated rookie, therefore he could potentially play 22 games if his form warrants selection (at this stage it looks mighty good).

Hope this helps, before any one asks, I have both Curnow and Liberatore on my midfield bench.

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

I'm wondering which high-priced rookie to dump for Curnow, mainly to give me money to upgrade a mid to a premium before their prices go up.

At the moment it is between Krakouer (COL) and Gaff (WCE) for Curnow, any thoughts?

Think this is a no brainer really.

Collingwood traded for Krakouer to be in their best 22, so will play a lot of games, Gaff, many WCE supporters suggest will play predominantly WAFL matches with some AFL games in spurts.

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

Right ok my gut feel is to go Curnow over Libba for atley so im just going to stick with it. spewing i missed out on both of them but did get tapscott and touch wood havent had any other issues apart from rioli at this stage.

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

Been umming and arghing over this all week but riding shotgun here and trading Travis Boak OUT for Jude Bolton IN

Bolton in the past 5 years has averaged 95+ with his past two seasons averaging 101.2 and 102. Whilst he has missed 2 games in 6 years, and also averages close to 90 + against every team bar Geelong and North Melbourne.

Think he is set on greatness this year. Here's hoping he doesnt pull a hammy now. Touchwood.

Im thinking a similar sort of thing, think ill go
boak and rockliffe out (sucked in by preseason AGAIN)
Swan(why didn't i have him from the start:rolleyes:) and libba in
i think its worthwile, but i am tossing up wether or not i should be giving boak the boot, played alright agaist the pies and had a terrible start against the coasters but still got 90 odd( i think)
Do people rekon he can get 110 per week or should i jump off now and do the above trade?

I thought he could seriously step it up another notch, guess I was wrong.

He pulled all his big scores out against bottom 8 teams last year and continually bombed out against the top 8 teams. So think that the switch is on.

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

sorry, i'll post again.. hoping to get some help! :)

I want to loose Jolly and get Cox.. ($39,800 required)..
I have $18,100 in the bank..

next decision is.. do i get one of Libba or Curnow in for Conca to raise the cash.. anticipating that this is a good cash cows invetment..

OR is it better to miss out on one of those and 'fix' my A.Everitt problem, and trade him out for suckling before he begins his downward spiral??

(because i already have some good cows in: Tapscott, Mckernan, Peterson, Heppell, Lower, Dugian, Darling.. but is that enough?)

To be honest, he is a perenially slow starter. Stick with him, he will come good. If you are that interested in getting a top notch ruckmen, I think that Robbie Warnock will become a dead set gun of this competition.

Already has scores of 100 & 117, so he should improve on his price also.

I do think that you should try and fix your Everitt dillema, he is not a supercoach player.

If I do a sideways trade, would Everitt -> Suban be a good move?

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

If I do a sideways trade, would Everitt -> Suban be a good move?

There are far to many 'mediocre' options in the back half, guys that are simply not good enough or do not have consistently high outputs.

In saying that, some do represent fantastic value.

Do you have any spare cash in the bank? Could you stretch it out to get one of Jed Adcock or Rick Ladson?

If you were going for a quick cash grab then sure go for Suban, just not sure he can continue and have a higher price rise than say an Adcock or Ladson, you could go down the order and look at Robbie Tarrant, Jeremy Laidler or Matt Suckling, then obviously further down the list you have the rookie guys like McKernan, Heppell etc.

It is up to you how you want to play it.

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

So who do I start out of Lower, Duigan or D. Stanley?
Lower was subbed last week, Duigan is playing Collingwood and I know nothing about Stanley..

Nearly the same boat as you dude.

I would probably start Duigan if I were you.

Collingwoods inaccuracy, Duigan as a defender, all adds up to at least a handy night in the mid 50's (at least).

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

Trade O'Brien to Dawes or sideways Richardson/O'Brien to Tapscott?

Forward line is a bit weak now with Rioli out.

Currently have Riewoldt, Franklin, Yarran, Krakour, O'Brien, Matera and Knights starting so only the two premiums. Think it might be a bit thin and all of those 5 cheap players could have a quite one. Can't see Dawes spudding it up...

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

Depends how much risk you wanna go with.

Everybody is jumping on Dawes but a full forward can go backwards very quickly. Everything has been rosy at Collingwood so far with them winning both games comprehensively. I personally wont be going anywhere near Dawes.

Tapscott is a different matter altogether. Midfield type player who will balloon in price the next few weeks.

Also, you'd be bringing in Dawes as a keeper. You'd be bringing in Tapscott as a cash cow.

My advice is to load up on as many cows as you can now. Because you can trade them to guns later in the season when you know who the guns are. :thumbsu:

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

About to fix the Tapscott, Curnow and Boak issues and have a few $100,00 spare to fix my backline for next week.

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

Lower was subbed last week, Duigan is playing Collingwood and I know nothing about Stanley..

I have exactly the same back rookie to choose from and am very happy and confident in picking Lower.
Got subbed off after a knock last week, scored a nice 100 in the first week and is playing the weakest team of the 3

Lower for sure!

I'd probably get rid of conca and everitt 1st.
I heard them talking on the radio about conca. He's playing lock down roles and he is going to keep doing them. So there is no growth for you there.

yeah I agree. I am in the same boat with Everitt.

Just wondering if its worth me getting Pendles.

Have Swan, Judd, Cross & Foley, Heppell, Harris (Swallow. Bewick, Prestia) $173K

Have Everitt down back with (Goddard.Lids,Gibbs, Grimes, Lower, Duigan, Otten (Stanley, Buckley)
Was thinking either of the following:

A) Everitt->McKernan
Foley-> Pendles (leaves me $200K+)
B) Everitt-> Suckling
Foley-> Pendles (leaves me $91K)
C) Everitt -> Enright (leaves me $20K)
D) Everitt -> McKernan, Bewick-> Curnow or Libba (put Heppell down back and Curnow/Libba in mids (leaves approx. $350K)

Really want Pendles before his price rise but torn between letting Foley go.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

Seems like a wasted trade, even though I'd prefer to have Darling. Gamble should still get some game time and you'd expect the Saints to get better overall.

Not sure how on the one hand you can say the Gamble to Darling is a wasted trade, and then on the other hand propose something similar with Krakoer to Curnow for yourself?? Confused...

I personally would do Gamble to Darling, and do Gaff to Curnow.

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

Going Everitt -> McKernan next week.

Everitt will lose money but McKernan will be the same price so I dont really care.

But this way it allowed me to get Curnow, Liberatore AND McKernan into my team along with the original good cows I picked; Darling, Tapscott, Lower, Heppell, Swallow etc.

Gives me a good base. :thumbsu:

It's pretty obvious that out of all those options everitt>enright is going to give you the biggest points gain.

I have don't have an issue with having 2 players from the same team in the same position. But preferably one of them needs to be MPP.

I actually have 3 cats in my forward 1/2
SJ, Varcoe, Duncan. The only way I won't be punished is because I can MPP Duncan with Goodes.

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

i'm going to bail on Atley... big question however... curnow or libba!

job security is all i'm looking for... anyone shed some light?

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

Hmm... tempted to go Jolly > Warnock/McEvoy

Whatta you think? I hate pulling the trigger early.
I would only upgrade a ruck to cox or sandilands....otherwise your seriously risking using at least another trade to get back up to them anyway.
