Re: Round 4 Trades

So Sandilands, do we trust Harvey, or make sure we have an emergency in the rucks this week just in case? I have Petrie on the ruck bench while Prestia is my only mid rookie on the bench that is active this week. Hmmmm.
Will be very tempted to have Petrie highlighted.

I am currently 400ish overall and have Murphy Higgins and Ward from dogs and Goddard ad Riewoldt from saints. Murphy and Goddard are backline my 3 bench players are Lower Buckley and Stanley do you think i should trade out Murphy. Higgins and Ward are in the guts i traded Higgins for Scott thompson and bought on Dave Swallow for ward. Riewoldt goes to the bench and Rioli back on. WHat do you think for backline
Higgins to Scott Thompson is most unorthodox...
Murphy is probably not a genuine keeper, so a downgrade to one of the Adelaide rookies might be the go.

Buckley to Curnow?

I dont see buckley getting that 3rd game anytime soon
Yepo, he will be in and out all year.
Curnow will keep rising if he keeps putting out 100s, but he has already gone up $100k...

Hey guys i need some help. should i make these trades? i only have $11,500 in the bank. I want to trade these 2 guys out because they are my most underperformed players. Or are there better players to swap them too?

S. Johnson ($426,700) ----> Yarran ($322,800)
A. Otten ($185,100) --------> Suckling (283,500)

fwd line is franklin, goodes, sylvia, N riewoldt, S. johnson, tapscott, krakoeur (darling, matera, calinan)

back line is gibbs, deledio, goddard, heppell, duigan, fisher, otten (smith, toy, coad)

Thanks for all your help. Good luck this week guys!
I would say no & no.
1. SJ is a keeper, Yarran is still very speculative.
2. Otten will only get back IMHO and it is very early to think that Suckling will become a keeper.

Or Knights to Rioli

I have 305K just sitting there.

Must be tempting to use it, but Knights still has a lot of upside and is still getting back to full match fitness/practice.
Rioli is a gun though. Any other forwards you can offload?

Re: Round 4 Trades

I'd do it. I don't buy into the 'no sideways trades' unofficial rule. A lot of my trades last year were based 50% on stats, 50% on gut feeling. If it feels right, do it. Keep in mind though, you'll need to sub/trade Jimmy out during SC finals.

Why though? You might make an extra 20-30 points for a few games, then chances are montagna will improve and bartel will come down a little, then you're basically looking at what it is - a wasted of trade. Save the luxury trades like that for the business end of the season, not for three rounds in, that's my thinking (and the thinking of most of the "conservative" types here I'm guessing)

I done the curnow to buckley, 200k in the bank and I think I may just avoid the temptation and save my 'big move' for round 7

Re: Round 4 Trades

B: Goddard; Gibbs; Deledio; Grimes; Duigan; Bruce; Stanley (Lower; Toy; Batchellor).

Problem #1: Cameron Bruce; a speculative pick and the filler of the last spot available in my original team.

Usually I'm against trading players picked as premiums this early in the year for any reason other than injury. This has cost me in the past (Kurt Tippett says what?). After the first few rounds, however, I'm not sure that he'll provide the ~100 points per game that he was picked for. His role seems to be more defensive and it's hard to definitely say that he'll even keep his spot in the 22 (and especially the 21) in the next few weeks.

If he scores his average this week, he'll drop a further ~$44,000. I figure that if ever I'm going to trade him, now seems to be as good a time as any.

Problem #2: I have pretty much nothing in the bank. I'm a few grand short of Sam Fisher.

I could:
a) hold onto Bruce in the hope that he'll improve his performance once he gets used to his surroundings, etc.
b) straight swap for a Heath Shaw/Jed Adcock type, both of whom have significant pros and cons.
c) construct a double-trade whereby I prematurely downgrade one of my cows to grab an Enright/Newman/Broughton/Fisher kind before Bruce drops in price any further.

I love SuperCoach!

Re: Round 4 Trades

Think I'm going to do the following:

OUT:
Goddard
Knights

IN:
McKernan
Swan

It's sideways as all hell, but here's how I see it.

1) Goddard will lose value and I want to see some form before I get him again.
2) Knights and McKernan are much of a muchness (I know it's early, but I'd rather have the $100k in my pocket now I've had a couple of weeks to look at them). Granted Knights has more potential, neither are keepers, so show me the money.
3) In the next couple of weeks, combining the maturation of my cash cows, I'll be able tp pull another double switch somewhere to hopefully re-draft Goddard.

both a crazy moves - in fact book yourself in for some treatment.

Re: Round 4 Trades

Don't have McKernan, decided to go Smith over McKernan due to McKernan appearing to play mostly as a KPF. Young KPF's are usually pretty inconsistent. Also, Smith's been named to play in the centre this week, so he should get more of the ball. That's my reasoning anyway.
Cheers mate, yeah going Smith as well.

My final trades:
Out: Bruce, Knights
In: Smith, Rioli, $100k

Although i think both Bruce and Knights can turn it around, i'm not willing to wait and find out. I think with the money I make from Smith and the extra 100k I have, these trades are going to pay off in the long run. I'll also might be able to upgrade an extra week early now with the extra coin :thumbsu:

Re: Round 4 Trades

who should i trade out to get z. smith: jolly/stanley/cordy

I am thinking cordy as I'm not sure how many chances he is gonna get.

What do you guys think I should do?

Re: Round 4 Trades

Think I'm going to do the following:

OUT:
Goddard
Knights
+2trades

IN:
McKernan
Swan

When you consider you have to use 2 trades to do this. It becomes not worth it.

Re: Round 4 Trades

Heppell
Duigan
S.McKernan
Otten
Toy
Curnow
Pittard
Harris
Richardson
Matera
Karakour

They're all in for me this week. All started under 200k, and could all potentially score under 60-70.

Glad i didn't have to trade though (and keep a starting 22) :D

Re: Round 4 Trades

R Shaw -> Heppell.

Was mulling over a couple of other trades, but I think I'll leave it at that for this week. I have a full squad on the pitch, plus emergencies available in all except the mids. It also gives me a little shy of $350K in the kitty for a couple more strategic trades over the coming weeks.

Re: Round 4 Trades

I'm taking a bit of a risk this week.

I have no cover in defence, mids and forwards but I'm holding onto my trades.

Bench players this week:

Defence - Goddard, Lower, Buckley
Mids - Montagna, Libba, Bewick
forwards - Roo, Higgins, Smith (I know I ****ed up with smith thought he was named rnd 1.)

Considered trading Smith and or Buckley but gonna take a bit of a gamble.

Will pray for no late withdrawals to my players. Will see how it goes.

Fair to say I'm not expecting a big score this week. :o

Re: Round 4 Trades

Ended up going Bruce > Smith.

I remembered I had Liberatore on the field with 2.11 before lockout. I have no midfield cover now because I would rather play Heppell than Stanley or Toy, so I'm taking a bit of a risk.

Praying for no late withdrawals from my midfield!

Good luck, all.

20-30 points over a few rounds can be the difference between a top 50 and top 500 end of year ranking.

Given that we've got an extra 4 trades this year, my advice would be to splurge a bit on luxury trades, as this could end up being the difference between winning or losing league games.

I've tended to adopt a pretty aggressive trade strategy over the last couple of years, and it's worked out well for me, so I'd rather 'advise' people based on my experience, rather than the general SC population.

"That's how I roll..." ;)

Having said all that, I completely understand where you're coming from :thumbsu:

Re: Round 4 Trades

Conca to Prestia.

More of a strategic move than anything else, but I didn't like the role Conca was playing (defensive back pocket).

He comes out and plays in the middle tonight and guns it of course haha.

Same here. Did the same trade for the same reason. Was expecting Conca to be taken back to the last line of defence by the Pies small forwards. Felt physically ill watching him play further up the ground and get some cheap possessions. Still reckon Prestia will make some good coin though, and have mid/fwd MPP, so it wasn't a total loss.

Re: Round 4 Trades

Heppell
Duigan

if i get 600-700 from this group, i will be set for 2300 easy this week. will be thinking about hibberd as a midfield downgrade to get rid of krakouer maybe before round 6.

only 4 players missing this week and next week due to byes, but it will hit hard when bartel, enright, pavlich and rioli all go missing the same week.

so hopefully 2200 over the next week and above 2000 in round 6.

+28 points and 100k so far lol

Both Bruce and Knights got plenty of it judging by their dt numbers but neither had a positive dt:sc ratio. Cyril was quiet by all reports and Selwood is one of the better taggers going around so i'll cop 70 odd.

Yeah fair point, a few points can make a big difference. I'll be getting a lot more aggressive with the trades pretty soon I think, I'm looking forward to bringing in a few more guns ;)

Re: Round 4 Trades

Want to trade out Everitt, but don't know who for? Any ideas ?
