With digital tv and such you think it would be possible to have the option of ABC or 9 commentary. Would be great.

I don't think Nine would appreciate you not getting the full run-down on next year's high-expense reality flop instead of cricket commentary. If the ABC advertised Nine's programs for them, broke for Nine's ads, did in the in-program promotions for whatever betting sponsor they have that year, etc, they might try to offer that option.
It also may be technically a bit more difficult over broadcast medium to mix and match like that than it is with cable, I'm not sure how the cable system works with things like viewer's choice. Maybe it could be an option for those viewing Nine through Foxtel/Austar, depending on the nature of the contracts.

There would never be an option like this but it definitely is possible.

I was once watching the spring tour on fox an there was a choice between British an aus commentary. Over in south Africa they usually always have an Afrikaans an English stream.

Got this from a mate before the last day, liked it, thought I'd share it.

Mark Nicholas….

-Navy blue Anthony Squires 2-button suit. Trousers 1-size too small, plums clearly defined.
-classic white Geives & Hawkes spread collar French cuff shirt.
-Purple soft-stripe Ermenglido Zegna tie. Extra fat, slightly asymmetrical Windsor knot.
-John Batsanis chocolate leather-soled slip ons. Medium point toe.
-Hair….perfect, slightly fluttering in the Adelaide nor-wester.

Was listening to the Adelaide test on ABC and kept hearing a voice I couldn't pick who constantly drove me crazy with absolutely dumb comments.

Found out on day 4 that it was Tim Neilsen.

Are his stupid comments indicative of his coaching career?

A very dull and monotonous speaker, too. Quite hard to listen to.

All in all, the ABC commentary is superior to what Nine is offering, but the quality still fluctuates a fair bit. It's just frustrating when simple things aren't done well, like clearly and accurately informing the listener of how many DRS challenges a team has left (Drew Morphett in particular seemed to struggle with this).

At one point in the 2nd Test Healy referred to one of the batsmen at the crease as Peterson for a good 15 minutes after Peterson had been dismissed. None of the other idiots picked him up on it either, although maybe they were waiting for a break in the drivel to get a word in.

Fair enough both of you having a cack at him. But I think it's fair to acknowledge, despite his connections to Australia, despite him being coach of Australia during games that SA have embarrassed Aus, he wasn't barracking for them while he was on air. Unlike that muppet Morphett.

I don't recall.

I'm genuinely not having a crack at him just because of who he is. I honestly didn't recognise his voice thus made an effort to listen closely to find out who it was after his comments.

As much as I hated Roebuck alot of the time he added to the commentary and his loss has definately damaged the quality of their commentating.

I can appreciate a man who looks his best. NH, NTTAWWT

Tom Moody in the box now, good stuff. Hope Gilly makes an appearance some time during this test.

He's in Adelaide for a charity game on Sunday, so unlikely.

He was next to Ponting at the ground, hopefully comes on at some stage today.

I love the slats crescendo move. Starts off the sentence whispering, and in comes such and such , ( slightly louder volume) he's had a good series thus far , (even louder) puts it on a length and it's played back to the bowler

may I present an opinion about abc commentary?

kerry okeefe. everyone loves him. my only beef? constant references to sydney and nsw. only talk about hastings has been about his younger cricketing days in nsw. starc talk - west sydney this west sydney that.

PS: still love him!

LOL I switched on the radio last test and Kerry was asking which one out of Warner or Cowan is Katut or Rhonda. The guy is a bit different.

So Tom Moody is into the box. His voice can annoy a little (like an Australian Charlton Heston or something) but still a welcome addition and upgrade on the majority.

Bit like Slater who always craps on about the NRL, yet when anything AFL-related comes up in convo he's either quiet or talks as if it's this foreign spectacle.

TBF not many Victorians could contribute much of interest to a conversation on rugby league.

Your average New South Welshman knows about as much about Gary Ablett as Victorians do about John Raper.
