Having picks 38, 42, 48 and 58 was a case of attempting to guess which players would be around at my next selection.

At pick 38 I had a list of players I wanted for various reasons and I was hoping most of them would last.

Broomhead, McIntosh, Sumner, Hannath, Temay - Those were some of the options.

At some point I needed a replacement for McIntosh and other than Grundy there were slim pickings. The next best option was Hannath so I had to pick a moment that would allow me to not miss out.
I was going to wait until pick 58, but I was stupidly hoping that Temay would last until that pick and did not do enough research into the fact Humble Minion selected him in the trial, bad planning.

I have a feeling that missing out on Hannath would have been worse than missing out on Temay.

Pick 48 - North - Jack Hannath 200cm 97kg

Hannath had a great year for Centrals and in the last 3 years has really worked on his game and should be rewarded with a spot on an AFL list. With a lot of ruckmen they need time to develop and mature. Hannath is 200cm and increased his body size to 97kg, this will allow him to deal with the crash and bash nature of AFL. Also showing some decent speed over 20m ~3.1 and repeat sprinting for his size and has a decent tank and can run at least 13.5 in the beep. He managed to finish in the top 70th percentage in the 3km time trial, so he has a decent tank and I have no doubt that he can improve on these figures when he becomes a professional .

Hannath has shown the ability to move forward and even play defensively, all these attributes should translate to an AFL career. He has developed some solid footskills and really improved his position around the ground, something in his jnr years was a downfall.

I think North have managed to secure the second best ruckman in this draft, that is a good effort on their behalf.
Having one pick remaining, I am very happy with how this draft has ended up.

Replacement for Petrie in the future. (Sorry North fans, I don't rate a number of the talls you stated earlier in the thread)
Some solid midfield options in Broomhead and Sumner with both providing the ability to play forward and rotate into the midfield. I could even imagine Broomhead playing down back if required and provide some nice rebounding with his clean hands and ability over his head.

Simply going to go with my next best as have this kid rated at # 40

Matthew Dick – Calder Cannons / 187cm / 85 / ‘94
Was told early on this year to keep a close eye on this bloke and whilst I could see the potential the output probably wasn’t there. As 2012 has gone on this kid has really screamed up my ladder. Smooth moving, very quick and a terrific size for an AFL HB / Winger who clubs would be pretty excited about what he could do for them. His skills are excellent and whilst to me he looks a bit laconic he always gets the job done. In fact there was a piece of play at Champs where he worked brilliantly through between Wing and HF and he very nearly nailed the goal at the end of it. If he had have then there would have been much more chatter about him. I liken him a bit to Heath Shaw but a little less intense...not a bad thing! One I will keep my eye on closely as think he could be a late pick that really makes his mark.

North are just looking to get another aged tall so they can pilfer another high draft pick from the dees. :p
Nah we'll target Adelaide. We've palmed off Evan Hewitt, Brad Moran and a washed up Wayne Carey to them in the past, gotta keep that tradition going. I fear you guys have moved in on our territory by trading them Angus Graham though. Well played.

I think Wilkins athleticism puts him ahead of Marsh (only just...Marsh is extremely fit and has high endurance) and Howson's goal sense ahead of Rodda as a defender although as WCE I'd be taking Rodda as they have a plethora of key forwards who are still reasonably young (Darling, Kennedy)

GWS only had one more of those pre-listing trades left, so for someone to have gotten Frost with it, they would have to have offered GWS more for him that we offered them for Tom Lee (who we got with the last prelisting, as well as picks 24 and 43, for pick 12).

So what's the deal with Frost? Is he big and strong enough to play on the tall "gorillas" in the AFL (like Tippett, Petrie, Cox, Hawkins, and in the future, J Daniher, Patton, etc) and what are his best attributes?

Frost is a nice size at194 though he needs a bit more weight. He is very athletic and hits aerial contests hard. His hand below his knees and kicking have both improved. You could mount a case he is clearly better than clurey big tanner and macintosh and only 3 years older. If essendon lost hooker or pears I would have nabbed him and nearly did anyway.

Sorry Swannies time to move on. Used Chris25 next pick which I think is;

# 67 Hawthorn - Louis Herbert

# 68 GWS - Mason Wood

Marsh is by the strong contested footballer, i also think his kicking is more consistent and he's as strong overhead. Simply the better prospect for mine.
