Cheers for the info.

Just interested - where do you get all your info ? Do you attend games, watch TV footage, word of mouth ?
Attend the odd game and watch as much TV & video footage as I can possibly get hold of. There's some good people to listen to but I rather just form my own opinions, if every AFL clubs recruiter can have such differing opinions I may as well just rely on mine as well.

This is from Brett Anderson on twitter:
Just on Jake Stringer & his still healing broken leg: He only started kicking on it at the Combine & was fairly sore afterwards. #AFLDraft

Now I'm torn. Really want Stringer for talent, aggression and his ability to take a game on BUT his injuries are making me a little apprehensive. If our medicos reckon his leg is an issue, I would be happy with Vlaustin, Mayes or Kennedy.

Kinda hoping we don't take Jaksch because as good as a forward he may develop to be - a mid could slot right in in 2013 and make a difference. Plus we're not exactly lacking KPF prospects - despite the external opinion. At least one of Levi, Mitchell or Rowe will work out + Lachie maybe.
My main concern is not having quality replacements for the post judd era + Simmo, carrots etc.

Thanks Sin, for the 3rd round. posted a reply there. Any Collins class half forward/midfielder that might sneak under the sonar for the fourth round?

Just feel we need a couple more goalkicking wingmen. Kade Simpson is our only reliable finisher, unless Lucas finally steps up.

Does anyone think that kennedy could play as a small back pocket for his "apprenticeship"? fast and hard (which scares most small fowards) and a great kick (creating play out of defence)
plus this would also help develop the defensive side of his game.

a better version of aaron joesph???

I think joseph should be played through the midfield or half forward this year. He played all his junior footy as a midfielder so when he is thrust into the back line he really is being played out of position.......

as for the draft i think it will be one of the widest spread of talent in a long time, most of the players in the top 20 could really go in any spot... like most people have said stringer would have gon in the 5-8 range but cause of his leg could go 11-15. Menzel two weeks ago was getting round the 10-13 mark now possibly being touted as a 3 by GWS. so i all is a really open draft.

Any speculative ruck prospects we can rookie? The heat's off a little now Casboult has come on as a forward/ruck, but I think we still should consider one.

Yep I personally would like to see us go with x4 kids in the ND (no drafting of Reimers/Collins pls) and a speculative ruckman in the Rookie draft who we can develop for a couple of years on the rookie list. We will need to upgrade at least Bell, and possibly RO''K if he comes along this year, so having a kid we plan on keeping on the rookie list would help with list management, not to mention the fact we will most likely lose a Hampson/Warnock at the end of next year, esp is Kreuzers fitness improves and he makes it through the year unscathed (one can only hope ;) )

Have an opinion, but this post helps me out a bit.

Stringer had a poor running gait because of fatigue on the leg. Having said that, he kicked 10 goals in his first game back from the injury at TAC level. Going back to the original point though, experts quoted in the Herald Sun suggest that the gait and injury could be managed and fixed in about 3 months. Id be happy to take Stringer and give him a year to recoup. Its a broken bone with a bit of muscle deterioration as a result, it will heal with medical intervention and can be made stronger if required. Its not like a knee, or shoulder or hip, where they are joints, this is purely skeletal. I have confidence he will be fine and the talent he possesses cannot be overlooked if he is available. He fills a number of holes as a player.

Doubt we take a primary big with the first pick as we do need successions for Judd and Carrazzo etc. Could see a big selected in the 2nd or 3rd though and also a run and carry player late, unless they chose to take the chance on Reimers. As for the 1st, I would like a Juddesque type and to me that aint Kennedy. Great little player sure, but we have greater needs IMO. Toumpas, Wines and ORourke will be gone, so I see Lonergan as the next best. I know Im pushing this barrow a bit, but if we dont take the quintessential with Stringer, a hard in and under player should be our next option and this kid is all that plus some.

Stringer (Lonergan)
White
Thurlow
Taylor

Rookie - Ruckman who can play and develop in the Ants.. (Like Sammy Jacobs)

Draft order finalised

Carlton have 7 picks - 2 promoted rookie + 5 live picks.
Curnow must not have been promoted as Tuohy and Casboult have been confirmed as promotions.
Seems to me we must rate this draft if we are willing to pick 5 kids (or maybe 4 + reimers).

Noted that Roberton from Freo has been cut after wanting to return to Victoria. Possibly getting a look in...hence the one fewer rookie upgrades?

So wtf is happening with Curnow? If we retain him as a Rookie then shouldn't we have 1 rookie spot with Bell, ROK and Curnow?

You guys must be planning on passing at pick 76 so you can have 39 and 5 rookies. Curnow could then become a nominated rookie next year. Otherwise why would Collins bother to train for a rookie spot. Still begs the question why you wouldn't just upgrade Curnow, maybe you wanted to get 50% of his salary onto the rookie list?

Depends if we decide to re-list Collins, put him on the Rookie List or let him go.
But yes, we currently have 4 rookies, so either we go 39+5, or don't pick up another rookie.

Yeah, it's a possibility. Clearly we didn't trade with Freo because their last pick is at 40, so there was no incentive.

Which means we won't be getting Reimers. :D We could've easily handed them pick 76, as the Bombers have live selections 89 and 101.

Bell would be the nominated rookie for next year. I think that we might just upgrade Curnow on the night.

Whats your dream first choice pick to suit your club?
During the year the boys asked dayle garlett what team would you like to play afl for. he replied,
well i would preffer and rather not play footy or live in queensland, adelaide ,sydney with the new teams and the other teams like
the cats, tigers, freo, north melb, blues he cant see himself playing for them as not a fan of them growing up so hopefully not them teams will be sweet. but the the rest is ok, so guys would you rather a player like vlastuin, jasksch, kennedy, clurey, stringer ect that are keen to play with pride as there is so many great kids around ?

Nothing will ever top the look on Leroy Jetta's face when he got told he was recruited by Essendon in 2006.

Just had a good couple of looks at Stringers youtube clip... And as Blighty once said " I couldn't give a rats toss" about his broken leg or if he did the 3km time trial at combine handstanding!! He looks great at vfl level, nurture his leg through preseason, manage it well and he will be fine.
Stringer will be a superstar.

Get him.

Collingwood eyes the Jack Darling of this year's draft
Garlett's manager, Jason Dover from Stride Sports, said the Swan Districts prodigy could become an "extraordinary" pick-up for a club "with the right resources".

"There's not many guys that have come along at senior WAFL level at his age and had the impact that Dayle Garlett has had," Dover said.

"Steve Coniglio maybe. Daniel Wells - that type of footballer. He's almost unmatched at that age.

"He's a special talent coming off a low base, because he hasn't had many of the advantages of the AFL (pathway) system.

"He's probably had the worst possible preparation to become an AFL footballer, yet he's playing at the highest level."

Just another stab in the dark.

Wonder if Garlett is tanking because he wants to get to Hawthorn.

A lot of WC's supporter base won't be happy if he gets to Collingwood using their former pick.
