My ideal draft as of now -

9 - Vlastuin
32 - Graham
34 - Atkins
43 - McDonough or Nelson

Rookie Petterd and a mature ruck. :thumbsu:

Interesting a poster claiming to be close to a number of Stingray players has said that Richmond want Garner.

I would be happy with Garner. Talented, Tough and has X-factor. Shoulder is a little concerning though. If the medical checks out though....

Where was this toadvine??? I would take a punt on him.

Apologies & thanks to Mr.bullus_hit if he already posts here, but really liked this summary he wrote on PRE and had to share:

Be interested to read the thoughts of tigs, bob & m_r......

Plowman is a jet. Has the potential to become a midfielder IMO. Problem for us is he hasn't really played that role yet and it will be a bit of a project. I also don't see a need for him in the backline. Comes down to if the club thinks he'd be a good fit and can they develop him into a midfielder.

I personally wouldn't mind drafting Stringer with pick nine. I'd also like to get Tipungwuti with either a late pick or in the rookie draft.

No thanks to Stringer. IMO he's a 2nd round prospect.

Tipungwuti in the rookie draft? Yes, ****ing please. :D He's so strong over the ball, uses it well and quick with elite agility on the field.

From the quick look I saw of his clip, his kicking agility and marking looked pretty good. Granted he is a little skinny but given we have mature bodied rucks/kpps already on the list we wouldn't need to rush him, we could let him develop in the gym for a couple of years. For mine if he was on the board at 43 I would be happy if we called his name out.

I just don't see it with him. He's a CHB rather than a ruck prospect IMO and we already have a tonne of them that we will struggle to fit them all in anyway. I think we need mids or guys who can pinch hit midfield and use the ball well. Then take a ready made ruckman in the rookie draft whose 22-24.

Do we want him at pick 9 or 32? I know it's unlikely but we wanted Harper 2 years ago and he nearly lasted to our pick 30. Maybe his injury will see him slide further than BF predicts which wouldn't be the first time. :p

Yeah goes with the rumour we have interviewed him 3 times already. You don't do that if your not keen on someone. Richmond are very thorough in assessing players personalities.

Like you, I would be delighted. Has the ability to be that Nat Fyfe type player, but this boy is just as hard at the contest as Vlastuin, but has more tricks. The only real knock on the boy is his shoulders, but it was more of him playing with a bad shoulder and not saying anything because he wanted to show what he has got to recruiters. Eventually had the reco and should be fine. What that showed me was his character. How tough is this kid? Amazing really.

We won't get wrong with either Vlastuin or Garner.

In Knightmare's mock draft thread a Bulldogs supporter wrote

Knightmare I'm close to garner -wright-and Calvert Richmond want garner collingwood and Essendon want wright and Geelong and Fremantle want Calvert

Could develop into that Ryon O'Keefe HFF/strong tackling mid who is outstanding overhead and kick goals

Imagine how hard it would be as a recruiter to not become emotionally attached to players. Especially when you interview them over and again and they get pinched from under your nose. Think Grundy could be that cat amongst the pigeons. We are all set on a midfielder of sorts and in comes Grundy. Hmmmm wish this draft would just happen already. Spending way too much time in here :)

If I was to do a comparison:

Garner:
PROS:
Can play as HFF
Excellent hands for someone of his size
Attacks the ball so hard
Has some tricks when evading players
Knows how to kick a goal or three
Excellent skills
Loves to tackle
TEAM player
Tiger supporter

CONS:
Not a big ball winner
Is not a pure inside midfielder
Not that great at stoppages
Has shoulder issues

Vlastuin:
PROS:
Can play as HBF
Very good hands for his size
Attacks the ball manically
Bulls his way through packs
Best inside midfielder of pool
Excellent at clearances
Future captain material
Excellent skills
Tackling machine

CONS:
Hasn't got much class
Isn't athletically gifted
Hasn't shown forward ability as of yet
Ankle injury (Shouldn't be a problem anymore.)
Barracks for the filth.

You can make the decision.

Fair enough as I said I believe we need a tall and that will likely be Wood in the rookie draft so am happy to go with the midfielder types and really build up some genuine depth through there.

Richmond of yesteryear. Vlastuin. No trust to develop a Garner type, Vlastuin is not needing that much development at all and ready to go, but lacks anymore or much more upside. Not a bad thing, but he is what he is, a damn good player.

Richmond of today, Garner all the way. Just so much upside which is a dreaded word for us because of the past, but something we should embrace and enjoy the journey. I have full faith in our club to make him the best he can be, and in my opinion, if he reaches his best, could be anything, even the best player from this draft. So many tricks, athletically and football related. Your right, doesn't consistently find it enough, but has done and in big games. So the ability it there.

I still take Grundy in front of both, but as I have said, we won't go wrong with any of them. Good draft to have an early pick with our club and the way we are situated.

Depending on the drop of picks...

Could all just come down to which player in the Draft fits the Team's most pressing needs...possibly an inside mid to replace Tucky...

Wait and see...

Is anyone willing to do one of those for O'Rourke, Macrae and Mayes? I've heard their names slip down the order, and Macrae has been linked to Richmond often.

Nice summary bob. Agreed in that I'd take Grundy over either of them but I'd also take Garner over Vlaustin. Any of those 3 and I'll be a happy man.

Why do people have different views of Dean Towers? He seems like a mid-late first rounder but some have him in the middle or late part of the second round

His age. Talent wise he's probably a top 15 talent but being 22 will scare a few clubs off.

Inside Footy draft guy just tweeted that he wouldn't be surprised if Grundy slips to GWS at 12!!!!!!!!

So we may well overlook if available? I'd be peeved

Agree with Vlastuin but really like Wright with 1 of our second round picks. Really hoping Hrovat might slip to these picks aswell (wishfull thinking) & I like McDonough at 43 if he's still there.
Happy with your rookie selections aswell

Have noticed this theme from many posters - Why the hell are we in a hurry to Replace Tucky !!

He is just about to enter his prime 30-38 is when the tucks play their best football,Essendon are in no hurry to get rid of fletcher and he will be 38 next may ???

One of these three outcomes please..

A:
9. Vlastuin
32. Atkins
34. Boston
43. Sumner

B:
9. Garner
32. Graham
34. Pongracic
43. Lowrie

C:
9. Grundy
32. Graham
34. Atkins
43. Herbert

RE Garner.

Friends of friends and I've been told that the Swans are the only team that have committed to taking him if available. Obviously grain of salt because their first pick is behind the rest of us. I'll try to find out more!
