Well I'll be bottom half for sure, and with the upgrades I've made hopefully I can cause an upset, but more likely I'll get someone who'll smash me 2300-2000.

Hopefully I can draw you as an opponent.

Ziebell(C) and Barlow should be easy beats. :)

Dont forget Murphy! I bought him in 2 weeks ago for returns of 94 & 68. :thumbsu: I had him as Captain last week, thank goodness I went back to Ziebell or I would have lost my Eliminator by 3 points! :p

In all seriousness, I've lost patience with Ziebell, massive spud/turnover merchant. Hope he gets dropped this week.

Will most likely be trading him out for Mitchell this week (have 3 Rd11 bye players in my mids ATM) so this move will pretty much destroy Mitchell's season, especially after I put the C on him. ;)

It's all a lesson learnt for next year.

Players like Barlow, Ziebell, Hayes etc... were all players that you either had from the start of the season or not at all. Once the season commences it is more prudent to grab proven players that have dipped in price rather than grabbing players that have had one or two good games. Make your speculative choices (and make them sparingly) at the start of the season in your initial team after watching the Nab Cup.

Barlow and Hayes are proven players but they have missed a lot of footy in recent times. Hayes seems to have picked up where he left off but he won't produce massive scores at a consistent level like Swan, Boyd, Pendles, Ablett etc...

I learnt my lesson a few years ago when I chased Leigh Harding after he scored 150 in round 1. It was a noobish thing to do and I have witnessed so many similar trades made on this forum over the last few years and most of them end in heartache.

I have certainly given you a hard time over the selections of Barlow and Ziebell but that's only because of the mistakes I have made in the past. I like Ziebell but he lacks consistency and that will only come with more experience. Due to injury he is a year or two behind Steele Sidebottom in his development and he is probably not a bad option for next year.

Please excuse the long post!

I'm still backing Barlow to come good. Watching him on the weekend he looked very sore. He might need a rest for a game or two at some point, but if he gets it I'm confident he'll start pumping out 100's again. I think you can afford to carry one midfield keeper averaging 100-105 or so traded in at a price of only 400k as long as the rest of your midfield is made up of superpremiums and the cash saved is put to good enough use elsewhere to make up the gap between your M6 and the superpremium you don't have in your side because you used the spot on the cheap premium.

It's all good. :thumbsu:

I did start of with Hayes with a plan to upgrade/sideways trade him to a super premium before his Rd13 bye to a Swan/Boyd/Pendles whoever is killing it and has already had their bye. Hayes is holding up his part of the deal so far by averaging 105 and should be over 500k by the time I trade him if he keeps it up. Hopefully there won't be too much price difference so I can do it with a single trade.

I'm going Bugg>Birchall & Ziebell>Mitchell this week which will give me a much better structured team.

Deledio, Goddard, Broughton, Hargrave, Malceski, Clarke, Birchall (Ellis, Townsend)
Thompson, Murphy, Mitchell, Hayes, Barlow, Horsley (Greene, Magner)
Kruezer, Giles (Redden, Stephenson)
Sidebottom, Robinson, Franklin, Chapman, Beams, N Riewoldt, Treloar (D Smith, Couch)

Still doesn't look too crash hot, but during/after the byes when Hayes becomes Swan, Greene becomes Ablett & Devon becomes whichever premium is averaging 95+, it will be quite a strong team. I should still have half a dozen trades after the byes which most likely wont be enough, but if I have a good run with injury who knows...

Good stuff!

FWIW, I think 6 trades is enough for the last 10 rounds if your team has solid emergencies.

I concur. Barlow is the one speculative mid that I plan on carrying all season (if he stays fit) I bought him in to be a keeper, as did most people who traded him in, I would have thought. Hopefully he will average enough to justify M6.

I was hoping Ziebell would do a Scott Selwood/Brad Ebert but it wasn't to be. Was worth a try IMHO.

Hayes will become Swan for Rd13 & Greene will be Ablett for Rd14 so my midfield will look pretty close to how I want it to by then.
