NFL 2012 NFL - Week 4

There's a power shift in the NFL happening it appears.

Texans now top dogs in the AFC, as in looking like it for the next 5 years. Bengals in contention as top dogs in the AFC North for the next 5 years (their roster is loaded with talent). Dolphins have one of the best D's in the league. Bills on the verge of becoming a more consistent playoff contender.

Then in the NFC you have Cardinals, Seahawks, Niners and one day soon Rams, becoming the division of death already, supplanting the NFC East and NFC South of that. Falcons look like a 10 year force. NFC North is wide open now.

Gee where do i start with this!!!

AFC

Texans are not top dogs YET and the Pats will come hard don't worry about that.

Bengals are pretenders carried by AJ Green and god help them if he goes down and their D is suspect while prone to bonehead moments that cost them games.

Fins are mediocre but will upset a few teams on their way to 7-8 wins for the season.

Bills need a solid QB and until they have this they will be just around the mark but lose the games they need to win.

NFC

Cards will make playoffs with a WC and then crash as the stability at QB kills them.

Seahawks see above but no playoffs for them!

Rams will be shit for the next 5 years and will only get worse when S Jax continues to break down carrying them.

Falcons i agree with partially but they need to prove it when it matters most in playoffs and until then i am glass half empty type with them.

When I press 'like' on this..doesn't mean I'm married to every word. :p NFC North wide open right now.. yes indeed. Vikes have some weight to throw around finally. Rest of the post is drivel. :D

You're clueless with your opinions and tips so i expect the complete opposite to happen.

You're saying that to Chism when he's replying to GG?
GG has a strike rate of about 1 in 200.
Almost odds on now the Cards will suck.

Keep talking after your moment in the sun after a missed FG and i expect you to fully disappear from this board after the Cards start losing.

Want to add something meaningful or just snipe at people??

After the crap you were spouting in that thread i'd suggest you move along. Yeh a missed field goal, why don't you actually go back and watch the game since you didn't bother since it was a 57-0 smashing.

Pfft like losing has ever bothered a Cards fan.

I did watch the game and witnessed Brady having his worst outing for 5 years while the Cards played lights out. By all means hang your hat on it to consolidate an argument and you seem like a hero poster with a look at me attitude.

Keep going though as it is amusing and yet i am the one that needs to move on???? Hello you attacked me.

No need for such derogatory remarks. So what, he didn't give the Cards a chance @ NE but neither did much of the NFL fan base across the planet. I'm sure you enjoyed your moment after the Cards needed holding penalties & missed FG's to claim a 'lucky victory' but at the end of the day Hlebalicious, why post when your team is winning??

I don't know if you watched the game or not but it was anything but a lucky victory, we outplayed them for the entire game and it comments like that are what annoys people. You just see the Pats missed a FG and jump to the conclusion that it was lucky without taking into the context of the full game.

Look maybe it came off as strong but the way he was going on in that thread was a joke and ridiculous, Cards fans don't get much chance to brag so being able to shut people up once in a while is good.

You think i didn't ridicule him (in person!!) I was laughing at his fuming.. when you gave it him.. :D And you're SPOT ON, I only watched bits & pieces of the last Q and posted that response to test your resolve. :p

It will be kind of funny if the real refs **** something up badly and cost a team a game this week now.

Gotta wonder how sharp they will be after this as I'm guessing they were doing anything officiating. I know what Ed Hochuli would have been doing - working those guns.

i think it was the (unfairly so) infamous Pete Luckett(?) who reviewed the TD for GB @ Seattle. He also reviewed the tennessee miracle when he called a parallel moving ball as a fair throw which was the right call imo. he is a regular official. hoping a big call goes against Oakland on Monday because the reaction would be funny!!

As a former official for several seasons (I know local level but still...) it's like riding a bike Oscarman. You'll be switched on and ready because you watch enough football as it is and they'd be just as embarrassed as the fans are. They'll have a few things to work on in the pre-game with what to watch for ect ect.. our pre-game meetings were very fascinating and you'd just learn aspects (tendencies of teams/ players) of the game by just listening. I miss them days in parts. I don't miss working with the guys who just didn't take their job seriously. It was a pocket money paid job that felt like a week of fulfilment. The Sunset Bowl is long remembered as my fav when an ex-AFL player (Jon Ballantyne) was playing TE and he dropped the game winning TD... DROPPING AN ABSOLUTE SODA went thru hands and hit his gut. I was right there on the goal line ready to signal TD but alas.. he burned his chance as the other team went on to win on the next drive. Double OT was required IIRC.

That would just be business as usual......

Divine intervention.. how about that? :p TOUCHDOWN SEAHAWKS!! That'll end this replacement refs debacle.. I'd say Phil made the 'smart call' but not the right call.

The Titans lateral was ridiculous. Fwd pass 24/7.... give an inch but in saying that.. KARMA STRIKES BACK!! :)

that call would of been perfect for green bay vs seattle.
"Golden Tate PI....but catches it....THERE ARE NO FLAGS ON THE FIELD!!!!"

Just like AFL, there is a more finer line with NFL which can be such a GREY AREA.. they allow accidental contact...running under ball as long as eyes on ball and minimal arm contact.. uniforms brush each other happens.. but as soon as one player holds his ground whether it's palming away opponent, that's where it's construed / interpreted as a PI by the offender but it's more likely against the defender in most cases I've noticed. Disappointing as minimal contact shouldn't be based on 'extending arms' as you can still extend arms and somewhat make accidental contact with elbow/ forearm "in attempting to play the ball". I get peeved at no extended arms and a body nudge.. posturing.. BIG DEAL. Credit the player for positioning himself first and not allowing his opponent to encroach his space... no flags either way for mine. But officials feel that without a crowd call, they feel left out. Meh..

Let 'em play and don't manufacture a dubious penalty. One of the better things about the replacement refs was letting the players play. How they missed 'obvious stuff' is what disappoints... points to incompetence/ carelessness just as much as botched calls (born from OVER-OFFICATING!!).

In regards to my theory on the power shift: http://www.nfl.com/standings

A lot of the teams that have dominated and/or been regular conference champions, for the last decade are in 3rd or last place in their respective divisions........Patriots, Steelers, Colts, Packers, Saints.

It's only week 3, but usually in the first month you see the same teams dominating their division standings, so it's like a current changed trend, that admittedly mightn't continue, but you'd have to admit also might continue.

Usual-suspect division top dogs like Ravens, Chargers, Falcons, Giants, Eagles, Bears, still going strong, but Chargers and Eagles for instance are playing at a poorer standard than years past, apparently in decline. Vikings threatening to surprise all and make the playoffs. Cardinals re-risen. Niners a new top dog. Seahawks re-risen. Texans a new top dog. Bills and Dolphins far better teams than they were a few years ago. Bengals a new force in their division. Lions a new force in their division. Raiders, Chiefs, Broncos getting better. All these teams turned new corners that they seem to forecast being top dogs in a few years.

Basically, it's not so cut and dry as it used to be a few years ago. A bigger divide between the top 1-2 teams in each division and the 3-4 teams. But there's a lot of divisions now wide open.
