why is noone giving okeefe any love? has always scored well in the past and improved his average last year... also can use him with the captain loophole... is looking relatively unique at this stage

It's probably a combination of his age and the plethora of other MID/FWD options out there. Plus, last year's form brings with it a high starting price. I guess most people think there is better value with others.

Re the loophole, I've got a feeling it'll be closed this year - recent post from Warnie suggested as much.

  • Old
  • Pushed out of the midfield by the new brigade (Jetta, Bird, JK, Jack)
  • Peaked (Expensive)
  • Bye round doesn't help
You never know, though could be worth the risk.

You're right, you'd know way more about Port's best 22 than the unanimous opinions of 59 Port supporters. Please pick Pfeiffer, it'll make DT that much easier for me :)

I suppose he could do an O'Shea and come from nowhere to play 18 games for Port. But nobody saw O'Shea playing 18 games coming, probably including O'Shea himself. You might get lucky just like anyone who picked O'Shea did, but unless you're just trying to be different there are about 10 cheaper and safer options than Pfeiffer unless he dominates the NAB cup.

Get on him, Port are a rabble.
No seriously, i have a few mates who are Port supporters and they tend to over rate their putrid list to no end, he should play...

i dont really rate supporters views on best 22's because really they dont know half the stuff that the coaches know so obviously coaches have favrioutes who supporters dont like

a perfect example is stiller for brisbane most if not all supporters dont like/rate stiller but voss loves him

obviously supporters know there club alot better than opposition supporters but i take supporters best 22's with a grain of salt im sure im not the only one

I remember going to the Port board and asking for some advice on Cameron O'Shea last year as all I could find was the info in the prospectus. You dismissed him as not being a regular, without giving any reason. He played 18 games :o

I would think Pfeiffer would be a lock to be the upgraded Port rookie, and let's face it, he's not playing for Collingwood. The kids need experienced players to take the weight off their shoulders. Having been drafted by Adelaide, and then actually playing when traded to Carlton, a more mature 24 year old Pfeiffer should play majority of the season barring injury.

I give up. I hope you all waste your money on an overpriced rookie who'll probably only play 5-10 games.

If you took a random sample of 59 Brisbane posters, do you think that not a single one of them would consider Stiller best 22?
i dont really care if he scores well or not to be honest im not to happy about having to pay the extra 20 grand

and i still dont rate supporters views of best 22's

time will tell who's right

Surprised about all the talk about Pfeiffer.

At this stage, I would have him on the 'consider' list, but would not look at him again until the beginning of Round 1. We can promote a Rookie Prior to Round 1 and it will be between Irons, Pfeiffer, Jonas and Webb.

If its Pfeiffer, you would think he would play and could be an alright pick.

Quarterback role is exactly what he would be doing.

You'd think if we wanted a quarterback we would've taken Urquhart, seeing as we had Urquhart training at the club and that Pfeiffer has been playing as a centre square midfielder in the SANFL in recent times.

And you guys have Pittard a more than handy half back flank type who has a very good kick.

Gopower, how has the preseason of Pittard been, does he have a chance to move into the midfield?

Really tempted to get Gibbs as one of my premium mids.

Will be slightly unique, more upside considering the super pre season and more midfield time promised, plus he is in the final bye round, helping with Bye structure for my team.

Averaged 123.8 in his last 5 games.

Yeh i have thought about him due to unique reasons and also as you have stated above a move to the midfield ect. The only thing is he is like Monfries the coach/media say he is expecting a move into the midfield and it never eventuates. Will be one to monitor closely in the NAB cup to determine his role.

Gibbs could be a great buy, but the difficulty is fitting him in.

Most teams will have Barlow, Ablett, Thompson or Murphy, plus Pendles or Swan. Doesn't leave much room.

Currently got Ablett, J Selwood, Gibbs and Barlow. VB, Thompson, Redden and Rockliff have also featured in my starting midfield before.

Looking at Upgrading to Swan and Pendles once their price drops.

Am starting with Pendles but starting to think Thompson is a better bet due to his draw?

he's also 2 years older than when he averaged those numbers as well

on the topic of knees i highly doubt i will be going with barlow this year to many other good/underpriced premiums available

Sounds logical, but it's always dangerous leaving out Swan from your starting side. Although you do have Ablett.

@Bombermick, I think Ablett will be ranked number 1, so that covers the loss of Swan from Round 1. Hopefully he has a poor start and I can upgrade to him quickly.

I’m pretty happy with this team, mainly as It has the 8, 11, 11 bye structure.

Defenders: Goddard, Deledio, Shaw, Broughton, Clarke, Ellis, Spurr
(Darley, L Brown)

Midfielders: Ablett, J Selwood, Gibbs, Barlow, Horsely, Shiel
(Wingard, Clifton)

Rucks: Jacobs, Mumford
(Giles, Stephenson)

Forwards: Franklin, Zaharakis, Martin, J Lewis, Sidebottom, Zorko, Smedts
(Kerridge, Pfeiffer)

Cash Left: $75,200

Byes: Def (2, 4, 3) Mids (2, 2, 4) Rucks (2, 2, 0) Fwds (2, 3, 4)

Comments appreciated :):thumbsu:

Interesting.

His previous 2 years he averaged 109 and 108, last year before injury was 107. Priced at 76.

The knee is the key but like all others he's TTHD.

Lenny injured his knee in the early rounds of last season. We all know how meticulous he is with his recovery, so I don't expect it to be a major issue. Statistical trends suggest that his numbers should decline at 32 years of age, but we all know Lenny is different. He has to be on your radar priced at 76, you would be foolish not to consider him.

Fwiw I have his ceiling at 105.

Im not sure about Ablett just yet. Basically because last year most clubs knew they could be GC no matter how they played Ablett or who played on him. This year GC can only improve and should start finishing the second part of the season off really well. So what im saying is clubs didnt put to much work into Ablett tag wise, because they knew they could win anyway. That changes next year and i think he will be more heavily tagged, does he have the support around him? i still question that.

Im also considering leaving Buddy out, just to be different

Whether i have the balls is another thing.

Ablett is no stranger to a heavy tag. Insane not to pick him, based on that logic:confused:

I certainly know he can handle a tag, but to say it wont affect his DT average/scoring is ludicrous logic aswell. Ablett without a tag is 20 points better than one with a tag.

Last year from watching Gold Coast towards the back end of the season, clubs didnt really put too much time into him. Even when tagged they were pretty loose.

He certainly has been my number 1 or 2 picked midfield premium and he remains in the side and probably will come round 1.
