I think Karnezis trade value would be significantly less than his true value.

Hence why if he does leave, it would be much better for us if it's next season. That's assuming he has a good year, of course. But my fears about losing him are similar to the now debunked fears of losing Beams. Massive potential, but little delivery yet so an absolute steal.

FFS Beams won't leave Collingwood.

1. Collingwood won't trade him. Why on earth would you trade away one of your top 3 mids for a draft pick when you are in the middle of a premiership window? Unless Beams says he wants to leave, it won't happen
2. He loves it in Melbourne, at Collingwood, playing for the biggest club in the country.
3. He had the opportunity to stay in QLD with the Suns at draft time and knocked it back.
4. Having claye on the list doesn't automatically mean that he will drastically change his career for that. See Joel Selwood.

The idea of Dayne Beams in a Brisbane jumper would be great, but there is zero chance it would happen. So please can we stop bringing it up as a trade possibility and move on.

I said we could chase in. Whether he leaves collingwood or not we will have to wait and see. I think much depends on clokes deal, as in if Cloke leaves beams will get a huge pay day. But so far he ain't signing a pies contract so things aren't as rosy as you kindly put it. Oh and he knock back GC as he didn't want to play Vfl then in a teenage newcomer team.

As long as he keeps holding out signing with the pies he must be treated as a trade option

FFS????? Childish mate!

It's more that it's tiresome to keep reading that we should chase Dayne Beams when he's made it clear that he wants to stay at Collingwood and that according to reports he has basically agreed to a three year deal.

I'm guessing the only reason he hasn't signed on is simply that they will jiggle the figures depending on the final contracts of the other players Collingwood are signing up.

It's just pure blind optimism based simply on the fact that he comes from Queensland and his brother plays for us. If new information comes to hand suggesting that Dayne wants to go elsewhere then it's probably worth discussing otherwise it's simply covering well-trodden ground.

What I'm really looking forward to about trade period is not the Tippett chat (the correct word for that is dread), but the one or two smokies we'll pull off. It seems to happen in trade week recently, with Zorko and Lisle being last years' two, and Bewick in 2010 (although that one had a few different circumstances).

I reckon there'll be someone we trade for who no one has brought up as a possibility yet. That part is pretty exciting.

That would be great if we could do another Zorko or two.:)

Has not had much oppurtunity this year compared to last year.

Would love to see him playing along the wing as Grim mentioned.

Does anyone think we should trade for Beams??? ;)

I think Karnezis trade value would be significantly less than his true value.
You will find that very rarely does a club get true value for a player in any trade. Personally thought Mitch Clark was worth more than pick 12, yet that is all we got. I can only think of a few trades where a club got fair value for the player they were losing.

Patty K = late 2nd round pick or 3rd round (30-50 range)

I agree with your guess on what Karnesis would get us on the open market.

On the first half of your post, I still laugh when I remember we got a first rounder for Sherman... and that Sydney wanted to pay more!

Surely the Gunston trade would be a good yardstick to measure any trade of Karnezis, very similar situation if he wants out.

Let's hold off any patty trade conjecture until there is actually much more firmer evidence of him wanting out.

How does Collingwood do it? It's like they can afford every single gun player ever.. I look at their list and I see loads of guys that should be on 500k+ and yet they haven't busted their salary cap.. they resigned Beams and can still afford a reported 800k per year for Cloke.

The same way we did in the premiership years, the same way Geelong did in their great years - players taking less than market value to keep playing for premierships.

Obviously like Carlton, they cheat....:(

Gunston was a much better player at the end of last season than Karnezis is now. You can try and compare the two, but no other AFL club would be.

Thanks for speaking on behalf of all other clubs.
