Not to mention how poorly we were developing Kennedy. WC couldn't believe how unfit he was.
With respect, Kennedy was at the club for 2 years & had a number of injury concerns which prevented him from having a proper pre-season (he arrived at the club after having had shoulder surgery).

Never hit the gym in his entire life and still is quite skinny which suggests to me that he is a ectomorph which we have trouble developing. Seems like a player whose chances of success would be around 50/50. He either never puts on weight ( P McCarthy) and fails to make the grade or starts playing AFL footy once we are rebuilding.

On the same basis, his WA teammate, who seems to be a tall man-child playing against lighter bodies and will have to shed weight in order to reach AFL fitness. Has underwhelming endurance and while possessing acceleration has question marks over his speed.

Not to denigrate Cripps but you seem convinced McCarthy won't make it.

Pretty much any tall selected at that kind of mark is a big if that they will pan out. Could well go the same route as Paddy Mac and be gone within 3 or 4 years :( Definitely looks a likely type though!
Could also go the same way as Jeremy Cameron, who would have had the same question marks about him before being drafted.

I think a guy who has been playing all his life and only needs to lose a bit of a puppy fat is easier to develop then someone who struggles to put on weight and will have to improve his game sense to handle the speed of AFL football.

I'm not saying that McCarthy won't make it but those taller skinny types take more then a few years to come good. If we were rebuilding then I can handle it but as of right now I don't see the point. Malthouse doesn't seem to be a fan either of these types after he pulled the plug on McCarthy and tried to trade Bootsma.

They say 2014 is stronger for KPP but is there any guarantee we'll (a) select one with our top 20 pick or (b) the kid will turn out better than CM? McKay left the trade period disappointed that we hadn't tempted a tall prospect to our club. There's neither any guarantee we'll manage to attract one next year either.

If we select Cripps or some more highly rated youngster from the top 10, then I hope we at least give serious thought with later picks to talls such as McStay, Conlon, Giles, Harvey etc.

All for drafting a KPP with our later picks.

Maybe Brisbane need a new POL-E-C................(Policy..............)

3rd best in a weak KPP draft is nothing to be getting excited over.

Senior football against men is a bit different to under 18s. Don't think his transition to AFL will be so smooth when he comes up against grown men with ridiculously organized defenses.

Played Grade cricket for Fremantle for the last couple of years, that has probably been his focus, so didn't worry too much about the gym.

Apparently Cameron Giles is on our radar at Pick #39 if he's still available, according to somebody claiming to be in the know on the draft rumour board

Yeah, just saw that. Pretty close to a no-brainer for us should he be available.

Big call calling someone Hendo-like ;)

Not saying he's as good as Hendo or has the potential to be that good. However, take a look at the video on the URL. Tell me those highlights don't remind you of Hendo more than anyone that we currently have.

I was being facetious given my admiration for Hendo :P
