Could someone please tell give us an update on Sandilands? how is his foot?
As mentioned before, broke a 3km time trial and has not missed a beat on the track other than missing a training session due to a disclosed 'vascular operation'. From memory his new shoes have a carbon plate or something to reinforce it.

Suban, does he run in the middle or is he stuck further back? heard he had a good preseason so far and i will follow him in the NAB, was he injured or not always in the best 22 last year? i thought he would have broken out by now?

Not at all sure which position he is training in pre-season, but last year was used as a sub through the midfield with good effect hence the low-ish price. Injuries have affected his development, but he's having his best preseason AFAIK improving his fitness significantly. Could lift his average to 65ppg, maybe 70ppg.

(My best guess is that he will be a utility, but RTB may have other plans.)

Severely limited by impact injuries throughout his career. His averages last season don't tell the full story, as he was a late sub several times. Good value pick if he suits your structure.

Have selected him as my buddy in the BF Freo Buddy Draft, and being the most knowledgable and intelligent poster on this board, I am right.

Edit: I've strongly contemplated picking him for the past two seasons now, he's even been in my team at one point this year. I think he is capable of scoring well over 80, but I would be expecting him to average close enough to 80 if he's getting decent enough games with a semi positive role, which is enough to be a last choice keeper if other picks don't turn out, or at least one of your later defensive upgrades..

Put in some impressive scores late in his rookie year from memory, so if his price fits your structure, I'd be taking a punt on him. Kane Lucas might be another, Ratten was a twat and gave him nothing, so check out his scores over NAB cup, both could give you a bit.

Really interested in Duffield. How is his pre-season so far and what role will he play for the club in 2013?

The same role as he did last year, but his preseason has been very solid. Not the type of player that makes us go WOW, just solid. With Broughton leaving he will no doubt get more duties in the back line, hopefully not too negating taking the small forwards. His spot in the 22 isn't really under threat either so good choice for a defender, less risk than a player like Suban who is more fringe 22.

Yeah i think that's what i was looking for, was wondering if he would get negating roles at times with Broughton gone.

Broughton leaving would surely have to be a positive for Duffields scoring. He's not known for his defensive ability at the best of times.

Could be one of those smokey backline picks that could slot into last spot and be a keeper.

Yeah definitely. He's nicely priced as well and i think he could be a decent POD for the few that pick him.

I'm looking at Matty De Boer for sc, what are your thoughts? Will he get time through the midfield? What's your expected average form him?

Thanks.

All training reports have quoted more midfield time for the pig and being involved in all the stoppage work. Haven't seen it myself so I don't know if he is doing Crowleys work as the tagger or winning his own ball. That means 2 things;
- his score output could jump up to 90-100 by winning contested footy
-or dro to 60-70 by playing the negating roles.

At his price though I would look for other bargains. If it was in the fantasy draft and no others available I would pick him though.

Thanks. He's very tempting to get. Just reminds me of Lenny Hayes and I think he could average 95+ quite easily.

Is Jayden Pitt likely to get some games this year?

He played 10 in 2011 but was rather scrawny. I hear he's beefed up though and played a good game on the weekend against the Eagles.

Who would he be competing with for a spot?

liked what i saw from suban the other night playing exclusively as a mid. When the rest of your mids come back do you think we will still see him in there? I think this could be his year has always showed potential however never really seemed to get a really good chance. My only issue is his scoring potential as even the other night he spent massive minutes in the midfield and didnt kill it but was respectable. but if he's in the midfield could we expect a 20+ possesion average and maybe an 80+ dt average??(sounds like a lot but thats what i think he's capable of, maybe) thoughts???

Mundy, Fyfe and Crowley weren't playing. It's all about who falls out the other side of the bed when those three get back into the side.

Unless you envisage Suban playing as the shut down midfielder, in which case it could be a great pick. I have reservations about his frequency in the middle even though I really, really like him in the team.

just out of curiosity what is the likely starting midfield for the dockers this season?

Is Fyfe going to get plenty of midfield time? what about barlow? how is he tracking?

Who do you think will average more out of the two? cheers guys.

Fyfe is one of those risky picks, he will go up in price purely because of that shoulder effected game early in the season, but does he give you enough value to be picked, or is he enough of a premium with slight upside to be picked?

If I thought Fyfe could be a legit chance for top 10 overall scoring for the season, which probably thinking about it now, I do, I'd pick him.

I'm not a fan of all that unique bullshit, but Fyfe gives enough value, upside, and permium score potential to be a viable pick. If he was a forward, I'd have him perma locked, as it stands now, I'm not sure I'd pick him as a pure mid, but saying that, I don't doubt he is worthy or premium status selection. Worst case, he will provide value for money, which is never a lose situation.

Edit: As a more seasoned and intelligent BF poster, I also worry about Barlows disposal and ability to consistantly hold his spot. if some of the young bloods come on, he could be under serious pressure to hold his spot. Saying that, from a DT perspective, Barlow also offers value if you aren't worried about his selection.

Both can be a super premo, but I don't think Fyfe would ever have a question mark over his head, and I also think he has more upsdide. I haven't got Fyfe in my team currently.

Fyfe and Barlow don't have a good disposal efficiency stat, they can both touch it 30 times a match. It will depend on the small forwards as to whether Barlow keeps his spot, because both Fyfe and Barlow see their efficiency drop from those clearing kicks out of the pack which either go to nobody or into the zone defense.

Barlow is capable of kicking a couple of goals a game too.
