I was looking at going Goldy with Luey as R2 (would love Mummy, but dont trust him)

However, after watching Goldy in the NAB, he looked terrible. What's worse, is that he looked like he was trying.

Looking at Roughhead, Jacobs or McEvoy, but will need to downgrade a player I wanted in order to get them.

Rucks are a ******* headache this year.

Disregard 99% of what you see from any experienced player in the NAB is always my motto. Goldy has all the required attributes to score well in both the ruck and around the ground but if he is to be used sparingly like last year then that more than any NAB cup match is more the issue.

I don't think their are too many headaches in the rucks this year than any other except finding a cash cow as we have been spoiled the last few years. Lets wait and see how many sign up Majak based on a few 10min bursts in the NAB only to trade him out by R4-6 when he is avg is around 50-70

The premiums are still their and with exception from Sandi most should line up R1. How many teams will have rucks 1&2 and Cox in the fwd line this year? Past years you would just spend the coin on Cox and Sandi and pretty much accept whatever it cost.

I am more worried on finding some decent options in the FWDS this year as they are a lot thinner. Why wasn't Cotch a Mid/Fwd as he kicked more goals last year than Zorkoo_O

What worries me about Goldy last night, is he just looked out of sorts, he was not running in the right areas and just looked sluggish.

I agree, with top line players NAB cup is rarely an indicator, but given Goldy's season last year, I was hoping to see a little more from him. It also didn't help that Currie and Daw showed a lot of potential, as for Goldy to reach the heights of 2011, he really needs to be rucking for the bulk of the game.

Loosing Sandi and NicNat put a damper in my plans, and I have Cox in the forwards. So the 3 rucks I had earmarked for R1, are either not playing, or in my forward line. There are plenty of rucks to choose from, but none that I really want.

Yeah, I know.

So, if we can find a F who'll score more than a R is it worth just putting Cox back where he 'belongs'? o_O

I've currently got Maric/Griffen [agree Goldy looked awful, and keep hearing too many negative Luey comments]...but if Wright, Robbo, Martin (Goodes would have been the man for sure!), Bruest, Cloke, Crameri...etc... can convince me they can av. 95+ then maybe Cox is a R after all.

Anyone considering Zac Smith? Last night he looked like the 2011 version.

The 2011 version was popular because he was rookie priced. He's not that this year.

This is true, but it doesn't make the choice any easier. Now im just tossing up between forwards I wasn't really looking at and rucks I wasn't really looking at, it's the same choice, just now more options.

I think im starting to make this harder than it is.

People underestimate the stress of picking a round 1 line up.

Is anyone thinking of going for a 1 premium, 3 rookie set up this year?

With Cox as a forward (with not many decent forwards available) and the likes of Currie, Witts and Rowe looking ok I'm thinking of going with this setup.

Actually getting closer to the opposite end of the scale - more now thinking with the class of mid & def rookies available might just bite the bullet and go Maric/Cox/Currie and Sinclair (my capt zero with R/F capability if i choose ruffhead or Ryder (heaven forbid) as fwd options

This is a set up ive been considering as well. Only issue is, if I want Maric, im gonna have to get rid of someone like Murphy in my mids to afford him.

Maric is at his limits, I cant see him improving again, he will stay around the 110 mark, which is great but Murphy could go 120+ this year, and i'd kill myself if I missed that.

Whats the go with Luenberger still ready for round 1?

I might be bias clouding my judgement but bellchambers is very tempting at that price, looks very fit and the no1 ruck spot is basically his now, should go 95+ gauranteed and I would say strong chance to get 100+ ave.

well firstly don't kill yourself - I've liked the majority of your opinions/posts on BF
2ndly - dont drop Murphy - drop a defender or a fwd and replace with a rookie

Is ryder still alive? people seem to be forgetting him.... shared rucks from 2 average/good rucks is not both of them scoring 100+ averages, cox and nicnat are ELITE rucks and both average 110ish, i reckon the 2 bomber rucks will average a maximum of 90 combined, add Dave Hillie to this and it could fall further, if they are in line for finals, with 3 good rucks they could have a rest program in place also

I get the feeling Ryder will be playing predominately fwd this year and Tbell will get the no1 ruck most of the year. Thats pretty much been the formula when we went with that combo. Hille will be playing vfl unless there is a injury

Cheers toxic, ill put the gun down :p

And I agree, thats why I still have Murphy in my team.

Problem with dropping defenders or forwards is there aren't that many rookie options to bring in.

And it is very tempting to bring in a player like Shuey who could potentially unleash this year.

How many games will Rowe get this year? He's still behind Kreuzer, Warnock and Hampson isn't he?

plenty of rookie defenders (as well as 3 or 4 midpricers who look decent at this very early stage) - sweet fa fwd rookies tho which is causing me no end of headaches

That's exactly what I was thinking/have heard hence my choice for tbell and looneyburger as r1 and r2...

If he's picked, he'd be played as a forward.

My rucks ATM:
S. Jacobs, hoping he will be a consistent and perhaps overlooked ruck option.
N. Vardy, depending on whether he starts rnd 1, good value.
S. Rowe, unsure whether he'll be in my side rnd 1 as the blues have a plethora of ruck options,
D. Currie, had Daw locked in for weeks but Currie just looks more consistent and stable.

Pretty light on the $$$ spent for my rucks, it will all be spent on the mids.
