the draft where we traded for Justin Sherman & Patrick Vezspremi and Nathan Djerrkura was worse to be honest
and also picked up Jayden Schofield

that Justin Sherman pick could have been used on Jack Darling or Jeremy Howe
the Djerrkura pick on either Alex Johnson or Claye Beams

Dont... Just don't.

Dalrymple pick Ward?

I know we're really wanting a player that could play possibly early next year
not sure who that would 'rule' out though to be honest

probably someone with very poor endurance though

I'm thinking Laverde might be a pretty big bolter, I watched a whole game of Fyfe as a junior ( :( )
and he reminds me, so much like Fyfe; but (Laverde) with the better skills at the same age
No. Howard was his first selection.

James Aish was a lock 2nd pick, Boyd was always going to go first
even at the start of last year, I guess GWS thought Kelly had more he could add to their team

Its possible clubs look differently when drafting KPPs, like display a little patience
also on GWS, if they take another KPF with their first round pick, that would really annoy me o_O lets say that..

Not sure it should "annoy" you though Dav1d. If they were to add another top 5-10 KPF to their list, it increases the possibility they might be more amenable to trading one [ with some development already into him], or they might already know one they have wants out.

fair point, I'm eager for the year to be through
WITH no more or limited injuries, then a huge pre-season :D

Marchbank, Ellis and Cordy

Wouldn't be disappointed by that.
Paul Ahern weighs 77cms :p
I think Ellis might be a bit underrated by BF because he always posts solid numbers and uses the ball well
but apparently has played in the Metro side for a long time and I THINK he was part of the AIS Academy

Johnno needs to give us inside information on the players, been their coach and all ;)

lamb at 46 was a surprise

don't think someone that punches players on the field and gets kicked out of school is someone we'd draft anyway
this years Dayle Garlett?
Yeah most likely but he has nowhere to run eg Perth ? I'm not saying we draft lamb but surprised he would go that low and our first pick on a full back is risky

yeah I agree, but Ellis in the second round though
would be a steal, guy is flying under the radar

whichever club drafted him would want a strong development program, could see a team like Collingwood wanting him though ;)

McKenzie wasn't in that phantom draft was he?

two western jets boys hey, I'd be pretty happy with that
they certainly have a lot of class and are both tall midfielders
would probably rather Ellis in the half back at this stage, because he simply makes better decisions sometimes

Nah he wasn't in that draft I think he needs to find consistency , clearly has the ability

What sort of player is marchbank guys?

Caleb Marchbank is a key defender - CHB or Full-back. From my home town of Benalla in Victoria.

I played footy with his father Jim. Jim also was a gun key defender and the best bloke you would ever meet. Caleb comes from a very well regarded family. Solid background. Will get a very big tick for all of the character/upbringing/leadership boxes.

I've heard we like Marchbank too. sounds good
If we take a KPD at our first surely we've got other roles in mind for at least one of Roughy and Roberts you'd think, if that's the case id like to see us play them in the position we actually want them to play long term for the rest of the year so we actually know they can play it.

i think we'll expect flexibility in most of our players. It just smells like we think he's one of the better players at the pick and we might go best available. if of course we have our first pick

Yeah I like the flexibility and am happy with best available, just seems a bit weird how many backs we've been linked too. Jaksch, Corr, Schade, Marchbank when we've already got Roughy, Roberts, Talia, Austin, even Young and Z Cordy.

If best available is a kpd well fair enough but I just don't see why we would go out of our way to target a backman unless we had other plans for Roberts and Roughy.

Despite what some on here say, I'm convinced from what McCartney and some of the Assistants have said that Roughead will at some time be played up forward. He may become our ultimate swingman: can play in the ruck, as a key forward and as a key defender. Like his older cousin.

It makes perfect sense for us to recruit a key defender. I know I'm not convinced that Talia will make a gun CHB and I'm not sure that Roughead will play the rest of his career at full-back.

yeah it does make the head turn over a bit. I've been racking my brain trying to figure out what our plans are. it'll work out in the wash though i'm sure. We need to get taller though. That's one thing i'm sure of. Getting outmarked in every game
