Fact is, Bruce doesn't need to be the next Riewoldt. Based on what game plan we're seeing emerge, he needs to be the next Mooney. It's all about the mids that can transition forward.

I agree that bruce can be a fairly decent forward, hopefully he surprises us by being a really good forward in a couple of years. Just using the Western Bulldogs game (lenny's last home game) as an example, bruce was the most dangerous forward by far and looked good before he got injured. I say we give him a chance, he's more of a natural forward and i reckon he can do pretty well.

Rhys Stanley's largest goal haul, in 58 games? 3 against Freo.

Josh Bruce's largest goal haul, in 24 games? 3 against Gold Coast.

Lonie = Schneider?
Think a shorter Hayden Ballantyne or Brandon Matera. Lonie has elite agility on the field.
Say Wright does fall to the Cats at 10, Adelaide are going to look mighty silly.
if any of durdin, wright etc are there by 10, its sackable IMO just get rid of their list mgr
Or they don't rate said players for the same reason that they're sliding? Durdin projects to be a defender and Wright, well I'll refrain from making known my full thoughts re Wright but let's say he's not in the same class as Petracca, McCartin, Moore for a reason.

Same reason he rates De Goey (I do too).
Even think someone else here rates him Rahul
I hope we get De Goey at 5.
I rate De Goey because he plays good football and has shown considerable upside and room for development, and I think at Collingwood he'd get the best possible opportunity to make the most of his opportunities as a big midfielder. I DO NOT rate De Goey because he played for Skevs, I rate him because he's a damn good footballer.

Also regarding any dick measuring/bravado/general picking sides in this thread, let's be honest we all follow this footy club because when we win at least some happiness is taken from it. Let's not over-complicate things or make this forum uncomfortable as at the end of the day we are discussing 18 guys kicking a football around. No need for personal attacks.

11 saints recorded personal best times in today's time trials. A nice way to kick off preseason.

No, I'm totally saying Bruce is in the same class as Riewoldt... :p

I'm just trying to make the point that a forward doesn't need to be a dead eye dick to be any decent
But if your not a dead eye dick youve got to be an aerobic freak like Roo or Richo to be anything special.
Average kick & average tank is just like Ryan Gamble, Liam Jones,

I noticed Murdoch was missing :-(

Ross looked to be keeping up with mids. Did he record a PB? Really needs to improve that tank

Jack Newnes was the fastest finishing St Kilda player, while Sandringham listed player Jack Noone, who is training at Linen House Centre in the pre-season, finished first overall. Former Gold Coast player Jeremy Taylor finished third, Josh Saunders fourth and Mav Weller rounded out the top five.

Newnes, Weller, Ross, Wright, Markworth, Shenton and Holmes were amongst the 11 players who recorded personal best times.

And Murdoch is recovering from Groin surgery and is on a modified program for the first two weeks.

Epic!!!!! Pumped!!! Wrapped for him, from the outside it looks like running doesn't come easy to him and he has to really work at it. Must put in some real effort

I'm tipping a big year for Seb in 2015. I spoke to Jack Newnes about him at the B&F recently and he is very bullish about Seb, (well they live together and are close mates at the club), but still.

Personally I think it is a case of Seb trusting and back himself to make the right decisions under pressure.

He's Jab Watsons cousin isnt he. Jab was pretty ordinary for a few yrs. I remember Sheedy talking about trading him.
If Seb can have the same sort of improvement as Jab ( but naturally:p ) id be pretty happy

And with Lenny retired it should increase Seb's exposure to his preferred role. It might have been a case of too many cooks in the kitchen at times this year with Lenny, Armo, Dunstan and Ross all being fairly similar. He's still young and only has 27 games experience so he still has plenty of improvement left in him.

I realise some were critical of Brett Anderson's mock draft, but if Alex Neal-Bullen was available at pick 41 we'd choose him over Lonie without batting an eyelid wouldn't we?
So which is more likely?
Someone like Duggan, Langford or Cockatoo (or perhaps Garlett?) makes it to 21 (and we choose them over Neal-Bullen)...
...or Neal-Bullen makes it to 41 (and we take him over Miller, DVR, McLean, Lonie, Nelson or Wigg)?

Yeah good point Periphery:thumbsu:
I think with some of the criticism our emerging group of midfielders cop it can get overlooked just how few games some of them have played.

What type of player is Jack Noone? noticed he finished first overall out of all players.

anyone know? stkildathunda ?
I can just imagine the crowd watching the time trial. I guess it would go down something like;

Son: "hey dad, who's that new guy out in front of the time trial?"
Dad: "let me put my specs on Son... oh him, he's NoOne".

Someone had to get it out the way :p
