Sure but let's remember this is the NEAFL. Easy to get 30+ possessions and kick bags. Remember how many hyphen was kicking there? All I'm saying is I think people see the pick he was taken at and assume he'll be a gun rather than looking at the output which isn't amazing right now. That's all.

We are going in circles here mate.. Just because other players have got a crap load of possessions and kicked bags of goals in a minnow league , doesn't mean his out put is any lesser. It really doesn't mean a lot at all.. Possession count in general does not demonstrate what kind of game player x had , good or bad. So let's agree to disagree

In his AFL appearances this season i watched them and wasn't really impressed much, but that's keeping in mind he has only played about 3/4 career games. He needs a consistent run at AFL level IMO and it seem extremely unlikely he'll get that at GWS.

the highlights clips i saw, he just looked meh. didnt seem to be quick or highly skilled, didnt seem to be an in and under player either. i am not saying he's bad and we all know highlights packages dont tell the full story, but yeh i felt underwhelmed as nothing stuck out as wow. then when i checked the stats from the NEAFL games i just felt more meh. not bad. not good. just yeh ok.

Profile: Missed most of the 2011 season with a hamstring injury but has come back hard in 2012 and shown us just how good he is. O’Rouke is a very explosive, highly skills inside receiver. He has some balance between inside and outside game but I wouldn’t consider him a master of either with limited inside ball winning ability and an average linkup game. Maybe not your most natural ball winner but he attacks the ball hard. Very good all rounder who stands out most is his ball use, particularly by foot which is just so good for an inside player. Finds targets consistently by foot, has some hurt factor and finishes beautifully around goal. Decision making ability good and chooses the right target more often than not. Is also a very good athlete and has great pace with the ability to burst away from packs and a nice leap on him. Very good in congestion and has that great decision making ability choosing the right targets even while pressured which is impressive. He is more your inside receiver who benefits from the work of the stronger, ball winning inside midfielders who can accelerate away from the contest and deliver to the targets up the ground by foot and this is more what I see his role as but not so sure that inside game ever develops and makes him into that Dangerfield explosive type inside guy who can win his own ball even though his explosiveness is just as good. One move I’d consider with O’Rourke is a move onto a back flank at some stage. 1v1 game will need to get stronger but with his elite pace and footskills he could become a real weapon off a back flank for a team.

Hmmm.... Player comparison is Brett Deledio.... Who is IMO one of the most overrated #1 draft picks. I take back what I said earlier

I agree with what others have said, I think people are assuming he is a gun starved of opportunities. I see O'Rourke as a potentially good player with some limitations. When you look back at it, He won't be close to the second best player out of his draft when you consider Whitfield, Wines, Macrae, Vlastuin, Mayes, Grundy and others,, He probably should have gone around the 10-15 mark . I think we need a classy player with speed and good foot skills going through the midfield but I want one of a better calibre than what I've seen of O'Rourke to this point. GWS would offer more than what we should or even realistically could offer at this point.

He could only be an improvement to some players on our list. He might not be a star but he couldn't be horrible to go at pick 2 - even if GWS was picking people on needs and not talent. It wouldn't be the first time a player has come home from interstate or changed clubs to get more opportunity and turned into a better player.

We need talent and I don't think we have the luxury of being too picky about it if we can get it at the right price.

JOR is a med def, not a genuine mid, so on possession count Toby or Whiley should kill him.
He shows every sign of showing why he was pick 2, just slower to come on than a few others, and he has a few more high draft picks in front of him.
GWS wont be giving him away.

I've tried discussing player trade value with GWS fans and it has never ended well. They seem to want a similar return on JOR as they got for Tyson but not sure he was ever rated as highly as Tyson and he is not contracted which takes away GWS's bargaining power. I suspect JOR would get GWS a return around pick 15-20.

It wouldn't surprise me if we throw a couple hundred grand over what they are worth at these players to force them into the PSD or to get them very cheap via trade. It is essentially buying draft picks and I can see no reason why we wont use large front ended contracts to do it, we wont be using the full cap space anyway and it would still leave us with heaps left for our FA tilt.

I know it is cliche around here to threaten PSD but when our CEO comes out and says it you take it a bit more seriously.

Sydney didn't want Lamb, I don't think JOR would be our first choice to be shown the door..
I some respects it was the same with Mumford, the swans didn't want him.
JOR can stay on the GWS list next year, there is no pressure for him to go.

If he does get to the saints though he will be a huge in, and if he leaves that's where I want him to go, same with Jaksch

I was more thinking of the fact that you would need pick 1 AND 2
