When nominating for the PSD as I understand it a player can nominate their terms, not the club.
I think you would be kidding yourself to think other teams wouldn't pay as much..

It won't come to that though, SOS is possibly the best list manager in the game and GWS are seemingly intent on looking after their kids, deals will be done to get those who want to leave to where they want go wherever possible..

The only thing is, if the players, or at least their managers, say to all other clubs that they do not, under any circumstances, want to play for them, refuse to undergo a medical screening, and put a really high price on their head for a one year contract, which would be renegotiated at a later date if they get to the club they want (it's happened in the past, I'm pretty sure that's exactly what Luke Ball did, just in the main draft). No one is gonna pay overs for someone who does not want to be there and would be toxic to the type of culture they would want to build (if they were a young, building team), and the clubs at the pointy end of the ladder would most likely not have the cap space to accommodate them.

heres those highlight packages

O'Rourke's response when Landsberger said he could slip through to the Doggie's pick: "I would love to go to the Doggies I'd be stoked to stay in Melbourne but I don't get a choice."

That's all we need, another back flanker.

Jeez I hope we aren't into him, even his "highlights" video isn't great.
What looks like a Knightmare draft profile, courtesy of the Hawks board:

Jordan Kelly (VIC - Def)
Height: 192cm, Weight: 81kg, DOB: 27/06/1993
Recruited from: Dandenong Stingrays
Style:
Player comparison:
Range: 35-rookie
Profile: Bit undersized to be a key position defender so might have to develop into more of a back flanker who can shut down some dangerous medium forwards. Really good player defensively but provides really nice rebound from defence. Has really nice speed and skill level is very good. One of those who has performed really well in the past but might slide a little lower than he probably should because he hasn’t quite played up to the level many of us thought he might this year.

I dare suggest the bolded is why we might be keen...

If the Kelly talk is true then Fish and Gwilt are both gone methinks.

Here is an interesting fact re List management and is worth a comment as to why we are sitting on the bottom.

StKilda Top 10 most experienced players & Games Played
10 players x 15 games equals 150 available games/players so far this season.
I would expect that most clubs would run at 80-85% of their best and most experienced players to be on the park or 120-130 games/played

StKilda Richmond
Riewoldt 15 Riewoldt J 15
Steven 11 Cotchin 15
Hayes 13 Martin 15
Montagna 12 Chapman 15
Jones 15 Houli 15
Armytage 7 Morris 15
Fischer 0 Rance 9
Gilbert 3 Maric 6
Schneider 5 Conca 13
Geary 7 Delidio 8
Total 88 Total 126

Can be looked at three ways

1.

So, on current realistic rumour, and hope (via Matt Finnis)...

FB: Wright - Delaney - Geary
HB: Kelly - Bruce - Dempster
RK: Hickey - Steven - Dunstan
CR: Montagna - Weller - Armitage
HF: Billings - Riewoldt - Saunders
FF: Minchington - Jaksch - Longer
Int: Savage - Webster - Shenton - O'Rourke

Where to for Jones, TDL, Maister, Gilbert, Ray and Schneider; and White, Markworth, Milera, Siposs, Curren, Lee, Stanley, Murdoch and Ross...?

Templeton and Acres will be fine...

And as far as JOR goes, I'd rather Mark Whiley (21, 188/87)...

(Could throw in 3 others but all played
similar number of games
Can be looked at three ways
1. Why we are on the bottom
2. 38 extra games we have got into the younger guys (Unplanned Bonus)
3. Why Richmond & Carlton are going nowhere!
Also how well Geelong and Collingwood have managed their lists and stayed uber competitive.

Pierce is a long way behind now. Longer, Hickey, Stanley and Holmes in front...could easily be rookie

man your backline sucks Unc! They wouldn't be able to hit a target with a shotgun...

And therein lies one of our problems going forward... Also might explain Kelly's possible recruitment...

So, from what i gather, our team might look something like this next year:

B: Webster Delaney Dempster
HB: Gilbert Shenton Wright Geary O'Rourke Kelly Bruce Acres Gwilt Siposs Savage Roberton Ray Newnes Murdoch
C:
HF:
F:
Foll:

Interchange: Hickey Billings Riewolt Dunstan

what would we max get for Gilbo?

We should get two 3rd rounders so we can use them on Jake Johansen (171cm) and Caleb Daniel (167cm). Sorry Barrels.

If Chips can't get a game this year is he a chance to leave?
Is he contracted next year?

I personally think he should just retire... Hasnt played at AFL level since round 10 last year & keeps getting soft tissue injuries. Think he's only managed about 3 reserves games this year too

I hope he manages to play the last 6 weeks, plays well and gets us a pick in FA. It will only be a late pick you'd think but it's better than him retiring and us getting nothing. Gonna be hard for him to get back though.

Going to make a call here.

Lots of talk that this bloke is wanting out. Not happy with coach. Not happy with game plan.

Mature body - check.
Good mark - check
Goal sense - check
Elite kick - check
Only 25 yo for finals 2020 - check
Late September birthday so only 26 on GF day 2020 - check.

With pick #1 in the 2014 PSD the St Kilda Saints select - Troy Menzel, Carlton FC.

:thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

the flip?! You serious?

It would be a coup like us getting Hamill all over again.... Bring on that Carlscum hate! :thumbsu:

Its all hearsay at this point but Jarrad Waite and his missus have been talking. A lot.

I reckon if we offer him big enough $$ combined with our attacking plan and he will reject their contract and walk.

Serious? Can you elaborate?

Its nothing locked in guys. Just me putting my prediction out there that he is gettable and we are in the box seat from a list/$$/draft POV.

He may well ask to be traded. He might re-sign.

Just seeing a few Carlton posters put up things on their board and the 'Carlton Youth' thread that align with what I've also heard in the last couple of days

If your boss was a complete jerk, and the company was taking away all the nice little perks (downward spiral - no finals etc), would you stay for $500k per year? Or go to a similar company, with a great boss, lots of perks (potential upside, young developing list, finals etc) for $450k?
