It pains me that people see Steven as an A grader!!! He's not. He doesn't have an elite kick. Consistently misses target. Although can bust through packs and extract he cannot deliver.

Is that why he was rated no.1 in the WHOLE COMPETITION for clearances that led to a score in 2012 and rated similarly highly again in 2013 for that stat, or a similar one, because when he gets the ball out of the packs or runs and carries with it he "cannot deliver"?

I'll take someone who "cannot deliver" but who does so more than anyone else!

I think we might see a number of the uncontracted guys leaving the GIANTS next year.

Dogs will have so much cap room suddenly available with Higgins, Griffen & Cooney leaving - maybe 1.4 mil next year free?… no wonder they are throwing megabucks at Boyd, why not?

I'm sure we would have already tried to get Boyd with the #1 pick, so I can't see GWS letting him go… but they won't want him to walk in 12 months.

I can't cope with this trade period… who's next - Nat Fyfe?

Yeah, but I wouldn't want to get involved in some crazy bidding war. For what it would cost in picks/players plus salary cap we might be able to get a better deal elsewhere.

Honestly i see the Boyd thing as a huge potential win

The bulldogs would have been PISSED about the griffen thing, so naturally try and grab something back against GWS.

If GWS really want Griffen then agreeing to take Griffen plus the bulldogs first pick for Tom Boyd isn't a gigantic loss for them (where they are now).

Gives them a better chance of going up the ladder now (which they need) and includes a decent pick still.

The goal for us then is to try and convince them that they now need Petracca (or even more importantly the #1 pick) as part of the deal.

So:

GWS can say to their fans "yeah we lost last years #1, but we got this years #1 and a Gun in griffen
The bulldogs can say "yeah we lose griffen but we got the KPF we have all be after and he's better than wright"
The saints can say "yeah we lost the #1 pick but we got 3 super high picks in return to quickly rebuild."

Could end up being a huge win for all if it can be done.

You believe what you want mate. Just stating he will get us the most compensation via trade. I will never rate his kicking. This is speculation but was his injured foot his kicking foot? I don't know. But I wouldn't lose sleep if he was traded. I'm not doubting his work ethic cause he gives his best better than most. Sometimes he's too quick for his own good. Just think it's not the end of the world.

I agree that our chances of landing JC might decline if Boyd goes but hopefully you're right as there are plenty of players there we could still pillage. Probably makes more sense to downgrade from pick 1 and draft Paddy this year if we don't see any clear FFs we can poach in the next year or two and instead have a look at Treloar, WHE, Whitfield, Shiel or whoever next year.

Hold the phone, GWS now saying they will work with Bulldogs to seek an acceptable trade. Boyd will not be playing at GWS next year, count on it!

Boyd no doubt looks a very good talent. However, a 19 year old on 4 mill for 5 years is just too much.

Couple good key position options in this draft and only a year younger.

We don't have anyone who has the currency of Griffen (Despite what some of us would like to believe). Good on the dogs for pulling this off, however we should stay out of this one.
